Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain after running on treadmill

knee-pain

Avatar m tn s a lot of differences between running on the treadmill and running outdoors, outdoors is rough on your knees, your legs, feet and calves, the best place to run outdoors is trails in the forests that are covered with mulch, and places that are soft like grassy fields. Yeah its never good to run on pavement. Also the way you run is highly different.

Avatar f tn Will running on the Treadmill hurt my knee even tho it tightens up? Any thoughts would be appreciated....I want those last 5 pounds gone! Thank You!
Avatar f tn My knee is stiff and painful today underneath the knee cap where the pes anserine tendon inserts and to the inside of the knee cap (medially). I also have pain in the middle of the back of the knee, is especially sharp if I push into it. In terms of comfort and daily activities, I am having no trouble walking except that my knee will get a little swollen (very slight) and stiff if I walk a lot.
Avatar f tn t conditioned enough to be running on the treadmill. Running on a treadmill is jarring. Stay with brisk walking on the treadmill. To be honest there is no need to run on a treadmill. Plus, brisk walking is easier on your joints. Maybe add: Resistance Training Strength Training Elliptical Machine Cycling Whatever you add I recommend something low impact until your weight comes down a bit more.
Avatar f tn 8 mph on the treadmill with no problems for 45 mintues. Now after 5 minutes on the treadmill at level 3.0 my knee pain starts up (same pain as the ITB). It's like someone is winding up my knee really tight with a screwdriver. What is up with this!!?? It is so frustrating. I had goals of at least walking a 10K and 1/2 marathon. I can do the elliptical, step, kickbox, etc all with no problems. I have been doing a lot of walking around, shopping, errands, etc. with no problem.
Avatar n tn Hi I'm asking for someone who says that sometimes when she runs she develops bruises on her legs. She's young (19) and started running several months ago. But after increasing the mileage and intensity of her runs she started having bruises on her legs. Mostly on the outside of the leg above the knee and also on her calfs. She has to stop running for days for the bruises to go away and of course that doesn't help maintain fitness.
Avatar m tn I started noticing that after running for 3 to 5 miles, I get bruises on my knee (the left knee has darker / larger bruise than the right knee). The bruises only hurt like a bruise when I press down on them. But they are not particularly painful when I walk or run the next day. I run about twice to 3 times a week. Question: Is this someting that I need to pay more attention to or is there any knee exercises that I can do? Thank you!!
338416 tn?1420045702 I've been running, which is great - it's reassuring to know that I can still run. Unfortunately, I've been tripping so much that I fear for my safety. I tend to stub my right toe on the treadmill, I guess because I'm not lifting up that foot enough, or the leg enough. I hold on to the control panel so that I can pull myself up and continue running, but it's only a matter of time before I go flying.

Avatar m tn I was using a treadmill on steep incline, and I started feeling a pain in the front outside area of my shin. Upon not so clise inspection I could see a large bump in the area where the pain was prevalent. The large bump remains there, but I have not used the treadmill for over a month. It is unsight and is almost 4-5 inches directly above my ankle. I would like to know whatg it could be, and how I can treat it, or what type of medical care I should pursue please?
Avatar f tn I try to walk straight, take shorter strides, rest for a day or two in between work outs, but no matter what, once I up my speed, whether it is on a treadmill or on the street, my shins hurt so much I actually have to stop. Even when I get a pedicure, when they start the massage part up my legs and press on my shins, it really hurts. I always have to ask them to touch lightly. It really hinders my ability to increase my fitness level by walking or running.
1470596 tn?1286713970 I have recently begun to run (within the past 2 mos) and on some days, my knees feel so tight and swollen and sore to walk on. This is brand new to me.. I do not generally run on pavement and I have cut down on distance to help my knees "get used to running".... Is there any over the counter rx I can take to help with knee health?

1773330 tn?1314171331 i ve been running on threadmill for 2 weeks..i ve got a knee pain...any solution to decrease the pain?
Avatar m tn Running is a big part of my work out. So 2 days ago after a 30 minute run/walk on the treadmill, I noticed a bump on my left knee (the run went fine, with no accidents, just happen to notice my knee). The bump is on the outside and almost below the knee. There is absolutely no pain, or discomfort, and I can run and walk fine with no limp. The bump is almost like a bone or a ligament, is hard in texture and does not give way when felt.
Avatar m tn ve been running with no knee pain. I run on the dirt/grass, where others run on the hard cement. Time after again they would get knee injuries. I quit running in races because I could feel the difference in the hard surface on my legs running verus the dirt/grass. If it was me, since I love running, I would stay off the hard cement. Our joints aren't made for that hard pounding.
Avatar f tn other than draining the fluid wth needle, what can I do to afford fluid from building on knee after I run This discussion is related to Swollen Knee.

Avatar f tn I am looking forward to continue with my running habit, but should I slow down or pause after some time while running? I mean I don't run that long. Or, are they some steps I should follow, does this happen only when you are beginner and does your body get over these injuries with time?
Avatar n tn what i found helpful is to drink some water 1/2 hour before running and alot after running. usually you can tell if your past dehydration when running when you have cotton mouth and white stuff on your mouth (severe dehydration) and try to eat something lite 1 hour before running . like a piece of pb toast or a apple. and i must tell you running everyday is going to whack you out.
