Knee operation lateral release

Common Questions and Answers about Knee operation lateral release

operation

Avatar m tn Believe me, I have had several exended recovery plans. This was the reason for the lateral release operation to take the pressure off the knee / IT band. This made no difference. I have been refered to a pain management clinic, but this doesn't get me back running/exercising or fix what ever is causing the problem.
Avatar n tn Had a lateral release (-10 to +80), partial medial meniscectomy and shaved cartilage on my knee 2 weeks ago. Saw physician 1 week after surgery He exasperated swelling at lateral release incision with no luck in reducing the swelling, he said to keep compress on it most of the time.

Avatar f tn When I was 21 I had my first lateral release on my left knee, my doctor told me I basically had nothing to lose by doing this surgery. He was wrong. I was stupid enough to have a Lateral Release done on my right knee before my other knee completely healed and now have severe chronic pain in both of my knees. After realizing it was getting worse I did some research only to find out that the surgery can have the exact opposite effect on the knee.
Avatar m tn On September 27th/17 i had a lateral release on my right knee, during surgery if was found that i had deep fissue behind my patella, had a torn meniscus, and needed the removal of a thick pilca. i have had a slow recovery and have had consistent pain, snapping, popping, crunching, grinding..ect.
Avatar f tn Lateral lunges, front lunges, half squats, leg press, lateral step ups, knee extension (90-40 degrees), hamstring curls, hip adduction and abduction, hip flexion and extension, toe raises, try all of these under an instructor. I would suggest you to apply ice packs regularly to decrease the pain and inflammation and take intermittent pain killers and go for an MRI and also a second opinion. Take care!

Avatar m tn I ended up having to lateral release done and that solved my issues.
Avatar f tn I am seeing a second opinion tomorrow who does specialize in lateral release.
Avatar f tn I had knee surgery (tibial tuberosity osteotomy with lateral release) 4 weeks ago. Was wanting to hear from other people who have gone through the same procedure. 4 weeks on I can bend my knee about 30 degrees and I am getting a bit more voluntary control of the muscles around my patella. My knee is still a bit swollen and I am still icing 2-3 times per day. I go back to see my surgeon in 2 weeks and would like to know if others have been referred to the physio sooner as this will be 5.
Avatar f tn The day after the mri my knee dislocated and my mother called 911. I had trouble getting my knee back in place. At the hospital they took xrays. The doctor said everything looked fine. The vary next day my knee dislocated again. Im now afraid to move at all. Its a challenge to even get to the bathroom because im so afraid of landing on the floor in pain again. I meet with the doctor again this week. He wants to put me in a cast. Im scared that it will dislocate while in the cast.
Avatar n tn ) lateral, femoral cutaneous nerve becomes trapped in the groin. Treatment is a fairly small operation (nerve release) in the area where an inguinal hernia would be. I asked him if he would have the surgery if it were him and he told me that he did have the problem and that he wouldn't have the surgery. Hope I'm not steering you in the wrong direction.
510679 tn?1265668267 I am 5 months out of having arthroscopic knee surgery for fixing a torn meniscus, while OS was in there he did a lateral release, said my kneecap was offtrack, and removed some bone fragments, cleaned arthritis from around the knee area. I am still having chronic pain and swelling, and cant do alot af activities like bending, squatting, climbing stairs or going down them. Walking is ook for a little while then pain.
Avatar n tn 25 years ago i had a right retinacular release of the right knee. The knee is causing pain on movement; I use movelat gel; now the pain is severe at times. The knee clicks when walking.
Avatar m tn i went to doctor then for MRI on his advice the MRI says FINDINGS ARE SUGGESTIVE OF GRADE 1 INTERAMENISCAL TEAR IN THE POSTERIOR HORN OF THE MEDIAL MINISCUS AND MILD SYNOVIAL EFFUSION apart from this everything was fineLATERAL MENISCUS was NORMAL.BOTH ACL &PCL ARE NORMAL.THE MEDIAL AND LATERAL MENISCI ARE NORMAL.
Avatar n tn Below are the findings of my knee MRI please suggest in this case should i go ahead with the arthoscopy or shall take a treatment..
Avatar m tn I had open excision of bipartite patella and lateral release to my left knee in August 2014. I had a hematoma and potential infection so they did a clean out in September 2014. I was still experiencing pain and tightness in my knee as well as in the quad tendon but have been able to resume training with running, squatting, jumping, etc. Laying on my back, lifting my leg, and bending my leg back and forth usually creates some discomfort and a little grinding in the knee.
Avatar f tn My son hurt his knee in football last Friday night. His MRI shows a MCL tear, partial ACL tear, and a LMT (meniscus tear - 3mm). He'll attend physical therapy in the next week or so. The doctor mentioned that it's not necessary to do surgery right away. Everyone that I talk to encourages me to have him do the surgery due to his age - (18 yrs old - 6'1" - 220 lbs). I want to do what's best for him. Should I get another opinion?
10947 tn?1281404252 What are the success rates of such a surgery and is it worth contemplating? Will the lateral ligament release weaken the lateral side of the knee and what is the purpose of this part of the procedure? Should I consider a second opinion? On the first visit to the Orthopaedist, I told him I did not want surgery. He said he would do what he could to treat the problem conservatively. I saw the results of the x-rays and MRI so I am aware of what the results revealed.
Avatar f tn Thanx for answer. Forgot to mention also I have fibromylagia. I just seem to have so many things going on. Also had a total knee replacement last Nov. and my kneecap keeps going out and my knee is painful and I fall. I will ask this new Doc also Tuesday about my knee. Maybe the lateral release would work on it. They don't cut any of the ligaments though on the side when they put the total knee in? I will get my shoulder taken care of first. The pain is just overbearing in my bicep.
Avatar f tn My first surgery was similar to a lateral release. Now my surgeon is going to try something more extensive. My question is after my first surgery I was given hydrocodone 10mg/325, which didn't do a whole lot. Now right now before my surgery my surgeon prescribed me percocet 5/325, which doesn't do anything, I have to take 2 (so it amounts to 10/325 to feel relief).
1821620 tn?1317256092 Hi. I had a lateral release in June (2011). The surgery hasn't helped and it almost disclocated again today. My orthopedic has been talking about realignment of the knee. I was wondering if it is really worth it and if it will help. If you have had this done please contact me ASAP and tell me if you are pleased with the results. Thank you!
