Avatar n tn Hello I had an accident where I fractured a part of the tibial plateau. In one knee. It's a simple fracture from what I gather, 4-5 ? inches long, but the x-ray wasn't precise enough for the Ortho. who requested an MRI with a 3-D reconstucted image. She said that if there's too much distance between the bones, too much loss of alignment, surgery will be necessary. Haven't sought a second opinion yet, but I'm wondering if there aren't alternatives to surgery?

Avatar f tn Patients with a loose total knee joint limp. The pain is usually felt in the whole knee area, predominantly in the front, along with increasing stiffness and effusion in the knee joint. With advancing time patient will not be able to put weight and diminished motion in the joint. Diagnosis can be made with the help of X-rays. Revision operation can be considered if there is unbearable pain, progression of osteolysis and loss of function.

Avatar f tn Exam showed hyper knee jerk on right side, impaired vibration sense on right side, pale optic discs and unable to see certain coloured numbers oh and altered sensation. Last week with the NHS neurologist none of the above was mentioned! Second neuro says that even tho i have clear scans and clear LP MS cannot be ruled out as sometimes it can take up to twenty years to present itself.
647391 tn?1275016633 This is because of damage to the knee and missing cartilage. What is your thoughts as to someone my age having knee replacement surgery. Also, what is the quickest recovery you have seen for someone with knee replacement surgery?
Avatar m tn im 44 6 ft 5 325, Ive had 7 operations on my left knee. ACL repaired and both cartlidges removed. I cannot stand more than a couple of hours because of the pain. I cannot straighten it nor bend it more than 45 degrees. Would a knee replacement be my best alternative to getting my lie back?
Avatar m tn I did my Medial collateral ligament on my left knee 10 months ago. I went to see 3 NHS doctors over 5 months and each told me to rest. I then finally got assigned to Physio which really helped. I was told because of the time (5 months) my ligament had attached back to my leg incorrectly. Anyway I have now done 4 months of solid physio and it's just ended. I feel about 85% back.
Avatar m tn Hello, current surgical techniques such as arthroscopies and current post operative regimens, such as early mobilization have made most knee operations more patient friendly. Doctors are also more attuned to pain and are more eager than ever before to find ways to minimize it. Persistent pain following surgery can be due to a hematoma. Admittedly, there are times where persistent pain does not have an obvious cause. MRI can help in finding some lesion which might be causing pain.
Avatar f tn A couple weeks ago I was cleaning and I got down on my knees to clean up a spill and when I was getting up I heard a pop that sounded like a gun going off and it hurt now if I bend my knee it catches and I have to force it to straighten when it straightens it makes a thunk kinda sound and the knee looks like it shifts. I hope this makes sense I have no insurance right now but hope to have it in the next 30 to 60 days but if anyone can give me a hint on what could be wrong I would be so greatful.
Avatar n tn if any one else has experienced something like this plz help me to understand this.moreover doctor has suggested for her an operation for the knee replacement but she doesn't have strenght enough to undergo this surgery as she had already two operations i.e uterus removal ang gall bladder removal.. plz give me some information if anybody has this kind of experience. i'll be so grateful.
Avatar f tn I had scans and doctors confirmed vericocele in BOTH my testicles. They didnt provide any information at all! They told me it's like the veins old people get, that is it. I've now done days of research and find out I may struggle to have children. I'm 26 and just don't feel like a man anymore. Basically from what he said they'll only take action if its accompanied by serious pain. I've also read it gets worse with time and is better to deal with it early?
Avatar m tn I’ve had problems with my knees since 2014 am 25lbs. Weight got thrown on my knee. It didn’t break or anything. My has bothered me over the years but recently it’s worse. I movies into a house with stairs and when I walk or run up the i feel a ripping sensation in my knee. That’s the only way I can describe it. It doesn’t hurt on impact it hurt when I take off so to speak. Also when I have my knee bent for a long time it’s very hard to straighten it.
487443 tn?1208839512 I also found some surgeons treated autism patients by neurosurgery operations. I wonder whether neurosurgery operations are really effective for curing infantile autism and this kind of therapy is mature. Any risks exist in neurosurgery operations? Any successful cases around the world? After the redundant nerves are cut off, is it possible for them to revive after operations? Hope for your replies! Thanks a lot!
Avatar f tn I was having a few sessions with the NHS because I have mild cerebral palsy, but I has my last session last week because my physiotherapist is on maternity leave. During my last session she had a look at my knees because I sometimes get pain in them and noticed that my kneecaps were very slightly rotated and thought that I may be having problems with my mensicus.
Avatar f tn I have an unexplainable rash on my leg next to my knee. It is round, red, bumpy, with white center. It is not itchy or painful and another one is now growing. It was said to be related to birth control or other medication and is being treated with steroid cream. What could this be?
Avatar n tn About ten years ago I developed this morning anxiety, and for the exception of a few months here and there because of knee replacements and other operations (I guess the pain took the place of anxiety) I have had it EVERY morning. My thyroid has fluctuated horribly for the past eight or so years and is still doing so. I have a physical in two weeks and am going to request a trial on Armour. Needless to say it gets me down horribly.

Avatar f tn A couple of days after this incident I started feeling pain in my right knee and the right side of my right neck. Since I have been worrying like crazy reading just about everything on the Internet. I have been to the clinic and had a test but still waiting for the result. The nurse did not seem too concerned saying i was most likely just feeling in pain because I read about it. In the last few days I have been feeling discomfort in other areas like my ribs and shoulders when they are used.
Avatar n tn Thus, ACL prevents the tibia from sliding too far forward and also contributes stability to other movements at the joint including the angulation, rotation at the knee joint. When an ACL injury occurs, the knee becomes less stable and there is a sensation that the knee will 'give out' from under them. Consequently, there would be difficulty in doing high demand work beyond the activities of daily living.
634733 tn?1316625992 There is no inflammation or swelling but there is pain in my one knee joint which I know comes from the arthritis as that is the knee on which I had the arthroscopy. But would arthritis cause stiffness too especially in thigh muscles? and one sided or could that be just because I know walk awkwardly? I know when I try to walk after a short time the opposite leg starts vibrating if I carry on both legs vibrate and I get pins and needles in my feet.
