Avatar f tn I have been running on and off for about 3 years, but very regularly for the last year. I struggle with pretty bad joint pain in my knees, ankles, and hips from running, and also wrist pain regularly also. I have resigned that I will just have this pain and need to manage it with ibuprofen. In the last three months I have however been having a new more severe pain in my left knee. It hurts pretty much constantly, but worse during physical activity, and hurts like a bruise when pushed on.
Avatar f tn I would suggest resting the knee till the pain and swelling settle. Ice-packs and NSAIDS may also be helpful for relief. After that I would advice seeing a physiotherapist for exercises that would strengthen you hamstrings. You may also consult with your doctor if you would be required to wear a knee brace. Avatar m tn Hello, I have been having pain mainly in my left knee above and to the left of my left knee cap. I have had X-Rays and a MRI to see if any problems can be found. The doctors said they have found nothing wrong. I went a physical therapist around April of last year during spring track. He said I didn't have enough thigh strength. I do the exercises daily he instructed and they seem to not work anymore. Right now I am running winter track.
Avatar n tn Aqua therapy without pain. But sometimes running in pool would cause pain in the patella. Strength exercises would cause some pain in patella. But not as bad as running. Running would always make it hurt. In that inner/middle part of patella. On Dec 1 ( 5 1/2 months post surgery) He Started doing more intense strength training on his legs to improve the quad muscles. His quads are getting much stronger. His right leg is almost the size of his left.
Avatar m tn and was given a few strecthes and leg strengthening exercises to help with my knee problems. Well, after a solid two weeks of performing these exercises, my knee feels strong and well. But whenever i have to stretch and put my left knee into my buttox the entire knee feels an incredible amount of pain. Also, whenever I try and sit on my ankles, I am in HUGE amounts of pain just in the left knee.
Avatar f tn My 3 year old grandson has leg pain but can't even stand on his left leg it hurts below his knee and its all day for 2 days now could it be a nerve problem. It's not like i've heard of others that hurt at night he sleeps fine.
Avatar n tn Try to reduce your workouts as pain may persist so long the maintaining factor is present.Your knee problem further adds to your pain,so be cautious. To relieve the pain you can apply some topical drugs like voltaren emulgel and take acetaminophen if required.Consult a orthopedic surgeon if there is no significant relief. All the best.
Avatar f tn due to medical restrictions makes it difficult to exercise. Does anyone here have any advice or exercises that could help me get my legs stronger? I am not yet stronger enough for running or jumping but am willing to do whatever it takes to get stronger. All comments are welcome and thank you for taking the time to listen to my rambling.
Avatar m tn I was putting in padded flooring in my home gym for about 4 hours. Since then I've had pain in my right knee only when kneeling on my right knee (like when tying shoes). It's to the side of the knee and feels like something is being stretched laterally at first, before I get a sharp pain that feels like it's stinging/tingly. It is not completely on the side of my knee, but in the softer area to the side of my knee cap.
Avatar m tn When I had cartilage surgery on my knee, I was given exercises to start the day after surgery (yes, it hurt). I was expected to have full ROM in two weeks or less. Doing the exercises made all the difference. Were you given exercises, are you doing them, and are you seeing a physical therapist? Your answers should be yes, yes, yes.
Avatar m tn I play street hockey and while running during a game about 2 weeks ago, I landed a bit awkwardly on my right foot. I felt like I had jammed or very slightly hyperextended my knee. The pain was moderate and after a day or so it was all but gone. I have suffered no 'real' injury from this, as I am able to walk, run, work out, etc. with no issues or loss of performance. However, since the event I've noticed that my knee aches after I play hockey.
Avatar f tn I am 26 and have had knee pain for 2 years. I have been living in Asia and have had a difficult time finding a doctor that a) speaks English and b) is helpful in diagnosing the problem. Most doctors have said they are not sure what the problem is and that I should just rest and take pain medication. After 2 years of doing this I am becoming really frustrated.
Avatar f tn I get unbelievable pain from my knee down to my ankles when I jog. After about 40 minutes that pain is some what tolerable and I can jog for 4-5 minutes straight. For the rest of my day my ankles are sore. Does anybody have any idea what this is?
Avatar n tn prior to the surgery i had throbbing knee pain in posterior right knee. they tried cortisone shots - 2nd one helped but wore off quickly. even after TKR i STILL have this pain. Cold weather intensifies the overall pain. i still have on going knee pain in general and doc says takes sometmes ONE YEAR before see difference. When they did the TKR they did clean up some scar tissue (had 4 prior procedures before having TKR).
Avatar m tn It would happen to 1 or both legs at same time. when i stop running i would have to continue to walk to ease the pain. I never experience anything like this when i used to run in the treadmill.
Avatar m tn The pain lasted for more than 2-3 days.. Now the pain from hip has shifted towards my knee and thigh area. The pain is constant and specially in the area behind my knee, and on thighs. And now the pain has again expanded to the ankle area (the joint between feet and leg). I have tried doing exercises and such activities, and had some pain killer medicines as well, but the pain has not decreased. The pain especially increases during nights.
Avatar m tn about 2 and half months back i kinda overstretched my knee during stretching exercises, i felt excruciating pain later, i went to a doctor and he gave me pain killers for 3 weeks, saying its probably not a tear but swelling,will subside with time, since then, it remains, i try to jog and stretch with same condition. at times , it increases and at times, it doesnt. at times, when knee turns at an angle, it gives a giving away feeling, with pain, wonder what should i do?
Avatar f tn m reading online, I see to rest it and discontinue any activity that aggravates the knee or causes pain. I was curious whether I should be using crutches or not, I just don't want to make it worse. The orthopedic didn't say anything about it, and just gave me a NSAID cream to put on it for the swelling and what-not.
