knee-pain

Avatar m tn Now I am paying for it, my knee gives way and I have very bad pain every day my leg is half the size of my other and you can see the sutures move in my knee. I have to go for a Camera in my knee in 4 weeks have I damaged my self ? or can i repair this? pls give me some advice I know its my own fault.
Avatar f tn After menisectomy I would suggest you to go for physical exercises and exercises to strengthen your quadrceps femoris muscle before thinking about surgical procedures. Rehabilitation after arthroscopic meniscectomy carries little or no risk. Rehabilitation is continued until the knee has regained full range of motion and strength .
Avatar m tn Leg presses and lifts still aggravate my knee so I have been doing exercises to build up the side of my legs and my gluts in hopes of off-loading weight from my knee. These exercises have caused mild irritation but are now aggravating my knee, presumably because the cortisone is wearing off. Neither the doctor not the physical therapist can pin point a diagnosis. Its really frustrating and I am reluctant to do surgery when the MRI showed nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you.
Avatar f tn m reading online, I see to rest it and discontinue any activity that aggravates the knee or causes pain. I was curious whether I should be using crutches or not, I just don't want to make it worse. The orthopedic didn't say anything about it, and just gave me a NSAID cream to put on it for the swelling and what-not.
Avatar f tn I have resigned that I will just have this pain and need to manage it with ibuprofen. In the last three months I have however been having a new more severe pain in my left knee. It hurts pretty much constantly, but worse during physical activity, and hurts like a bruise when pushed on. I decided to see my pcp to get some answers because the left knee has really been holding me back and too painful to ignore.
Avatar m tn I have been having knee troubles since mid november of last year. The pain came up about two weeks after basketball had started and it hasn't gotten much better or worse to this day. The pain comes when I jump, squat, lunge, etc. which causes playing basketkball very difficult. The pain is worst directly on my kneecap.
Avatar f tn Wow! Thanks for the info. I went to my orthopedic surgeon (I'm due to have a partial knee replacement on 6/17). When he read the report, he said that the tear is off the muscle not the bone. No surgery is warranted, (they don't sew a tendon back to a muscle) but extended rest of the muscle while it heals. He said that scar tissue would form and though I won't have as much mobility as before, it will heal with time.
Avatar f tn I am a 20 year old female college student who is fairly healthy and exercises regularly (3-4 times per week). For 1 month I have been experiencing pain in my left knee. The pain occurs mostly above the knee cap and slightly along both sides. I have never had any knee injuries nor do I remember injuring it prior to when the pain began. I made a doctor's appt for February 22nd but it seems to be getting worse and i'm not sure if I will be able to handle the pain.
Avatar n tn It is not a cramp because there are no knots on palpation and stretching does not help. If I sit and flex my hip, the pain moves into my patellar tendon, similar to the pain I have experienced for years, but much much worse. I have no idea what is going on... any help would be appreciated. Also, I was a gymnast for 13 years so I have had my share of orthopaedic problems, but never in my knees. I am also extremely flexible so muscle tightness is not a cause... Thanks!
Avatar m tn Anyone who responds to this, do you think i will need get surgery on the other knee. And last question. Is PFS common in black people and can PFS result in a patella tendon rapture.
Avatar f tn First you have to find out whether the muscle wasting was the cause or the effect of knee locking or knee pain. Generally weakness of the inner thigh muscles and tightness of the outer thigh muscles causes the knee cap to move from its place and cause knee pain and knee locking. This could have happened in your case if you have a localized muscle wasting only.
Avatar m tn I have recently been diagnosed with a tendon tear in my knee, and more specifically the patellar tendon, the doctor said he does not want to do surgery due to the 6 to 12 month rehab time with this procedure and since it is not completely torn, but without surgery it looks like i will not be 100 percent again and get back my capabilities.
20881263 tn?1561816684 I had my left quad tendon rupture and am now four months post op. I still have some knee buckle even after three months of therapy. Will this eventually go away? If not, is there a brace that can alleviate the buckling?
Avatar f tn believed no injuries and have loose tendon...and is gave me exercises. I go back on Wednesday.
