Knee pain diagnosis kneecap

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain diagnosis kneecap

Avatar m tn Pain, swelling, popping sound in the knee could be due to arthritis, as it is the most common cause of pain in the knee after recurrent injuries to the knee. Burning, tingling and radiation of the pain to the hip and ankle relates to compression of nerve. I would suggest that you visit a orthopedician and get x-ray and MRI of the knee to confirm with the diagnosis. All the best.
Avatar f tn The leg can be straight or bent and the sensation can occur. No problem walking, running, no side knee problems. Likewise, at times, the pain is non-existent in the same postions/situations. Do not recall bumping it, however could have. Anyway, really odd. Appreciate any comments on what this might be.
Avatar m tn t really much pain anymore except for a slight burning feeling directly south of the kneecap and sometimes on the inner side. Also, on that spot directly south of the kneecap is what feels like a rubbery lump (swollen?) beneath the skin that has a slight bit of a bruise type sensation. - I have still been trying to get some kind of insurance going on and I'm not sure I can afford to just go back again without it.
Avatar f tn In my job, I am on my knees frequently. A few weeks ago I started to notice a pain in my right knee when kneeling. The pain is localized, kind of like a pin *****-- feels more like it is in the skin as opposed to being a bone or joint issue. The pain is not illicited by any manual pressure, only the kneeling, which I do often enough that this has become very frustrating. Your advice in this matter would be very well appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar f tn i'm a dancer and I can't extend my knee anymore. I don't know what I did to mess it up. but even laying down i have to force myself to extend it. every time i get it extended it sends sharp pain from the lower part of my knee up to my hip bone. I'm only 20 so the thought of knee replacement scares me half to death. I can't start my career in dance until my knee is back to normal.. i've tried icing it, stretching it, biofreeze you name it i've probably tried it.
Avatar m tn About two weeks ago I was coming down the stairs and my knee locked up and I got this terrible biurning pain right where my knee joint and knee cap meet on the right side. I was in agony and could hardly put any weight on my right leg because it felt like it would give out. Then after a half hour or so the pain went away and I was back to normal. It happens every once in awhiile mostly while I am coming down stairs. What could this be and what could be causing it?
Avatar f tn Until it pops, I have awful pain that is on the inside on my knee and underneath my kneecap and sometimes I have shooting pain go from under my kneecap all the way up the center/middle of my thigh to my hip. My right hip is in the same position as my knee where I have to force it to pop to make the pain go away.
Avatar f tn I just noticed that my knee felt bruised when I was leaving work today and I didn't hit it on anything. I looked at it and it is a bit swollen on top of the kneecap. It is red on the top and a couple spots around the kneecap. Also it seems there may be a pocket of fluid on top of the kneecap. It is also warm to the touch. Does any one know what this could be?
Avatar f tn It hurts just underneath my kneecap slightly to the left, also swollen, and a little in the kneecap itself. The thing is, the pain isn't constant and doesn't always prevent me from doing things. It hurts and stiffens up whilst going downstairs, walking down inclined ground or walking for a period of time. I don't know whether it is worth getting it checked out or not because the pain is only dull, just quite frustrating.
Avatar f tn I had a superficial laceration where I landed. Then a few weeks ago my knee began to hurt, localized tenderness, pain, Weakness in thigh/leg, numbness in certain areas of the kneecap and balance issues . Lesions appeared, I thought I somehow got glass in my knee but what I came across is a white bony Substance imbedded in my knee. What could that be?
Avatar n tn Hello sarabear and welcome to the Pain Forum: I think what you're experiencing is called Runner's Knee (Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome) The knee is a complex joint. It includes the articulation between the tibia and femur (leg and thigh) and the patella (knee cap) and femur. The most common knee problems in running relate to what is called the "patellofemoral complex". This consists of the quadriceps, knee cap and patellar tendon.
Avatar m tn I sat for a while and the pain went away but every time I bend my knee I feel the pain again and feel discomfort in my kneecap. I went to bed, hoping the pain would go away but it still hurts when I bend my knee. What could this be? I will probably be visiting the doctor soon but for now what do you suggest?
Avatar f tn It appears as dark bruising across my whole kneecap. It does not cause a lot of pain, just a mild ache here and there. It is not a result of bumping the knee. It seems to happen if I have been kneeling, even in church. I never know when it will occur. Sometimes I get a strange mild cold sensation in the knee or occasionally, a quick sharp pain. I am not having any trouble walking, and I do not have constant pain when it happens.
Avatar f tn Both my knees click, you can feel grinding when touching the kneecap, and the pain is usually under the kneecap on the inside of the knee. The pain is worse while bending the knee joint. Keeping it straight helps, but does not stop the pain. I've had x-rays and ct scans, revealing that my cartilage is fine, and my tendons are fine. Next step is an MRI. So what could be causing this long term cronic pain? Inflammation is common, and the area gets hot. My hips also suffer.
Avatar m tn I have been having knee troubles since mid november of last year. The pain came up about two weeks after basketball had started and it hasn't gotten much better or worse to this day. The pain comes when I jump, squat, lunge, etc. which causes playing basketkball very difficult. The pain is worst directly on my kneecap.
Avatar m tn Okay, hopefully this doesn't turn out too long. I'm NOT looking for a diagnosis, obviously. I just need opinions. And yes, I have seen a doctor about this and so far have gotten nowhere which is why I am on here asking for ideas. I have had a "bad knee" for about six years now (as far as I can remember it's been since 2007). My knee pops a lot, especially when I bend down; I can actually HEAR it crunching and popping!
Avatar f tn I was in a car accident about a year and a half ago. The dashboard caved in on my legs during impact and hit both of my knees really hard. They were both bruised pretty badly. Turns out, I tore the PCL in my left knee. On my right knee, there was just bruising. However, the bruise turned numb over time and is still there. There's no discoloration anymore, but there's still a lump. It's kinda like someone took a piece of fabric and sewed it in inside my knee.
Avatar n tn After a complete local examination, you will need assessment by a physician for autoimmune disorders like lupus particularly if you have fatigue, pain and swollen joints. The management would depend on the diagnosis. Wishing you all the best.
Avatar n tn I'm 21 and have had trouble with my knees since 2002. I have been to 3 orthopedic surgeons, have had 3 mri's done as well as xrays. I've been through physical therapy twice. The doctors still haven't given me a reason or condition as to what's causing my pain. My problem is a constant aching pain in both knees, numbness and tingling when i bend past 90 degrees. I can't kneel directly on my kneecap. I'm in pain every day.
Avatar f tn I did competitive gymnastics for over 11 years, and I always had some kind of knee pain. I never adressed it, because I figured that it was just from overuse. Now I am a rower in college, and I am having a lot of trouble with my knees. It started in January, so i went to see the athletic trainer at my college. After doing pt and stim and ice with her for over a month, i did not see any results.
Avatar n tn I had a bad fall about a year ago where I landed full force onto my knee which resulted in swelling and bruising that went from my knee down to my foot. I had pain on certain movements from then on. When I would get up sometimes my knee felt like it gave out. Also since then I have not been able to kneel down without pain in the kneecap.
1855569 tn?1319669473 now this is the strange part. its been over a year now and the pain right below the kneecap feels like a big bruise or knot is there and i have to crawl on my knees carefully ifi want to with just the top of my knee. i run a lot do squats im an amatuer bodybuilder if you will cuz i train a lot mainly for the military but here is the other strange thing. whenever i do these exercise there is no pain my knee feels perfectly fine. only whem i put pressure on it. no popping or anything or grinding.
