Avatar n tn I had a huge osteochondroma removed at age 9! they are not uncommom!!! i have 14 of them and i am 27 years old and am getting ready to have another one removed.. they will bother your children at different times in their lives but not always need surgery--trust me. But x-rays are always good to check sizes. Keep old x-ray reports and measurements so the radiologist has something to compare the new ones too.
Avatar m tn I have just had an MRI on an Osteochondroma in my inner thigh, slightly above my knee, and have been reassured that it is 100% benign. From the MRI the doctors can tell that it is 23 mm wide and is pushing on my tendon and that is why it is giving me pain. I want to get it taken out, but I'm not sure what the survey/recovery will be like. How long will the surgery be? How long will I have to be in hospital for afterwards? How long will it take until I can walk properly again?

Avatar n tn I have this knot the pretude out on my knee, it's not large but noticable. Rarely it hurts. A doctor said I was born with a bone disease that cause this but it's nothing to be concerned about...the name is long but I don't remember what it was called. Would you have an ideal what it may be?
Avatar n tn In Jan 2007, I found a lump on the top of my right foot. It was slightly painful to the touch, hard, like bone, and it hurt to wear shoes. At first, I thought I might have hit it on something and figured it would go away in a few days, but when it didn't, I went and saw my family doc. My family doctor sent me through a battery of tests, xrays, bone scans, an MRI and a CT scan.

Avatar f tn Given the fact my vit C is low and this effects healing and repair, i have some hyper extension of my fingers/hands, ive had wound dehiscence, my boobs/thighs/belly are covered in stretchmarks (long before kids and im not huge just a little bit cuddly), im short, 35 considerably way too grey haired by age 27 and all my scars have widened and have a crinkly look/feel, had an osteochondroma as a child....with all that...do you think its silly to ask my GP to look seriously into the possibility?
Avatar f tn I have a history of left quadrant pain, particularly with digesting spicy foods (my organs feel as if they burn from the spices and it mimics a cramp), if that helps. I don't think it has anything to do with my ribs. Earlier I was pressing this thing, so for a while I had sharp/dull pain mix under and beneath my left breast. I am laying down now because I'm still having slight pains in the area, and can feel a lot of gas / movement. It radiated to my back earlier as well.
Avatar f tn appearnace. However, it could have been an aneuysmal bone cyst, enchondroma, osteochondroma, or osteoblastoma. The final diagnosis is made based on your daughters age, the location of the tumor and its appearance on Xray. Sometimes MRI and/or Bone scans are done to complete the workup. In some cases, even though the tumor is "benign", a chest X-ray is needed to rule out spread to the lungs.
Avatar n tn Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive. What do you think?
Avatar f tn Around January of 2010 I started experiencing horrible pain in my right knee. After taking some time off from the gym and still experiencing chronic pain, I made an appointment with an orthopedic knee specialist. I had x-rays done and was told that my knee looked beautiful (structure-wise I guess) and that I probably had something called Femoral Pain Syndrome or Runner’s Knee. He recommended physical therapy, a knee brace, and said I should be fine in a few weeks.
1850203 tn?1325253608 the pain of the knee is at the side of the knee cap. sometimes it (the bump) will pop out -- whenever I get up from a chair. I pop it back in by sitting down again and raising the lower leg. this might be from an injury when I was 4 when thrown down from a stool and landing on knees several times. thank you.
Avatar n tn SO I AM HAVING PRETTY EXTREME PAIN ONLY WHEN KNEEING ON LEFT KNEE--USUALLY DOMINATE KNEE THAT I ALWAYS KNEE ON WITH ALL MY WIEGHT ON FIRST. DOESNT HURT TO WALK ON OR BEND OR ANY OTHER MOTION. RECENTLY I CAN FEEL SENSATIONS FROM A LITTLE BELOW MY KNEE LIKE "PINS AND NEEDLES" BUT VERY SLIGHT. I CAN LIGHTLY TOUCH BELOW CENTER OF KNEE AND FEEL SAME PAIN WITH VERY LITTLE PRESSURE LIKE A SLIGHT RUB.
Avatar n tn This essentially means a softening of the cartilage of the knee cap. The anatomical sources of pain in this area is now considered to be from the richly innervated subchondral bone (bone below the articular cartilage), infrapatellar fat pad, or the medial and lateral retinaculum of the joint. “...certain mechanical conditions may predispose you to a mistracking knee cap. ” Cartilage does not have the same blood supply that bone does.
Avatar m tn I am 45 years old from last year i am suffering from knee pain. Last year started left knee pain and this year started right knee pain Please suggest me what treatment can i take and what type of exercises can i start to solve my knee pains.
Avatar n tn I had a patella realignment procedure in April. My knee has healed great and is pain free. I'm back to doing all physical activity - except running. The knee feels excellent; however, I have alot of pain at the graft site on the tibia when I try to run. My three month follow up x-rays showed the bone was healing excellent, the screws were in place, and the grafted piece was in perfect alignment with my tibia. Is the bone pain normal, and is there anything I can do to speed the recovery?
Avatar n tn Lack of progress and improvement becomes understandable when one considers that typical evaluation and treatment are directed at the symptoms. But with chronic knee pain, and many other pain syndromes, actual benefits may be obtained by addressing underlying biomechanical problems. Faulty biomechanics are at the root of many ongoing knee problems. Of course, various other diseases and orthopedic conditions may cause the same type of chronic pain.
1961313 tn?1326290364 I have problems with my knees, just general stiffness-but one day I had to get down on my right knee and the pain was extreme,it wasn't necessarily in the knee but to the right side of the knee,it felt like the skin was splitting into,I look and the skin looked fine,so I don't know if it's the tendon or the muscle what ever it is,is very painful,in fact I can't get down on my knees any longer
Avatar f tn In October 2010 I had bilateral TKR after suffering from knee pain due to osteoarthritis for more than a decade. After being fully informed I was convinced that the pain in my knees would be gone and walk like normal. My right knee was slightly less painful than the left which was constantly in pain . Xray scan revealed ther was no space at all in the joints and both bones had become almost fused. A must for TKR, the operation was done in both knees on the same day. Post op was event free.
Avatar f tn I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. When I am walking and I have to turn or piviot, I get a pain that runs the inside of my knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
