Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain in yoga

knee-pain

Avatar f tn ve had it in my left knee for over 2 years now and i want it gone. The doctor referred me to go to the physio, which i did for a while. He would massage my calf muscles and told me to do yoga to loosen my hip and calf muscles. I stopped going to him only because he said the yoga was the only thing that could help it. I have been doing yoga now for almost 2 years and there has been no improvement in the slightest!
Avatar n tn Right now as I sit and type I feel the dull ache in my knees. It does not hurt to do yoga, or to walk or do anything, but when I rest, sleep, sit down, I can feel it. Although I've been taking a Calcium/D pill for eons, I just recently replaced with the Vitamin Code Grow Bone system, which is a package of Calcium/D supplementation along with an evening strontium/probiotic enzyme complement to help the body build and strengthen bone. Taking all as directed.
Avatar f tn Had RK microfracture & LK OATS. Somewhat able to do things with tolerable pain level. Started back with the floor pilaties & yoga. Too much stretching I guess. I started where you are with similiar discomforts. Then started to hurt behind the knee and on the lateral side. Now...I can't stand without both knee fatique and pain, i can't walk without pain. It has ruined me! I'm walking with braces and oh boy if i have to go up or down stairs, HELP~!

I'm use to dealing with pain I have a very very bad neck and shoulders due to a car deck but I can't handle the pain in my hip. I can be just fine all day but as soon as I stand or walk a lot it starts to feel like my hip is breaking and sharp pains shoot down my leg. My knee feels like its swollen and my ankle and its just the one leg. My obgyn is not a very good doc if u ask me.
Avatar n tn Hi I am experience a similiar type pain in my knee. It started rather suddenly and within a few days grew to the point of pain that involuntarily causes me to scream out loud. Each episode lasted no longer than 30 seconds or so, and were usually spaced out by hours of no pain.
Avatar f tn While I was pregnant I had problems with a nerve running from my lower back (left side) down my outter thigh, around my knee and down my calf! I just started walking 1-2 hours a day, three weeks ago and the pain is back again! It seems to only occur when I move certain ways.. or while lying down. I am on anti-depressants and was wondering if there was anything I could take to ease the pain... and should I stop exercising so much?? Anything? Thank youuu!
Avatar m tn My dad is bow legged and I got it from him - it its never really been a serious problem, although sometimes I get knee pain after running. There's no pain or difficulty walking; however, I don't like the way it looks and as my dad gets older I notice he has difficulty walking and severe joint pain.
Avatar n tn OUCH! Those leg spasms are aweful. I am sorry you are having this pain. I had some in my calf/foot & the pain went all the way up my thigh. The pain in my leg lasted for 5 days. I do hope that you find relief soon - when you do - let me know your trick :) I am sure others will chime in with advice but I wanted you to know that you are not alone with this problem. Take care.
Avatar f tn i am 53 years old. i had surgery for torn meniscus in left knee on 10/13/2007, and i have been in pain since. i am currently receiving my 3rd round of synvisc. i have had 3 or 4 cortisone injections, they seemed to be helping but the times in between have gotten shorter. my dr. keeps telling me i'm too young for knee replacement. he tells me it's arthritis, i can't believe it. i am not overweight (147 lbs.), however, before the surgery i weighed 128 lbs.
Avatar f tn Hello. Last week I felt a pain in my right knee when walking downstairs. That happens sometimes and usually goes away the next day but this time it didn't and has been going on for over a week now. The pain is dull and not very strong. I noticed it happens when I shift more weight to the right leg- mostly when walking up and down stairs or when squatting and then standing up. It does not hurt when: I stand (even for a long time) or walk.
1359905 tn?1277572710 I was in a car accident and somehow ended up with slight bruising and massive pain in my left calf, just below my knee. No tests were done to determine if, what the doctor said was right, that I have a contusion. The pain has not lessened from the accident 7 days ago, and pain killers are not helping. Not sure what else I can or should do about this pain.
Avatar f tn I have arthritis in my knee and in my left foot - but think it is also now in my hip. I was taking percocet for pain but have tried to get off them as I feel I was getting addicted. Right now I am looking for advice - the bottom of my left foot hurts and aches... is there anything you can put in your shoes or on your foot to lessen the pain? It's not swollen, and I don't really want a store bought insert because then it makes it too high for my foot.
Avatar f tn In women, the Q angle should be less than 22 degrees with the knee in extension and less than 9 degrees with the knee in 90 degrees of flexion. In men, the Q angle should be less than 18 degrees with the knee in extension and less than 8 degrees with the knee in 90 degrees of flexion.) Follow up near an orthopaedician and surgery is preferred for you so that you can delay the arthritis complications which would require a total knee replacement for later part of life. Take care!
Avatar n tn I have sharp pain behind my right knee that permeates a searing burning pain up the back of my thigh. When sitting on a furniture, leaning my leg toward the left causes the pain behind the knee to increase. If I am sitting or laying and my legs are flat, when I bend my right leg while still flat (foot against my left left), the pain behind my knee intensifies and my leg feels weak.
Avatar f tn I am 26 and have had knee pain for 2 years. I have been living in Asia and have had a difficult time finding a doctor that a) speaks English and b) is helpful in diagnosing the problem. Most doctors have said they are not sure what the problem is and that I should just rest and take pain medication. After 2 years of doing this I am becoming really frustrated.
1926359 tn?1331588139 This was devastating for me as I am a dancer, a runner, and a yoga practitioner. I went without taking pain meds as long as I could. I was suffering very much and finally on the advice of all my doctors, family, and friends (all who know my history with addiction) took the pills. It was one of the scariest things I have ever done- I was terrified I would slide back into that dark place and all my hard work would be for not. I was wrong. I am okay.

Avatar f tn I injuried my back before I became pregent I have really bad back pain I'm only 5 months and its getting worse I don't know what i can do to relieve some of this discomfort and pain any suggestions?
Avatar f tn My advice to you is the same for myself, and that is to keep training in an attempt to heal your knee. You mentioned yoga and that is very good in my opinion. Keep a healthy diet, and keep doing what you're doing. Also, massage your knee with cream. I believe you can get through this man! Peace be with you!
Avatar f tn I first noticed the pain in my outer right knee in yoga class, and thought that maybe I was kneeling an earring or zipper. I looked down to see...nothing. It has now spread to my left knee. Like all of you, I'm experiency a sharp stabbing sudden snap of pain, ONLY when kneeling. I went to an orthopedist. He said all the x-rays looked fine, and that he'd never heard of this specific type of knee pain. He recommended Advil and not kneeling (uh, thanks, doc.
Avatar m tn I started the pills because of knee pain. I had three knee replacement surgeries, 2 PKRs and one redo a TKR. My knees are the best they are going to get, can manage without pain killers. But I was still on the pills because of my shoulder. After my third knee surgery, I came off of methadone but stayed on the Norco. I've been clean from Norco since Jan. My shoulder is getting worse every day. I've been in tears for three days.
Avatar n tn I took a nap this afternoon, and when I woke up, I realized that I lost feeling in my entire shin area from the knee down to the ankle on my left leg. I sometimes experience a part of my body being "asleep," but as soon as I move it around I feel pins and kneedles and it wakes up. This time, it has now been four hours, and the feeling has not come completely back. I am starting to get worried, and am not sure what is going on.
