Avatar n tn Hello I had an accident where I fractured a part of the tibial plateau. In one knee. It's a simple fracture from what I gather, 4-5 ? inches long, but the x-ray wasn't precise enough for the Ortho. who requested an MRI with a 3-D reconstucted image. She said that if there's too much distance between the bones, too much loss of alignment, surgery will be necessary. Haven't sought a second opinion yet, but I'm wondering if there aren't alternatives to surgery?

Avatar f tn I had a knee replacement a year ago and am having pain. I was curious . . . how did they know the glue was deteriorating? Did they do an MRI? I just had and MRI and have been told it could be "mild loosening, bone stress reaction, or stress response". My Dr.'s onlt response was, if it's bad enough redo the knee replacement surgery. How long ago was your replacement surgery?

Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? Like any surgery, knee surgery also has scar tissue which can remain for the rest of the life, but it's size might decrease after the surgery. As you mentioned, it is 18 months after surgery I don't think this scar would dissappear. Normally, the scar will be approximately six to eight inches long. It will be straight down the center of your knee unless you have previous scars, in which case they may use the prior scar. There will be some numbness around the scar.

487443 tn?1208839512 I also found some surgeons treated autism patients by neurosurgery operations. I wonder whether neurosurgery operations are really effective for curing infantile autism and this kind of therapy is mature. Any risks exist in neurosurgery operations? Any successful cases around the world? After the redundant nerves are cut off, is it possible for them to revive after operations? Hope for your replies! Thanks a lot!

Since that surgery his knee has only gotten worse. He has been to every specialist you can think of and has been on extremely high amounts of pain medication with no relief.

Avatar f tn Hello, I orginally asked a question regarding my 80 year old father requiring a 3rd aortic valve surgery. I believe the doctor who answered my query thought I was talking about a CABG re-op, and therefore want to ask the question again as I am not certain his/her answer was relevant to my father's situation.

Avatar n tn Usually cysts come and go based on your cycle. If they don't, I would assume it is an endometrioma (also called a chocolate cyst), meaning endometrial tissue that attached to your ovary. Have they told you the type of cyst it is? In other words, you may not need to have it removed because unless it's an endometrioma, it should resolve on it's own.
Avatar f tn Hi all, I am back at hospital next week to discuss surgery for the removal of all my large bowel. I have been told by the registrar that it will mean loose/watery stools for the rest of my life. I currently suffer with muscle/nerve damage, colonic inertia, slow transit, and diverticula disease. I am currently taking prucalopride and i am not totally happy with it.
