Avatar f tn I have knee/ankle/wrist/finger (bilateral carpal tunnel) discomfort and in the last two months have had severe hip pain. It seems that when I take the medrol dose paks or get steriod injections that I feel better for several weeks, but the joint pain comes back and is so severe recently that I am having difficulty walking. I seen a rheumatologist today who did yet another injection and ordered a sed rate. Could I have RA without the rheumatoid factor being postive?
Avatar f tn The closest thing I could find is if you think of your knee joints like a door. In cold weather, it shrinks. In hot weather, it expands. I wonder if you are not having that kind of reaction with your knee joint. https://www.osgpc.com/warm-weather-joint-pain/ And while hot water therapy is common for arthritis, for some with arthritis, they find showers uncomfortable. ?? Do you think you have arthritis? For some people, they really do react to either cold or hot.
Avatar n tn However now since multiple joints are involved, it goes more in favor of associated arthritis. It can be osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, or even reactive arthritis. You would need some tests and X-rays of the joints to diagnose this. The pain in the joints can also be due to overweight, hypothyroidism and diabetes. Hope this helps. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult yur orthopedic specialist.

Avatar f tn Yesterday I had an x-ray to check for fracture of hip as I could put no weight on my left leg without agonising pain shooting from my hip, down the front and side of my thigh to my knee, and also into my groin. I have never felt pain like it. I also have numbness from knee to hip which is a weird sensation considering the pain. Although I was told there was no fracture I was given a walking frame and an offer of physiotherapy to be taken at home.

Avatar f tn Since high school, after running track for 4 yrs, (7 yrs ago) I hav had knee pain. In the last couple of years it has gotten worse, radiating to my hip. It happens when I've been standing or walking too long, or if I'm cold. Could this be a trauma induced osteoarthritis?
Avatar n tn s cyst, bursitis, connective tissue disorders such as lupus, dislocation of the kneecap, iIliotibial band syndrome, infection or any trauma or abnormalities in the structures in the knee. Many causes of knee pain, especially those related to overuse or physical activity, respond well to self-care such as resting and applying ice to the affected area. At this point, follow your doctor's orders and have him go for regular follow-up for monitoring. Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar n tn Hi, at this age the cause of knee pain are arthritis, gout, rheumatoid arthritis, reactive arthritis, bursitis etc. As you don't have history of recent trauma, it is unlikely to be ligament or meniscus tear. Investigations like MRI, blood tests like ESR, RF, ANA etc are done to find out causes related to autoimmune diseases. Try cold compression, crepe bandage and pain killers like diclofenac etc.

Avatar f tn Happy, happy, joy, joy . . . I have arthritis in my right knee (sought help because of the Baker's cyst I've coped with since June). My MS journey began with a rheumy two - three years ago, but there was no indication of arthritis at that time. 2043993 tn?1450875078 Hi, I am 23 years old and have been noticing some occasional stiffness in my hands, feet, knees, and back. My mother suffers from rheumatoid arthritis and Lupus and I know both are hereditary diseases. Is it possible to have rheumatoid arthritis at such a young age? and should I get tested?
Avatar f tn However, it would disappear almost immediately when I straightened it. Recently, I have been having more continuous pain, it feels like I should have a floor burn on my knee but there isn't one. It also has this prickly feeling to it. I saw an orthopedist who simply said the pain was due to overuse of my muscle, however he never asked me to describe the pain. I have had sore and overused muscles before and it has felt nothing like this. Does anyone know if he is correct in his diagnosis?
