Avatar m tn With restrictive movements and also by using a brace at your knee joint you can have an elective surgery after 4 months. It is not an emergency and you can explain your surgeon about this and take a suitable date and take the necessary tips from your orthopedician so that you do not damage it any further. Take care!
Avatar m tn I take one ten ml in the morning and 1 to a half before bed to help me sleep. Well i have knee surgery monday and i am very afraid to tell my doctor. He is a knee doctor and never has prescribed me pain meds. I thought of telling just the anesthesiologist but am afraid of not having a prescription in my name. I think I should tell him so I dont have complications from the surgery but dont know the legal issues and basically really dont want them to judge me. Any suggestions?
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.
1148201 tn?1262165258 After a MRI they have found that I have only MCL in my left knee in tact and need to have a operation to fix this. I have found many people with ACL tears on you tube but can't find info on the problems I have in my knee. Where could I see an operation to fix all ligaments if it can be done as will see my Doc soon to discuss the options and would like to know what they are before we do speak?
647391 tn?1275016633 I am 50 years old and set to have knee replacement surgery in a month. This is because of damage to the knee and missing cartilage. What is your thoughts as to someone my age having knee replacement surgery. Also, what is the quickest recovery you have seen for someone with knee replacement surgery?
Avatar n tn I just had surgery less than a week ago for both lateral and medial meniscus tears on my right knee. It was really no big deal at all. surgery was on a friday and I was back to work monday. not much pain involved and I am aleready walking w/out crutches after 3 days. I have been avoiding surgery for about 5 years, and now I don't know why. My personal recommendation is to go w/ your orthopedic doctors advice.
Avatar n tn The problem with knee surgery is the fact that most surgeons don't want to perform the surgery on someone young, they believe it could hinder the recovery process and may actually cause more reconstructive surgeries in the future. It's also a matter of if the insurance will approve the surgery or if you would have to pay for a large portion of it out of pocket.
Avatar f tn I have severe hip pain from athritus can anyone recommend something to relieve it without resorting to surgery (I,ve just had a total knee replacement left knee - hence not very active just now) Be very grateful for any sggestions regardless of outlandishness , ie leg of toad etc!!
Avatar f tn //www.webmd.com/pain-management/knee-pain/acl-surgery-what-to-expect Or is your doctor talking about BEAR (bridge enhanced acl repair surgery)? This is newer and one in which the acl doesn't need to be replaced but heals itself? It uses a sponge injected with your blood. There are supposed to be some promising advantages to this surgery such as faster recovery time and less chance of a retear. But it is newer and less is known about outcomes.
Avatar n tn three operations-2 on r/knee with removal and 1-on left knee-pined togeather.
Avatar f tn Hi, How are you? Like any surgery, knee surgery also has scar tissue which can remain for the rest of the life, but it's size might decrease after the surgery. As you mentioned, it is 18 months after surgery I don't think this scar would dissappear. Normally, the scar will be approximately six to eight inches long. It will be straight down the center of your knee unless you have previous scars, in which case they may use the prior scar. There will be some numbness around the scar.
Avatar m tn My mother had full knee replacement surgery around october. The operation seems to have been a success. But a few weeks after the operation she developed diahrrea. It has now lasted more than 2 months. She has lost 14 pounds. All tests come back negative. SHe has taken several medicines aND probiotics. Her diahrrea is watery. Not solid at all. She goes 4 times a day sometimes more. She has gone 10 times in half a day at some point . Has not taken antibiotics since the operation.
Avatar f tn It is good to go in for a corrective surgery as uneven pressure onto the outer and inner part of knee-joints it has been proved to lead to early developed arthritis, as well as to knee pain and progressing deformation. Legs deformation and pain are the reasons why a great number of elderly people cannot walk normally and in most cases, after arthritis is developed, need to undergo knee replacement.
Avatar f tn t think I can wait and see and hope that if it does get worse they will cover an operation several years later. Wondering if surgery really is necessary, not sure if it is in the red-red zone or red-white zone. If I do surgery what is realistic for recovery time?
1279419 tn?1271197281 I broke my tib/fib Aug 17 2011. They did surgery the day after. They put a rod in above my knee to my ankle with several pins in the knee and ankle. I since have been back in the hospital 3 times due to excessive pain and swelling. My foot is very numb in certain places to where I cant feel it to the touch. I had shooting pain going from above my ankle to the bottom of my foot They now have me on Gabapentin 300mg. three times a day. You might want to ask the doctor if that will help?
Avatar n tn I am still having pain up the back of my knee. How long will it take for me to get well. My femur was packed with cemet & 3 rods.

Avatar m tn The anatomy of knee or knee joint configuration would have changed after the knee fusion surgery to do any sort of surgery after that. Yes I think an orthopedic surgeon experienced in knee replacement after knee fusion could possibly with difficulty could have done it. Keep me informed if you have any queries. Bye.
Avatar m tn Rheumatoid arthritis is a systemic problem and total knee replacement surgery is not a solution as the disease is progressive. This is another issue but as she already has undergone TKR the most important complication for any orthopedic procedure is infection. Maintain complete hygiene and strict asepsis and follow up with her surgeon to decrease the infection with antibiotics or surgical intervention. Take care!
