Avatar n tn In basketball practice I made a cut and felt a sharp pain in my right knee. After that, running and jumping has caused much pain in my knee. I went to an athletic trainer and they told me I had tendinitis and to ice and take ibuprofen. It continues to be very painful during practice. I can feel rubbing and clicking in my knee when I walk. What is wrong with my knee? Should I still be playing basketball or will it make it worse?
Avatar m tn Knee replaced 11-13-09. Finally felt I've been making some progress until yesterday. During therapy, performing lateral steps over 6" hurdles, I felt a sudden pain and kind of a pop on the interior medial aspect, a little toward the back of the knee. During the course of the day, I would experience sudden pain causing me to yell out, even when non-weight bearing. My wife appreciates this.
Avatar m tn Respected Madam, There is no pain in my knee and also i didn't done excessive exercise. I took rest for 6 days without any exercise and swelling was gone. Again after that i started very light exercise and then swelling is increased but it is not that much as was before(It is seen only during straight leg). Also when i rest my foot on the floor gently with the help of crutches then also i do not feel any pain.
Avatar f tn Last year it was quite recurrent for only a month- during the fall, but I put ice pads and a knee support during the day. Keep in mind the pain only happens when I'm sleep. This year I didn't have it only until I got pregnant for the first time and in my 19 week. It started again while I'm sleeping. I have no idea what to do. It's on and then off for a long period of time and if it happens then is when I'm sleep. Thanks for the help.
Avatar f tn I do notice however that I get sever pain in my right leg and especially knee region when I exercise. My left leg is perfect. It can be extremely painful. Is this normal? Does anyone experience this? When I exercise and start having this pain, should I continue or stop?
Avatar m tn During therapy the knee pain has gone away but the therapist has conducted range of motion exercises in her hips and discovered during an exercise where my daughter is lying on her back and the therapist brings either knee up and across her chest, she has serious pain in her hip joint area. The therapist has recommended a orthopedic hip specialist will fix her problem. does anyone have an idea what the specialist might determine what issues my daughter may have with her hips?
Avatar f tn Exercise can help reduce stiffness and pain, and it can also help you lose weight, which takes pressure off aching joints. Losing as few pounds can cut the risk of developing knee osteoarthritis by 50% for some women. Although OA typically affects the knees, your hips, hands, lower back, and neck may also be affected. Always ask your doctor before doing any exercise! Warming up with gentle stretching can help get your body ready for your workout.

Avatar n tn wondering what causes pain in my right leg during the night? It doesn't hurt at all during the day. It's not a cramp, it just hurts. Thanks!!
Avatar m tn I had open excision of bipartite patella and lateral release to my left knee in August 2014. I had a hematoma and potential infection so they did a clean out in September 2014. I was still experiencing pain and tightness in my knee as well as in the quad tendon but have been able to resume training with running, squatting, jumping, etc. Laying on my back, lifting my leg, and bending my leg back and forth usually creates some discomfort and a little grinding in the knee.
Avatar m tn ve learned to pay closer attention to my body and how I strain my knees sometimes unnecessarily during exercise as well as during not doing anything exercise related throughout the day. I've found out for instance that I tend to put more weight to the outside part of my sole which in turn strains the whole leg. I've worked towards fixing bad habits a lot during the last year. That being said, no, I've never found out what was wrong with my knee..
Avatar n tn Do you have access to a gym? Or is this for at home exercises without any equipment?
Avatar f tn My dog tore the tendon in his left knee in the back. He had previously torn the tendon in his right knee. Both times we used conservative treatment and the knee healed. We don't allow (although he doesn't always listen) jumping up and we've blocked off the stairs. We also only let him out in the yard and don't take him for long walks. Should he be taken on longer walks? or do I continue with the conservative care guidelines. We can't afford to take him back to the vet yet.
Avatar f tn t smoke, rarely drink. During the night and when I first wake up, I am experiencing excruciating bilateral knee pain. I noticed the pain about 4 months ago and it is worsening. I know it sounds crazy but I have to pull myself up, using the wall and toilet with my arms, to get up from the toilet when I get up to urinate in the night. As the day progresses, the pain is still there but not as intense as during the night. My knees are also swollen at all times, L>R. I walk for exercise.
Avatar m tn I had a meniscus injury almost 2years ago a tear in left knee due to gym exercise while doing thighs exercise and from that time I was exercising my legs and their was no more pain after nearly 8 month , just yesterday I did the same movement once again and I hearted a pop in the same knee and a little pain with a bending movement in the same place after examining it by my self by pressing on the spot is it possible that the tear had happened once again ...
Avatar f tn Drink 1 to 3 cups right before you exercise, and stay hydrated during exercise by taking small sips of water. Avoid fully hydrating until you are finished exercising. Eat a diet that contains fruits and vegetables high in mineral content, and take a multivitamin to ensure proper electrolyte supply. Warm up before exercising and gently stretch your feet.
Avatar f tn 8 mph on the treadmill with no problems for 45 mintues. Now after 5 minutes on the treadmill at level 3.0 my knee pain starts up (same pain as the ITB). It's like someone is winding up my knee really tight with a screwdriver. What is up with this!!?? It is so frustrating. I had goals of at least walking a 10K and 1/2 marathon. I can do the elliptical, step, kickbox, etc all with no problems. I have been doing a lot of walking around, shopping, errands, etc. with no problem.
Avatar m tn If I sit on a chair for a few minutes, then attempt to move my right knee, or stand up, I will experience excruciating pain all along my joint. It's mostly under my kneecap. My left knee is perfectly fine. The thing is, though, that it isn't because of long periods of inactivity. If I wake up in the morning and sit on a chair for only a few minutes, the pain will be just as bad as it would be during the rest of the day.
Avatar f tn I was quick to put the blame on the Interferon, the knee pain, but as Flycyclist pointed out, earlier in the thread; anyone (espesh my age, lol) could damage their knee cartalge, with a seat post too low, riding up hill on a bike! I took a hot-tub, and then on to gentle exercise. I have to remind myself, "easy does it". So many chores piled up during my Tx, but I need to give myself 6 months to completely recover.
Avatar f tn Mobility is excellent but I am still in a lot of pain. If I am on my feet during the day, I have increased pain and the knee is hot and slightly swollen. I was faithful to rehab and am now anxious to be more active. It's so discouraging.
Avatar f tn Joined a gym 3/08 and have been diligent with my workouts. A few weeks ago I developed pain on the outside of the replaced joint during the transition between flexing and extending my knee (feels like a tendon/ligament gets "caught" on the joint and then releases). I've been taking NSAIDs and the pain has lessened a bit. Does anyone have a suggestion on what may be causing the pain or is it time to see my surgeon for another follow-up? Thanks in advance.
Avatar m tn 30, with my gf and my knee got super tight and after another step a SHARP pain shot through it and I nearly fell. We had only gone about 4 miles and had warmed up properly and stretched, the weather was warm so I wasn't cold or tight when it happened. I have seen my medical department and they suspected ITB or Meniscus problems. However after about 2 months of aggressive icing, stretching, and physical therapy I can now run LESS and less before the pain comes back.
