knee-pain

Avatar f tn I have been running more often, and longer then I used to and in last couple of days I have pain in my right hip. This morning I experienced clicking knee but I went for a run anyway . And it stopped for some time. I am wandering am I doing something wrong? I am looking forward to continue with my running habit, but should I slow down or pause after some time while running? I mean I don't run that long.
Avatar n tn I herniated my back in 2003, immediately had a drop foot, had surgery not long after for herniation of L5-S1 area, right after the surgery after I went home I had to be rushed to emergency room, because the pain running down my leg and foot was unbareable.
1470596 tn?1286713970 My recommendation is DON'T RUN!! I was a runner and now have both knees totally replaced either speed walk or use an elliptical. I use an elliptical and stationary bike for the bike my routine is first 90 seconds @ 60-65 rpm then 30 sec. @ high intensity then back to 90 sec @ 60-65 you alternate this for 20 minutes with a 5 minute cool down try to get your heartrate up to your maximum rate that would be 220 minus your age P.S.
Avatar n tn Last thursday I had my right leg crossed over my left with my knee leaning against the edge of my desk while sitting. A coworker thought it would be funny to hit my knee. They hit me really hard right on the Vastus Medalius Muscle. It was originally just a little sore but over the next day or so i didn't feel any pain. Over the weekend I started to get more pain below my knee right on the Pes Anserinus Bursa that makes it painful to walk and run alot.
Avatar m tn Hi, I have pain in the tibia of my left leg, which I think is below the knee cap. The pain started when I was 18, after I got an injury during a basketball game. Now I'm 20 and I still feel the pain only when I engage in physical activity. What's wrong with me. Could these by osgood schlatters disease?
Avatar m tn I'm experiencing a sharp knee pain (left knee), to the side of joint (left side) when i kneel flush on my knee cap. I've had water on the knee (right) many years ago which only occurred when i flew long distance. When i press my knee cap, no pain, nor to the side, only seems to be on hard surfaces with my full weight. Any thoughts, much appreciated.

Avatar n tn Almost a year ago when on a short run, I started feeling this sharp pain in my right knee towards the lower, outside area. I used to run track for years and never had any knee issues. It started out of no where and ever since, if I go on a run for longer than .75 mile, I get the same sharp pain again. If I continue running with the pain, I'll feel it in the same spot for the next 24-48 hours, especially when going downstairs/upstairs and of course when running.
Avatar m tn There is something called 'jumper's knee" and it is a tendon issue with the patella tendon. You'd feel this just below the knee cap or at the bottom of it. That's tendonitis of the area. You could also have something called chondromalacia patella. This is caused when cartilage is thin behind the knee cap and is caused by muscle tightness, weakness and overuse of muscle. Do you feel any grinding with it too?

