6736456 tn?1384270917 About 3 days in with this pain my left buttock and behind the left knee started feeling numb (or like a falling asleep feeling). No pain between the buttock and knee. I went to a chiropractor and she said it is not a sciatic pinch because it is not a continuous pain down the leg. My lower back pain is gone, but still have the other pains.
Avatar f tn ) to put the ice pack and/or heating pad to help sciatic nerve pain the most? If not, where has it helped YOU most effectively? I appreciate any and all responses!
Avatar m tn Sciatica refers to inflammation, irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve. This large nerve extends from the lower back down the back of each leg. When the nerve is compromised the pain can be excruciating. There are several conditions that can cause or contribute to Sciatica. Some of those conditions include Spondylolisthesis, lumbar stenosis, DDD (degenerative disc disease) or similar conditions.
Avatar f tn My right hip hurts all the time and its a constant pain shooting down to my knee :( sounds weird but it feels like I need to pull my leg outta the socket and push it back in. Anyone else experiencing this ?
1461944 tn?1286027942 Hey, i have had 2 microdiscectomy procedures on my l5/s1 disc for a herniation causing a pinched sciatic nerve going down my right leg and the pain still is not getting better, it is over a month out of my last surgery, i am almost 17 now, my question is, is there any stretches or strengthening excercises i can do to help my sciatic nerve pain?
Avatar m tn Welcome to the medhelp neurology forum. Thanks for writing in. Sciatica is pain resulting from irritation of sciatic nerve. it is typically felt from the low back to behind the thigh and radiating down below the knee. It is most commonly caused due to a herniated disc or adjacent bone, tumor, muscle irritating the nerve. treatment options include addressing the underlying cause for the symptoms, medications to relieve pain and inflammation and relax muscles, physical therapy.
Avatar n tn It sounds like sciatica, which is pain resulting from irritation of the sciatic nerve. The pain of sciatica is typically felt from the low back to behind the thigh and radiating down below the knee. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body and begins from nerve roots in the lumbar spinal cord in the low back and extends through the buttock area to send nerve endings down the lower limb.
Avatar f tn After a little while it goes away but is this a sign of growing sciatic nerve pain in my future as the baby gets bigger? My first pregnancy I never experienced sciatic pain at all.
Avatar f tn Ugh I'm so sorry I have the same problem and it's super annoying! The pain just stops me in my tracks sometimes. Usually, I just gave to wait it out but a few tons that help me are: -rubbing tiger balm on the affected area -getting my partner to massage me for a little while -resting/not laying on the problem side -laying on my back, taking the knee of the affected side, and gently pulling it up and across my body towards my shoulder. All other stretches I've tried make it worse.
Avatar f tn m 36+3 woke up feeling fine then maybe an hour later started having real bad lower back pain that goes all the way down to my knee. called my doctor and they told me it sounded like my sciatic nerve and put me on bedrest. my question is has anyone else had this problem and is there anything i can do?
Avatar f tn s ideas especially about the heat and massaging. Taking a hot bath may help too? Ive never dealt with sciatic nerve pain before, but my Dad does almost daily. He also wears back braces too - not sure if thats an option or not if the pain is after the pregnancy.
Avatar n tn I felt if he stretched the leg it would take pressure off my nerve. Now, it is constant and excrutiating all along the sciatic nerve from the hip down to the outside of my foot, and my calf muscle is quite noticably smaller. I have an MRI on my back, knee and hip which showed no disk problems, or anything else, but a nerve conduction test showed "significant damage to S1". I had a series of 6 steroid epidurals in both S1 and L4-L5 because my pain appeared to be in both.
2063301 tn?1343833074 And after about 2 months I developed a back and knee ache. My left knee hurts whenever I climb stairs or stand up from a sitting position but that pain is much more better than before. My back ache though, there's this pain in my lower back of the right side of my spine which is only there where I bend forwards, when I stand up from a sitting position, when I change my posture while sleeping and when I sneeze while standing up.
Avatar f tn About 15 years ago, my sciatic nerve bothered me so much that I could not walk almost at all. After six weeks of chiropractry, either "tincture of time" or the treatment seemed to cure me. I get occasional flairups and I have a sore spot, but nothing serious. Two weeks ago, the other side hurt after running. It was hurting in the morning and then got better. Now, the pain is pretty much gone, but my legs are heavy and tingling somewhat below the knee.
Avatar n tn This could be irritated by the bulging disks in your mothers back. I would seek urgent help from an orthepedist as sciatic nerve pain is excruciating. Corrective surgery will most likely solve it, but in the mean time, your mom can at least be prescribed adequate pain relief for this type of pain.
Avatar f tn Hi Sharon, Welcome to MedHelp's Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post.... but sorry to hear about your pain. Pain that runs down the back of your leg can be caused by your sciatic nerve. It usually originates in the low gluteal area and extends down the back of the thigh and sometimes into to the lower leg. Certain positions can produce the pain while others do not. It can also be related to tight and weakness in the lower extremity muscles.
611964 tn?1223767720 Hi. I just wanted to add that this nerve compression puts pressure on the sciatic nerve that runs from the lower back all the way through the gluts and hamstrings and calf even into the toes.
9137321 tn?1402710290 ve had it slightly with this pregnancy but not as bad. The pain would shoot from my back down to my left knee and practically make my leg give out.
Avatar m tn If the pain went from your butt at the back of your leg to the knee, you may have damaged part of your lower back causing impingement or pressure on the sciatic nerve - sciatica. Go to the ER and get an xray done to make sure there is no break.
Avatar f tn I have the same pain in my left butt cheek! It is my sciatic nerve! and it goes down my leg! Thanks for the stretching tip!
Avatar n tn Alright, I have this pain in my right side of my hip. The pain isn't really in my hip but it's a shooting pain from my hip to my knee. I only have the pain when I take weight off my right leg for about a minute or more or when I put all my weight on my right leg for about a minute or more. First it started off every once in a while, but now after a month the pain is every time I put/ take the weight off my right leg. It is not from my sciatic nerve.
1779555 tn?1314565745 Awaiting mri on my back but I’m pretty sure from all the info I’ve read up on that this is coming from your sciatic nerve . You may need mri on your back like me .
Avatar m tn Hi, everyone: My wife is 33. She started some minor bleeding during the 8th week. We saw the heartbeat and the doc said everything should be all right. She stayed at home for a week and now there is almost no bleeding or spotting. It is now 10th week and she started to feel pain in her left leg, sometimes upper leg and sometime lower, sometimes the knee. She also has rash on her left leg. Can anyone tell us what might be the problem? I am very worried about her health. Thanks a lot!
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Burning sensation, numbness or tingling sensation in any part of body is considered nerve related in origin. This burning sensation you are having can occur due to impingement, irritation or compression of nerve of thigh. Most frequently involved nerve is lateral cutaneous nerve of thigh (which is branch of femoral nerve). This condition is called meralgia paraesthetica which manifests itself as pain, tingling or burning sensation of outer thigh.
4522848 tn?1359039335 I cant find any info on the Internet for a neuroma on the sciatic nerve in the leg/knee like i have. It seems they are typically in the foot and head. It isnt causing much pain yet but I'm considering surgery and wondering what the recovery is like and how likely id have nerve damage or pain after. If anyone has had a similar surgery, please share your story!
