634733 tn?1316625992 In September last year I had problems with my legs to the point of being unable to walk for a time, which ended in being referred to an orthopedic surgeon. An MRI on my knees in January this year revealed that the right knee has some reduced space, bits of bone / debris and a tear in the meniscus cartilage. This was anticipated as it has given me problems for approximately 12 years. An arthroscopy was recommended and is booked to go ahead on 1st May.

Avatar n tn If neck lymph nodes are enlarged as a result of papillary thyroid cancer, you will need to have them removed in an operation called a modified radical neck dissection. This operation involves removing the lymph nodes along one side of the neck. After the operation, this area of the neck is usually numb because the nerves to the skin in this area are purposely severed in order to remove the diseased lymph nodes.
Avatar m tn Hello, I have had 3 arthroscopies on my left knee to repair my lateral horn meniscus in September 2009, January 2014 and March 2015. Each time after the operation and recovery my knee begins to feel good and strong again. After 1 and a half year since my last operation my knee has felt great, however 5 days ago I squatted down (asian squat toilet), and instantly knew I had torn the cartilage again. Since this moment my left knee has a constant ache/throb.

Avatar f tn Surgical repair for torn meniscus of L' Knee. 3 months post-op it buckled, caused tear during fall to R' Knee and meniscus was surgically repaired but has also failed, although the surgeon refuses to order an MRI to "prove" this latest injury. Pain is an issue as I am allergic to all pain meds ordered to date and take nothing for the pain levels of 9-10. Before injury both knees were healthy, minimal arthritic changes on MRI's in spite of age 58 and obesity.
Avatar n tn I have had extreme knee pain (to the point where I can now barely walk as it is), and I don't know what the problem is. In March 2008, I had an operation to help remove a torn miniscus, and the pain went away after physical therapy. Now it's back (been back for about 5 months), and in BOTH knees now, rather than just one. Went back to the same doctor that did the operation, and he gave me some anti-inflammatories that worked for a week then quit working.

Avatar n tn I had a patellectomy 35 years ago and am scheduled for total knee replacement in December. According to my surgeon, thousands of these procedures have been done and it is actually a simpler procedure without the patella. The recovery period is longer due to the muscle atrophy and general lack of strength associated with the loss of the patella.

Avatar n tn A knee arthroplasty literally means re-shaping and covers a wide rage of procedures of the knee joint. Patellar chondroplasty is a similar term for cartilage on the undersurface of the patella or the knee cap; while plicectomy refers to removal of the plica (fold in the membrane which lines the joint). For the exact details you would need to discuss this with your doctor. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn I have had three surgies on my right knee, the last of which was a full knee replacement. Ever since the second knee surgery I have had this intense burning sensation on the right side of my right thigh. This area is also numb to the touch, though that has been numb since my first knee surgery in 2000. None of my doctors or surgeons have really take the time to determine the root cause of the pain, and it is very frustrating. The pain is coming more frequently know.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I'm a 37 year old who broke her right tibia & fibula a year ago yesterday and had a tibial rod fitted, I'm not sure if it's titanium or stainless steel. I was blessed with a quite quick recover and a few weeks ago even stepped my exercise regime up a notch to high cardio workouts at the gym. Ever since the rod was put in I have frequent had knee pain. Not quite constant but there most of the time. It's worse after exercise, even walking.