Avatar m tn I have had knee pain since I was a kid. I am 20, and I have been a swimmer up until last year. I believe it may come down to more than one cause, but I will leave that up to the professionals to decide. Bascially, I have alot of pain around my pattella when squatting past 30 degrees. I believe it is in part due to patellar mistracking. I have been working on flexibility in my hamstrings and quads, as well as strengthening my VMO, since it is weaker than the outer quad muscles.
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you do stretching exercises to lengthen the tendon gradually. Pull up on your foot (ball of foot and toes) slowly toward your shin. Hold it and then release. Do this several times until you feel the stretch. It should gradually get it back to "normal". There are other tendons and ligaments in your foot that may have been affected as well. Try to do the stretching when the foot is warm, like in a warm bath.
Avatar m tn Is the pain under your knee cap or tendon? From what you are saying it sounds like your saying under your knee cap. You could have patellofemoral syndrome; very common for cyclists (read your bio). Try this website. http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/sma/sma_patellod_sma.
Avatar m tn sudden knee pain during pt and continued pain interior medial aspect. medic took xrays - all ok. Soft tissue issues. therapist can feel the popping of (muscle, ligament, tendon???) during flexion and extension. It feels like something has to pop over something else for leg to straighten. It hurts when it does. Occurs during weight-beating and non weight bearing. Therapist says muscle may be increasing in bulk but not stretching out causing other soft tissues??? to have to pop over them.
Avatar m tn Ok, so the end of last academic year, i had this bad pain that was right above the knee, not in the joint, but above it, but after a while it went away, and i was happy. A few weeks ago it came back, i went to the doctor, and he diagnosed it as a chronic muscle strain. They took x rays and stuff, and it all showed up perfect. They just today took x rays of my hips. The pain has not gone away, btw i was put on crutches and this leg brace thing that only lets me bend 90 degrees.
4671444 tn?1357794171 It can also be tendinitis due to inflammation of tendon at the knee joint. Since you had tendon injury 4 years back, this time too it could be a tendon troubling you. Hopefully the MRI will explain the cause of your pain. Meanwhile please rest your knee and avoid weight on it. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you.
Avatar m tn Now about a month back i had fallen while snowboarding and it bent my knee inwards the pain at the time wasnt too bad but its worsening and also is making my ankle hurt more. Im only 21 years old 140 lbs any type of reason for the constant ankle pain would be appreciated.
Avatar n tn Aqua therapy without pain. But sometimes running in pool would cause pain in the patella. Strength exercises would cause some pain in patella. But not as bad as running. Running would always make it hurt. In that inner/middle part of patella. On Dec 1 ( 5 1/2 months post surgery) He Started doing more intense strength training on his legs to improve the quad muscles. His quads are getting much stronger. His right leg is almost the size of his left.
Avatar f tn How are you doing now I was trying to find a success story but amongst these posts but so far no luck and everyone has muscle, tendon or knee pain months and sometimes years after the event.
Avatar f tn Ive recieved some physio since and the pain subsided in those areas but i have been left with chronic pain above my knee in my quadricep area above my kneecap. The muscle is completely bulged with my leg straightened and is proving very painful to walk on and is also painful at rest too with a warm feeling in it but not to the touch. I'd always pointed this out to them but it was pretty much ignored by the consultant. The physio said it maybe the tendon but left it at that.
1666982 tn?1445198395 When I was 14 I went to a Orthopedist to have him help with my knee pain. He wanted me to have shoes made to help with the problem, but did not have the money to get corrective shoes. I now have Osteoarthritis in both knees. I think it would have helped to get them because now I have a lot of arthritis pain in my low back, hips and knees. My orthotics I have now help some.
Avatar m tn I would first say, do not do any exercises that cause pain. The pain could be realted to the knee cap. Apply ice (no heat!) 10 minutes at a time a few times a day.
1961313 tn?1326290364 I have problems with my knees, just general stiffness-but one day I had to get down on my right knee and the pain was extreme,it wasn't necessarily in the knee but to the right side of the knee,it felt like the skin was splitting into,I look and the skin looked fine,so I don't know if it's the tendon or the muscle what ever it is,is very painful,in fact I can't get down on my knees any longer
