Avatar n tn Hello I had an accident where I fractured a part of the tibial plateau. In one knee. It's a simple fracture from what I gather, 4-5 ? inches long, but the x-ray wasn't precise enough for the Ortho. who requested an MRI with a 3-D reconstucted image. She said that if there's too much distance between the bones, too much loss of alignment, surgery will be necessary. Haven't sought a second opinion yet, but I'm wondering if there aren't alternatives to surgery?

Avatar f tn The USDA released a report in May after inspectors visited 68 breeders in eight states said dogs across the U.S. were living and dying in horrific conditions. The report also said the Animal Care unit of the Animal and Plan Health Inspection Service, the agency responsible for enforcing the Animal Welfare Act, often failed to penalize puppy mill owners, even in repeat cases. Avatar n tn If pancreatitis is part of your dogs issue, probiotics and full spectrum digestive enzymes would be very helpful to take the burden off your dogs pancreas and allow it to heal.
Avatar m tn Ibuprofen and acetopminophen will kill dogs and cats. Acetisalicylic aciid (regular plain aspirin) IS safe for dogs in the correct dose. Check with your vet to see what the appropriate dose would be for your dog based on his breed, age and general condition.
Avatar f tn Patients with a loose total knee joint limp. The pain is usually felt in the whole knee area, predominantly in the front, along with increasing stiffness and effusion in the knee joint. With advancing time patient will not be able to put weight and diminished motion in the joint. Diagnosis can be made with the help of X-rays. Revision operation can be considered if there is unbearable pain, progression of osteolysis and loss of function.
Avatar n tn three operations-2 on r/knee with removal and 1-on left knee-pined togeather.
Avatar m tn Orthopaedic surgeon did McMurray test - was not sure at first whether he heard the clicking sound in my right knee. He did this again and said "yes, i can hear the clicking sound" I did not hear the sound. 2. Bit of discomfort when I start running - Once warmed up it goes away I then saw a biokeniticist. Also recommended knee procedure. They also gave me strenthening exercises, which I am still doing. Run twice a week and some runs are better than others.
193137 tn?1367880063 I had a similar problem and I felt the same, thinking it was cruel to knee my dog in the chest. When I tried it out I got him in the head a couple of times. But eventually it worked. Still he likes to jump but now it is in front of me and not on me. Good luck.
647391 tn?1275016633 I am 50 years old and set to have knee replacement surgery in a month. This is because of damage to the knee and missing cartilage. What is your thoughts as to someone my age having knee replacement surgery. Also, what is the quickest recovery you have seen for someone with knee replacement surgery?
Avatar n tn I too believe in teh holestic vets and I am now feeding my dogs Natural Balance because it has a few things in there that are supose to be good for dogs with hypothyroid. One of my dogs that has this condtion started having seizures.... this i sunder control right now. Avatar m tn im 44 6 ft 5 325, Ive had 7 operations on my left knee. ACL repaired and both cartlidges removed. I cannot stand more than a couple of hours because of the pain. I cannot straighten it nor bend it more than 45 degrees. Would a knee replacement be my best alternative to getting my lie back?
4966610 tn?1362054308 I have a toy/mini poodle named Shadow who is over 12 years old. He weighs 12.5 lbs. He has several serious medical issues including a luxating patella (trick knee) on his right rear leg. Because of his age, and his medical condition, I don't want to chance surgery to repair this as there is more of a risk of fatality from surgery and or anesthesia as he gets older. Unless there is some dire need for surgery, I am looking for a non surgical solution for this problem.
Avatar m tn Almost a year and a half ago my boyfriend started to experience chronic knee pain. In February of last year he had a knee surgery to remove a hematoma and clotted blood and dead tissue. Since that surgery his knee has only gotten worse. He has been to every specialist you can think of and has been on extremely high amounts of pain medication with no relief.
