Knee pain meniscus rehab

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain meniscus rehab

Avatar f tn I am a veteran when it comes to knee problems. Torn meniscus cartilage, 2 knee scopes (arthroscopic surgeries), and finally a total knee replacement. If your knee is swelling, especially in the morning after sleeping, it may be a torn meniscus cartilage. The older we get, the more brittle our cartilage becomes and the more prone it is to damage from impact, etc... I have had lots of injuries over the years but the knee had the worst pain of all.
Avatar m tn - I have undergone ACL reconstruction surgery of right knee on 21st May,2010. Even after my surgery I feel pain when I bend my knee or when I walk. The pain is distributed over the entire crossection of the knee. But recently on 12th feb,2012 my right knee has started paining again. I am not able to walk. Even if I try to walk, I feel instability. My leg becomes stiff when I keep it straight for around 30 min.
Avatar m tn Hi, Did you tear the lateral or medial meniscus. I tore my right lateral meniscus and am currently doing rehab in an attempt to avoid surgery. The good news is that if you are a right handed golfer then a tear in the left knee meniscus would be much worse. A knee support will help and you should be able to play without causing more damage. However itf hurts or locks stop right away. I've uploaded pictures of my tear on my profile. Do you have any that you have uploaded?
Avatar n tn I have a large bucket handle tear with some pain and limited mobility. I have been trying to rehab the knee myself ever since the injury. I don’t think surgery would turn out well for me for the following reasons. 1) Dr. Wants to remove 80% of the posterior horn. 2) removal of 50-75% body/root. 3) some degree of ACL tearing (that will not be addressed). 4) high grade/full thickness articular cartilage loss throughout the medial compartment and elsewhere.
Avatar n tn The primary goals in treatment of ACL rupture are restoration of function in the short term and prevention of long-term pathologic changes in the knee. The pooping knee may be due to Discoid meniscus - an abnormally shaped meniscus in the knee joint. The discoid meniscus can cause problems, usually a popping sensation with pain over the outside part of the knee joint. Conservative treatment consisting of exercises and stretching is recommended..
Avatar f tn Two possibilities are a retained, or even new meniscus tear, or incomplete rehab following surgery causing ongoing patella femoral symptoms. Teh quadriceps muscle controls the patella, and it is usually the last to recover fully after knee surgery, See your treating doctor, he may elect to restart you PT, or repeat your MRI. Be aware, that post-surgical MRI's are not always reliable, so that would not be my first choice.
Avatar f tn Constant pain like you are describing is never normal. Most likely this is a the result of a incomplete or non response to the microfracture of the femoral condyle. I would recommend at least an exam and Xray, and possibly an MRI. Another possibility is further tearing of the meniscus, an MRI will show this if it is present.
Avatar m tn I have been having knee pain for quite some time now. Initially was taking it light, but recently got the same checked and MRI was performed. Dr.'s conclusion are as follow: 1. Grade 2C tear of medial meniscus. 2. Moderate to severe joint effusion distending the suprapatellar bursa with underlying osteoarthritic changes at knee. 3. Bone marrow edema is noted at the medial tibial condyle. Yet to meet my docter in two days.
Avatar m tn I am 22 years old and I have participated in sports most of my life, I was overweight(30-60lbs) from 18-20 years old, I had knee surgery on my left knee to repair my miniscus when I was 17 and follow up up with as much rehab as I could afford(roughly 3 months).
Avatar f tn You would need surgery as meniscus are very important ligaments in the knee joint and spontaneous healing is difficult. Take care!
Avatar f tn like my doctor said but have had 2 cortisone injections since last February. I am constantly in pain. My knee swells to the size of a cantaloupe and this last injection I got (Jan 16th) has had ZERO effect on me. I am still in constant pain, and I wake up with my knee locked almost every morning.. I'm afraid I have another tear or is this just the effects of the arthritis. Help please..??
Avatar m tn On January 9, 2024, I was finally able to see rehab person. Exercises again, similar to right knee, except this time the pain didn’t return to baseline the next day. By week three of rehab, after the session I was back on the crutches the next day. To make matters EXTRA interesting, I had a bout of vertigo one day, and while trying to move around with the crutches and absolutely NO balance, I managed to twist the right knee again, so now BOTH knees were painful and unsupportive.
Avatar f tn The MCL is intact. LATERAL COMPARTMENT: Allowing for motion artifact, there is fraying to the lateral meniscal posterior horn free edge, and the posterior root is diminutive. Superficial chondral fibrillation is present at the posterior meniscal surface of the tibial plateau without subchondral remodeling. Intact lateral collateral ligament complex and structures of the posterolateral corner. INTERCONDYLAR NOTCH: The anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments are intact.
Avatar m tn Pain at the joint line is the result of a collateral ligament or meniscus problem (or both) until proven otherwise. Anterior knee pain can also be due to Patello-femoral syndrome. When did his pain begin, what was he doing at the time, and what were the initial symptoms? Does he experience any grinding, locking, catching, or giving way of the knee? Are there any positions that make his knee more or less comfortable? Has he tried anything to help his pain and, if yes, has that been successful?
5987839 tn?1381922502 I have spasticity in my legs - I take Baclofen in the morning, and before bed to keep it under control. My right knee is about to get an MRI, but I know there is at the least a torn meniscus and I am facing surgery. My MS is NOT happy with that leg! The spasticity has gotten so bad in that leg ... it feels like there is a grip on my leg from above my knee, to halfway down my calf, making it difficult to walk .... in addition to the pain and mobility issues in my knee.
Avatar f tn Now, it still hurts to walk for a long time on it and sometimes while sitting I have an aching pain. The main area of the pain is on the inner part of my left knee. If anyone knows of what could be wrong or what could help, I would grately appreciate it.
Avatar n tn I know how frustrating knee pain can be. However my meniscus is healthy and your sounds like it may not be. The occasional "pop" you feel or hear could be your meniscus. Our knee is the largest joint in our body. Meniscal tears are among the most common knee injuries or can just thin and wear out as we age. They are two wedge-shaped pieces of cartilage that are located between your thighbone and shinbone. They act as shock absorbers and help stabilize and cushion the joint.
405614 tn?1329144114 Hi there. It's been a long while since I visited this community. Life has been pretty good, despite several issues I deal with . I've been totally in love with Zumba, and am in pretty darn good shape from it. Unfortunately, my left knee has given up on me. Both knees are in bad shape; I've had 5 surgeries, 3 of them ACL reconstructions. I tore the lateral meniscus in my left knee in September.
Avatar f tn There is very often and crunching and grinding sound from the knee, it feels like the pain is above or behind the knee cap. What could this be? Has anyone had similar experiences?