Avatar f tn 51 yo F, diagnosed with Runners Knee, have been in pain, swollen and limping for 7 months. Dr. says to just keep coming back for cortisone, but it really does nothing. I can hardly walk, I am in pain, do I have to live like this? Is my doctor on the right track? Maybe I have meniscus tears??? It affects everything... walking, sleeping, working. Help!! Also, I have had xrays only. Shows no arthritis. In both knees, although one is worse than the other.
Avatar m tn ve been running with no knee pain. I run on the dirt/grass, where others run on the hard cement. Time after again they would get knee injuries. I quit running in races because I could feel the difference in the hard surface on my legs running verus the dirt/grass. If it was me, since I love running, I would stay off the hard cement. Our joints aren't made for that hard pounding.
Avatar f tn Needless to say before leaving PT I could not use the crutches with the stiff brace so offered a walker and a smaller brace that went above the knee and below the knee with a cut out for the knee. I wore that and stayed off of it as much as possible. Constant pain, heavy Naproxen. 3 wks I went back...primary doctor ordered an xray/mri which I had to wait 2 wks before but did prescribe me Vicotone instead of Naproxen. In 2 wks I walked stiffly in with brace to the xray/mri and had that done.
Avatar n tn Fast forward to now, about two years after the initial pain subsided I have started up a work out program that includes 45 minutes to an hour of daily recumbent bicycle cardio. All was well for a few weeks but all of a sudden I got this knee pain. It started out as just a light pain but has gradually gotten worse over the last week (with continued exercise). The pain is on the inside or the left side of my right knee. It seems to run along the edge of the knee cap.
Avatar m tn However on the other hand, I have had success with a knee injection, also I have strengthens my knee muscles and my bad knee is not nearly as bad. In fact I am having some pains in my good knee that are maybe worse than my other knee. I see the cycle, but you need to lose the weight, strenthen your knees and get an injection for the flare ups. I bet you as I have found their is more life in your knee than you think as I did.
Avatar n tn I am 21 years old, and I play volleyball for about 10 years. Semi-pro, but very intensive trainings, also at summer beach volley... What also might be good to say, since I was a child I could (and still can) jump very high about a meter vertically. A few months ago, I started to have back pain, in my lower spine, and horrible knee pain.
Avatar f tn I have a limited supply of pain killers from the States, and I have over-the-counter pain killers from Japanese pharmacies. Other than that, I would dearly love to hear any suggestions. Thank you very much.
Avatar m tn I have the same problem the pain is the back of my knee but shoots down my leg as well.. anyone have any input?
Avatar n tn Ever since then I cannot knee on a certain part of that knee. If I do I get a sharp, burning, stinging pain that quickly subsides once off the knee. I can walk and run on it fine, and have not experienced any swelling or other problems. I cannot feel any abnormalities on the outside. The pain is on top of the knee. Even pushing on a certain area it is is sensitive. What do you think?
Avatar n tn The pain is on the top left (inside) where the quad connects to the knee (when bent it feels like the top of the bone to the inside of the knee). It hurts to bend my knee after sitting for a long period of time and sometimes need to help it bend. To straighten out the knee doesn't hurt but when I tighten my quad, it is a little sore. There is some bruising on the inner part of the quad. I am hoping it is just a bad bruise and nothing serious. I will try to run later this week so...
Avatar m tn I was just walking up stairs after a short jog about 100m and my knee began to lock up and have intense pain that day. I fought through the pain that day and made it to the next day of training. The pain subsided to the point that i was able to make it through the 4 mile run the next day and so on and so forth. I am about 5 weeks into the training now and have good days and bad days. The pain never really goes away and from what i have learned is that it is probably my IT band.
Avatar m tn have a knot on knee cap when to doc. 1974 said it was like munchhousen something and not the one for women doc.
Avatar f tn Thanks for your update. It's good to hear from you again. I am delighted to hear that you are healing. Wonderful News!! I've researched your past posts and can't find the diagnosis on this last knee surgery. I know it was to be an arthroscopic but if you have a large scar it sounds like it turned out to be more involved. Can you share with us what your surgeon discovered? You back and hip pain may well be as we discussed on your last post...
Avatar f tn The pain gets worse when walking, but running/biking actually alleviates the pain. Since the pain started, I have run two 5ks and a half marathon, with minor pain, but not enough to cause me to not be able to race. The pain is concentrated behind my knee and in my upper thigh. I am terrified its a DVT, due to the fact that walking makes my leg feel so heavy. No swelling/redness as far as I can tell - but my anxiety about this is making it hard to see for sure.
Avatar f tn right knee painI have noticed recently that when I go to knell on my right knee it feels like it has a stone in it and then feels like a hot poker. Once I am on the knee for a bit it is ok but it happens each time. I do run and I have no issues while or after running. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn I have knee pain in my right knee when I kneel down on it.About a year ago the same knee for some reason unknown to me got very swollen & had to use crutches for about a week. Anyway when I kneel down it is like kneeling on a tack. Then it has a sensation of a rug burn to the touch. After about five times of this happening I looked more closely. On the right lower outer edge of knee cap it gets a swell pocket. It does not swell up the entire knee just this oval like shaped pocket.
