Avatar f tn Whenever I touch it or bruxh it against something I get a bad pain in the side of my knee. Seems odd that an injury on the front of the knee cap and cause such pain on the side. Looking for any info, please help. Thank you.
Avatar m tn Pain in the front portion of the knee can be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the lining of the joint, possible due to injury while playing), arthritis, or injury to the patella cartilage (front portion of the knee). Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. You will need X-rays and MRIs of the knee to find the exact. Treatment will follow correct diagnosis.
Avatar n tn The pain was really bad, both the front and back of the knee. I never experienced clicking/popping in that knee prior. But suddenly it was happening all the time. As the pain subsided the clicking/popping got worse. It has been a couple months, the clicking/popping still very much there. I tried working out again for the first time in months last Wednesday, and felt nothing during the workout or afterwards.
Avatar f tn I developed frontal thigh pain in both legs after I had a knee replacement in the right knee. I have had an EMG and it showed that the pain was not coming from my spine. The pain is relieved when I am sitting but upon standing or walking, the pain is so severe that I cannot walk. I am only 62 years old and too young to be wheel chair bound. I take meds for fibromyalgia without success and strong pain relievers are not effective.
Avatar n tn Now unable to put full weight on Lt leg.No swelling behind knee/light swelling above front of knee cap.Pain when bending knee /more pain when bending with Lt toes pointed toward the outside. The snap seemed to come from behind and to the left end of the joint.Soreness/tightness remain. What could be happening?
Avatar m tn Is the pain under your knee cap or tendon? From what you are saying it sounds like your saying under your knee cap. You could have patellofemoral syndrome; very common for cyclists (read your bio). Try this website. http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/sma/sma_patellod_sma.
Avatar f tn The location of the knee pain can be a useful guide to the cause of pain. Pain in the front portion of the knee can be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the lining of the joint, possible due to injury while playing), arthritis, or injury to the patella cartilage (front portion of the knee). Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis.
Avatar m tn He has had many blood test ans scans done with nothing showing up that can explain the amount of pain. He says that his pain is centered at the middle of is knee ( the point that you would come to if you drilled from the top of the knee and the side of the knee). He is unable to walk with out a knee brace and crutches. None of the heavy narcotics he is on even dull the pain. He is at a loss and no one is able to do anything for him. Any help is appreciated.
Avatar f tn i'm a dancer and I can't extend my knee anymore. I don't know what I did to mess it up. but even laying down i have to force myself to extend it. every time i get it extended it sends sharp pain from the lower part of my knee up to my hip bone. I'm only 20 so the thought of knee replacement scares me half to death. I can't start my career in dance until my knee is back to normal.. i've tried icing it, stretching it, biofreeze you name it i've probably tried it.
Avatar n tn I have had second knee replacment in My 2010 I have no strenth in uper quard knee looks like a big stump and warm to touch lower leg pain in calf and in front of leg. After i had surgery had a big black and blue mark in front of my leg where i have pain now not sure what that is from. Is this common things in knee replacements ?
Avatar m tn Pain in the front portion of the knee can be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the lining of the joint, is possible due to injury or infection or autoimmune disease etc), arthritis, or injury to the patella cartilage (front portion of the knee). Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee.
Avatar f tn Each flair up lasts longer and longer and is more and more severe. The pain in my knee is in the front, the inside and the back. It includes swelling, clicking, catching and, strange enough, tingling in the bottom of my foot when my leg is extended all the way. Last year all I did was swing my legs out of bed and stand up when extreme pain shot through my knee. For the next 2 weeks I was limping and the pain was pretty severe. It started 5 years ago with pain going up and down the stairs.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms could indicate anything from bursitis in front of the knee to a torn cartilage inside the knee. Depending on how long youve had this problem, I would try ice for twenty minutes several times a day, avoid the activities that make it hurt, and judicious use of over the counter NSAID's if you are allowed to take them. If the pain persists for more than a week to ten days, or gets worse, then I would see an orthopedist for a full evaluation.
Avatar f tn Pains on inside of knee and under knee cap front, a slightly diff pain behind the knee and random sharp shooting pains on top of knee. Any suggestions as to what could be wrong? I can wiggle toes but not lift heel at all. Sorry for essay and thank you.
Avatar f tn Standing up/stretching causes great pain. At times, shooting pain in front of lower leg and down sides of foot. Had Ultrasound yesterday...no blockages, no cyst, no clot. inflammation of tissues/unknown origin. This has been going on for a month now. Doctor gave me Celebrex-antianflamatory, leg exercises to stretch and recommended wrap around cold compresses. Your post was a year ago....I hope you are not still suffering-let me know. I'm counting on being normal soon!
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if posterior knee pain related to tight muscles? Front of knee is okay. It is causing me a great deal of discomfort.

Avatar n tn Do you have access to a gym? Or is this for at home exercises without any equipment?
Avatar m tn I hurt my back last week lifting a bale of hay. Pain started the next day in my lower back (right side) & buttocks area (right side). The next day my groin area was included in the pain. The following day the pain travelled down the front portion of my right leg & the pain in my back, groin & buttocks areas are gone. Now (4th day) the pain is running down the front part of my right leg only from the knee down. I am seeing a chiropractor now who has ordered a MRI.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Bursitis of knee usually presents only with pain. Some amount of swelling and redness can also be present, but that is not the differentiating symptom. It is usually associated with significant pain when kneeling and can cause stiffness and pain with walking. Also, in contrast to problems within the knee joint, the range of motion of the knee is frequently preserved. Consult a orthopedician for further assistance. Best.