Avatar f tn My 78 yr old mother has been experiencing continous painful sores/blisters in her mouth with pain in jaw up to temple area. She has been to two dentists, two primary care physicians, alerists, ENT, urgent care & emergency room twice, no one has been able to diagnose the problem & have put her on anitibiotics approx. 10 times now. The antibiotics do begin to help but within in 2-3 days after stopping the antibiotics the problem is back.
Avatar f tn I had the Nissen Fundoplication surgery about eighteen months ago, with great results. From the studying I did prior to the surgery, it sounds like the wrap and stitching procedure was too tightly done, and this might result in expulsion of food in the esophagus. I'd strongly suggest you do as much as possible to make sure the repeat surgery is performed by someone with a lot of experience.
1926359 tn?1331588139 Nice to see you!! Sorry to hear about your knee. We talk alot about having a plan in place and you are a perfect example of how doing this works. Hope you heal quickly and can get back to some of the things you love to do.
487443 tn?1208839512 I wonder whether neurosurgery operations are really effective for curing infantile autism and this kind of therapy is mature. Any risks exist in neurosurgery operations? Any successful cases around the world? After the redundant nerves are cut off, is it possible for them to revive after operations? Hope for your replies! Thanks a lot!
Avatar m tn I movies into a house with stairs and when I walk or run up the i feel a ripping sensation in my knee. That’s the only way I can describe it. It doesn’t hurt on impact it hurt when I take off so to speak. Also when I have my knee bent for a long time it’s very hard to straighten it. Sometimes when I walk the wrong way I drop to the ground suddenly because the pain is so bad. The only thing is is that it is not persistent. It’s not a constant pain.
Avatar n tn Much depends on from whom you purchased your pup. If she came from a reputable breeder, they never would have released her with any kind of health issue. Unfortunately, chi's are so popular right now that people get blinded by dollar signs and set up back yard breeding operations that don't allow for the good physical or mental health of the dogs.
Avatar m tn However prior to the operation I used to have blood in my sperm for a number of years and the first two times I ejaculated after the operations it was bloody as before Then I noticed there was no blood in my sperm and this continued for about 9 months Wonderful I thought and what a great success. However after a short lapse of any sexual activity I have now noticed that the blood has appeared again.
Avatar n tn About ten years ago I developed this morning anxiety, and for the exception of a few months here and there because of knee replacements and other operations (I guess the pain took the place of anxiety) I have had it EVERY morning. My thyroid has fluctuated horribly for the past eight or so years and is still doing so. I have a physical in two weeks and am going to request a trial on Armour. Needless to say it gets me down horribly.
Avatar f tn One University guy that does these operations for normal dogs with traumas (like car accidents) totally discouraged my Vet from helping my dog because she has cancer. Can you believe that? Your dog lived 3+ years, and another gal I talked to had a dog with the same cancer in a front leg, (also a Doby) with a successful front leg prosthesis that lived a happy 2 years. But this man totally tried to discourage my Vet. Can you believe that?! (I'm paying the bills, not him!
Avatar f tn Small dogs, especially small dogs that were bred by people who didn't bother to do health testing first, are predisposed to something called a luxating patella. In human terms it amounts to a trick knee. There are varying grades of subluxation, from grade 1, which is mild and causes them to "bunny hop" when they run holding the affected leg up, to grade 4 which is painful enough for them to not want to put the paw down at all, even when they are just walking.
1279419 tn?1271197281 They put a rod in above my knee to my ankle with several pins in the knee and ankle. I since have been back in the hospital 3 times due to excessive pain and swelling. My foot is very numb in certain places to where I cant feel it to the touch. I had shooting pain going from above my ankle to the bottom of my foot They now have me on Gabapentin 300mg. three times a day. You might want to ask the doctor if that will help? I'm not a doc but it sure did help withe the shooting in my foot.
Avatar n tn When I walk I get pain in the shin (tibia), calf, and Achilles tendon, and when I squat I get pain in my knee and sometimes tibia. I can also feel the top of my tibia moving when I walk sometimes. Please let me know what is the treatment for a dislocated tibia? Is there anything that can be done to get the bone back into its proper place? Thank you.
