Knee pain from fibromyalgia

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain from fibromyalgia

knee-pain

Avatar f tn Around January of 2010 I started experiencing horrible pain in my right knee. After taking some time off from the gym and still experiencing chronic pain, I made an appointment with an orthopedic knee specialist. I had x-rays done and was told that my knee looked beautiful (structure-wise I guess) and that I probably had something called Femoral Pain Syndrome or Runner’s Knee. He recommended physical therapy, a knee brace, and said I should be fine in a few weeks.
1961313 tn?1326290364 I have problems with my knees, just general stiffness-but one day I had to get down on my right knee and the pain was extreme,it wasn't necessarily in the knee but to the right side of the knee,it felt like the skin was splitting into,I look and the skin looked fine,so I don't know if it's the tendon or the muscle what ever it is,is very painful,in fact I can't get down on my knees any longer
Avatar m tn The other knee I dislocated in HS sports when I was a senior. I am 45 now and I started having chronic knee pain in both knees about 3 months after the knee surgery. The pain has never gone away and I wear knees support braces daily. The past 2 weeks my left shoulder back and chest have started with pain also and then about a week ago my left elbow now has severe pain.
892665 tn?1259171714 I wonder if my Fibromyalgia is increasing the pain I feel from the arthritis? Am I ruining my chances of mobility by putting off the TKR?
Avatar m tn It is a disorder classified by the presence of chronic widespread pain and tactile allodynia(pain even on touching). If there is any deep seated pain in knee then causes of knee pain need to be ruled out. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar f tn within the last 3 weeks i have been getting short but extremely intense stabs of pain in my left knee. The pain originates just to the right of the place where docs usually tap to check reflex action. The pain feels like a jolt of lightning almost and last from 5 to 30 secs. It comes on very suddenly and stops the same way. went to the doctor twice. First he gave me Voltarin forte to take as he could not cause the pain himself during his examination of me knee.
Avatar f tn PS My mother (94) drinks apple cider juice everyday for her arthritis pain. She says it works for her.
Avatar f tn Hi, i only placed this question in this category because my family historically suffers autoimmune disease. I don't really know what the problem is. I have serious pain not in my joints and i am not sure it is in my muslces either. it seems to be tendons. from the elbow to the wrist and from the thigh to the knee and knee to ankles. it have had two 'attacks' like this in the last month.
Avatar f tn I had arthroscopic surgery on my right kneein June of 2014 for arthritic problems. I have had bad pain ever since. Since the surgery I have had cortisone shots that have not worked and physical therapy that provided no relief. I went to get a second opinion and that doctor pretty much blew me off. I have a diagnosis of fibromyalgia so I know I don't necessarily process pain the way normal folks do. I fell two weeks ago, landed on the right knee, and have suffered ever since.
Avatar f tn Have you noticed any swelling or redness? I have frequent rt knee pain from a chronic tendon injury. But also joint pain there from Systemic Sclerosis. Unfortunately, isolated pain like that without any known trauma is impossible to diagnose without imaging. But I would try ice and rest. Increasing pain meds will only make them less effective for your chronic pain in the long run. (In my experience). If it doesn't go away or get better, I'd call your doctor.
Avatar f tn About a month later my wrists started to feel better, but I started getting the same pain in my ankles, and my left knee. It really hurts alot when I walk or have to lift my knee. My knee almost feels swollen. I have never heard of a joint pain that moves around I am so lost. I am tired of taking Ibprofin and sleeping on a heating pad! I went to my primary DR. He took blood, x-rays and urine, but they all came back normal.
Avatar m tn last couple of days I am facing all over body pain ( more in calf muscle) and having a fatigue feeling. I consulted a doctor and he tested my blood , urine etc for Sugar , kidney function etc. Nothing found wrong. After reading about Fibromyalgia I found some symptoms are matching . Avatar n tn For the last 7 weeks I've been suffering with awful back aches (lower & middle), pelvis & hip pain. I also often get a severe muscle ache in both flanks. One knee is swollen & I'm experiencing pain in the tendons around my elbows, knees & thumb. I'm currently on NSAIs but they don't seem to be helping. I just feel awful (oh, and when I move my joints / back make loud clicking noises!).

Avatar f tn I have pain in both my upper arms. I suffer from osteoarthritis and wondered if it is connected, I know it is in my spine. The pain is enough to disrupt my sleeping, and I sometimes find it difficult to pick up or hold a book to read because it's so painful. I have to sleep on my side and I'm not sure if it's connected to that. I have tried putting heat on and it doesn't seem to make any difference.
Avatar f tn my question is could all the pain be from the vitamin d defiency or from fibromyalgia? also having shoulder pain although not everyday.
Avatar f tn Fibromyalgia. Knee pain and clicking; Fibromyalgia. I feel like finding all new doctors and not disclosing my Fibromyalgia, just so I can get an oppinion not fogged by Fibromyalgia. How do you get a doctor to see beyond the Fibromyalgia, and take other concerns seriously.
Avatar f tn Hi, Fibromyalgia can cause chronic deep muscle pain. There are many ways to decrease this muscle pain and one of them is water exercises or water aerobic. Warm water will be very comforting. The exercise will increase the blood flow to the muscles and tendons and thereby decrease the pain. http://www.webmd.
Avatar f tn I have had migratory joint pain for 4 weeks. It started in my knee, and has traveled from joint to joint. It gets so bad that I cannot climb stairs by the end of the night without difficulty. I have difficulty writing due to the hand and wrist pain. I am stiff and sore in the joints in the mornings, it gets better during the day and then the pain is severe in the evenings. I have had blood tests for Lupus, Rhematoid arthritis, lymes and parvo and they have been all negative.
390388 tn?1279636213 One possible symptom of fibromyalgia is Costochondritis. You can also have pain in your sternum from this. If you have spoken to your doctor and they have ruled out all possible serious diagnoses then I would almost feel assured that it is fibro.
Avatar f tn In October 2010 I had bilateral TKR after suffering from knee pain due to osteoarthritis for more than a decade. After being fully informed I was convinced that the pain in my knees would be gone and walk like normal. My right knee was slightly less painful than the left which was constantly in pain . Xray scan revealed ther was no space at all in the joints and both bones had become almost fused. A must for TKR, the operation was done in both knees on the same day. Post op was event free.
602326 tn?1376423548 I have been in chronic pain for 12 years. I have had Major surgery L4-L5, C5-C6, and my right knee. I have Fibromyalgia and Rheumatoid Arthritis. I want to move from Maryland to the Tampa area but am petrified because it seems so many say the doctors there will not prescribe pain meds. I have gone to the same doctor for 11 years. He has gone through everything with me. Please help me if you know of a good doctor who will write for patients truly in pain. thank you so much!
Avatar f tn I blew my left knee 1yr ago and had knee surgery and it is not recovered yet, so I wear a knee brace everyday on that. The ortho gives me Cort shot every 6 months or so but that only helps a little.... I hope that they make a DX soon b/c I am scared to death. I don't feel like myself anymore, I fell 100 years old and am only 36..
