Knee pain after meniscectomy

Common Questions and Answers about Knee pain after meniscectomy

knee-pain

Avatar n tn I am 10 days post meniscectomy. 10% was taken off. I haven't had my post op appointment yet. I am having pain directly under my kneecap (at times - like a tweak) when my leg straightens - lying down or standing. It feels like it grinds against something and I rearrange my leg so that it goes away. I was given a full knee brace and haven't attempted walking without it. I'm scared it didn't work and this is not a normal post op recovery location/type of pain.
Avatar f tn M NOT SURE WHAT TO DO BUT, I DO HAVE PAIN AND TODAY ALOT PAIN. THIS IS BEEN ABOUT 1 YR I THOUGHT I HAD RESTLESS LEGS. WHAT WOULD YOU RECOMMEND.
Avatar n tn I have had extreme knee pain (to the point where I can now barely walk as it is), and I don't know what the problem is. In March 2008, I had an operation to help remove a torn miniscus, and the pain went away after physical therapy. Now it's back (been back for about 5 months), and in BOTH knees now, rather than just one. Went back to the same doctor that did the operation, and he gave me some anti-inflammatories that worked for a week then quit working.
Avatar f tn Pain is an issue as I am allergic to all pain meds ordered to date and take nothing for the pain levels of 9-10. Before injury both knees were healthy, minimal arthritic changes on MRI's in spite of age 58 and obesity. MRI of L' Knee now shows arthritic changes and "new" tears based on MRI. M.D. wants to inject L' Knee with Supartz x 5; no suggestion for repair of EITHER knee although actual status of R' Knee remains unknown as he refuses to order MRI.
Avatar m tn I've recently started skateboarding again its been about 4 months and I usually skate at most twice a week. Lately I've been feeling pain on the outside of my right knee after about an hour of skating. I've realized I usually land on my right leg if I'm jumping off a trick that I know I'm not going to land and this happens repeatedly. My right leg is my front leg when skating so when I land on it I'm also stopping my forward movement.
Avatar f tn I have had three surgeries on my left knee, starting with an ACL reconstruction and medial meniscus repair my freshman year of high school, a lateral and medial meniscectomy my senior year of high school, and I just recently had the same surgery, a lateral and medial meniscectomy this past January, 2010.
Avatar m tn I have been having knee pain for quite some time now. Initially was taking it light, but recently got the same checked and MRI was performed. Dr.'s conclusion are as follow: 1. Grade 2C tear of medial meniscus. 2. Moderate to severe joint effusion distending the suprapatellar bursa with underlying osteoarthritic changes at knee. 3. Bone marrow edema is noted at the medial tibial condyle. Yet to meet my docter in two days.
Avatar f tn I had a my left knee scoped on Aug 22nd and I returned to work Nov 23. My Dr had me limited to 6 hrs shift, but I work retail so of course I've been having to work longer hours than that. So know my knee is swollen and I'm having pain in the again shooting through the back of my knee and sharp shooting pains in the inner knee joint. I'm also having numbness in my foot as well. I called the Dr office and they bumped up my Dr visit. Any advice?
Avatar m tn Hi, I just received the MRI results for my right knee. It shows to have: "Myxoid degeneration of medial meniscus posterior horn with knee joint effusion and suspected partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament for which clinical correlation is adviced". I get only right knee MRI due to its cost, but I'm suffering of similar pain on both knees. What does this mean? Is there any treatment I can do at home to relief the pain? Thanks!
Avatar f tn After menisectomy I would suggest you to go for physical exercises and exercises to strengthen your quadrceps femoris muscle before thinking about surgical procedures. Rehabilitation after arthroscopic meniscectomy carries little or no risk. Rehabilitation is continued until the knee has regained full range of motion and strength .
Avatar f tn The surgery was about a month and a half ago and my knee was feeling great until about two weeks ago. Two weeks ago i feel and kind of fell amd twisted on my injured knee. The knee became very hot and swollen almost instantly after it happened. I have not gone back to my ortho doc yet but my therapist thinks i might have re-torn my meniscus. Does any one know what they would do to fix this? could the repair it again, or would they just do a meniscectomy??
Avatar n tn Hi, I am recovering from a partial menisectomy of my lateral meniscus in my right knee, Although it went great and I am DELIGHTED to be back running again, I was recently informed that I lost 40-50 percent of my meniscus during surgery because it was so torn up. Does this mean that osteoarthritis is inevitable in my near future? I am only 16, and hope to be running as long as I can. :( Is it possible that osteoarthritis could end my pain-free life at age 30?
Avatar n tn Had a lateral release (-10 to +80), partial medial meniscectomy and shaved cartilage on my knee 2 weeks ago. Saw physician 1 week after surgery He exasperated swelling at lateral release incision with no luck in reducing the swelling, he said to keep compress on it most of the time.

Avatar n tn Hello I'm 17 years old and any help is greatly appreciated I was at this party about 7 months ago and i had too much to drink and fell on my knee Since I have been unable to apply pressure to my left knee while bending - without feeling pain - Bending my knee isn't a problem as long as i don't put my weight on it - The pain i'm feeling is just underneath the knee cap.
Avatar f tn m a 46yo fem skier symptoms of joint line pain and stiffness in the right knee. No locking or serious instability although the knee has given a couple of times. 18years prior I had a broken tibial plateau that required bone graft (freeze dried cadaver bone) with 2 screws and meniscus repair on the lateral side. Screws were taken out and the plateau had to be reshaped on both the lateral and medial sides to due excess bone growth from the repair. I've been skiing ever since.
Avatar f tn Back in 2003 I had an ACL Reconstruction on my left knee and have not had issues since then. Over the past month in a half I started having issues and have done nothing to the knee. I ended up having an MRI last week and don't see the doctor until tomorrow, but trying to figure out what this MRI is telling me. I'm thinking its not too good, but thought I could get someone to help me understand it. It will be a little bit lengthy, but here goes....
Avatar f tn I also been falling alot due to pain and knee giving out and there is alot that I cant do. Went and had an mri done and Doctor never went over anything with me just gave me a paper that has the results and told me to go back to pt which im not comfortable with and I dont feel that it helps it just makes me feel worst but I don't understand what the mri results means. here it is: acl: the acl shows no frank tear or mass effect.
Avatar f tn I had my right knee TKR in June 2010, I cannot recall what the pain was pre-op, but I do know that it is very bad and has been since surgery. I have fairly good function with the knee and am able to do the work I love (I would be very depressed to lose that) but work is the whole of my life as it HURTS during the work day and it takes the rest of my day to 'recover' somewhat. I have pain in the night quite often and pain upon waking.

Lateral Compartment: - Lateral Meniscus: There is minimal blunting of the body of lateral meniscus as seen on image 9:21. - Cartilage: There is a focal area of full-thickness cartilage defect of the articular surface of tibial plateau as seen on image 9:21.
