Knee joint out of socket

Common Questions and Answers about Knee joint out of socket

Avatar m tn -Weak joints run in my family as well as arthritis -I have had Lyme disease twice (once confirmed to have to have been well past the timeframe to have affected my joints) -Sprial fracture on middle and ring finger meta carpels for my right hand -fractured naviscus (not sure on spelling) for my left hand -arthoscopic surgery for a torn meniscus in my left knee -dislocated shoulder that never healed fully. the joint floats in the socket rather then being fully seated.
230262 tn?1316649534 I also had that weird thing happen with my OTHER knee a few months ago where it POPPED out of its socket or something and hurt bad for awhile (that time also scared me, didnt know if i'd "fall off the wagon" and need pills or what, but i got thru it ) But anyhow I dont know if i should try to wait it out again and hope it finally gets better on its own or try to see a Dr today (which wont be easy- the roads are a mess, deep snow and its also supposed to get super windy today along wit
Avatar f tn Not only did my knee hurt when I was walking, it even hurt when I was just sitting. And that sore spot on the outside of my knee was like having an electrical socket on my knee. I barely had to touch it, when that burning pain would shoot from my knee. I thought I was going to need to go the emergency room. Instead, I did what anyone who hates hospitals does. I thought I'd try one last attempt to heal myself, and went for a walk, instead. An hour later, things felt better.
Avatar n tn The hip has a ball and socket like joint, while your knee is moved more by just tendons and muscles. From what it looks like, the articulating - joint- portion of the lower femur has been brusied pretty good. Anteromedial should mean front center part of femur - at the joint with the knee. The condyle is a land mark feature of many bones and can be were muscles etc attach themselves.
Avatar m tn So I had an MR Arthigram done and the doctor said because of the geometry of my hip bone, the cartilage in my hip socket has worn down and arthritis is now present. He told me because of my young age to try and deal with it for 10 - 15 years and then think about a hip replacement? This is the exact reason why I hate going to see a doctor. What a waste. I found this whole thing hard to believe because of how it happened but what do I know.
1088527 tn?1425316975 My hips have ached on and off for years, but in the last month I now have severe pain in the outer side of my right hip. I do get fleeting pain through the knee joints on either side. No pain in the joints of the upper part of my body. I badly fractured my left arm as a teen, snapping the ball off the bone (humerus) that goes into the shoulder socket.
370181 tn?1428180348 You and he/she will then be able to work out a plan of treatment for the pain you are living with. Put the thought of hip replacement out of your mind for now. You would have been in much greater pain for much longer if you were nearing the need for a new hip. See a doc.......put your mind at ease and help that achey hip! Keep me posted, OK Peace Greenlydia Hi Nellie, Everybody is different in the length of time it takes to fully recover from hip surgery.
Avatar n tn Ive googled the hell out of every thing to find out what it is... I'm about to get my mercury fillings out, my vitamin d level back to normal, I refused to take endep and about to sue the boss for a bad office set up... I haven't listed all the diagnosis ... I'd be typing for ever... my current research is on polio and tb ... see what turns up... my partner insists on changing my mindset to a positive one... Think your self healthy... see how that goes.
1496879 tn?1288907191 It sounds like you were prescribed a significant amount of steroids when you were younger and presumably still growing - this is a red flag b/c many people don't know that steroids can come back to haunt you later, as you're finding out. Hip deterioration is a hallmark of prolonged steroid use. I'm really glad you've been doing so well over the past years, and good for you for getting in to be seen as soon as you realized something might be going on.
Avatar n tn i really need help when my pain first started it was when i slipped and fell and my knee went out of socket and ever sence then my knee has frequently gone out of place when i am sitting or walking around and just recently my hole body started to feel funny i took some ibuprofen 600 and went to bed the next morning i woke up to excrutiating painin my shoulder and i dont know what to do please help
Avatar n tn as I too have a lump in the palm of my right hand! I have also had joint pain and muscle aches before, during and after tx. It pain seems to be getting somewhat better (post tx 3 months) but some days are still bad. The worst pain i have is in my ball and socked of my hip... feels like someone is jabbing an ice pick between the ball and joint, when I move) ouch! But more annoying than pain, is just being able to get up from kneeling or working on the floor.
Avatar m tn The tires where easy but i found a easier way to install large tires by using my dang knee. my right knee is messed up because of it. for weeks installing tires with it is very easy i began having pains. felt like i was limping at some point. i couldn't file any within that company because i didn't use any knee pads and they where laying off me so i couldn't complain . three months i quit the job then the pain felt very bad.
Avatar f tn Unfortunately there are way too many things that can cause knee and hip pains - as we point out, age is one of those even though Ojibajo, 35 is not yet old :-) But these joints are definitely affects by age, prior use, and other disease processes. Each 10 pounds of extra weight we carry equals about 40 pounds on our knees. I'm sure there is a similar correlation to hip problems as well.
182884 tn?1259316506 it looked so weird...joints can pop in and out of the socket and cause alot of pain...when asked it this happened again I said weeks later, I remember how my shoulder hurts in the AM and while lying in bed feeling a crunch which could be the shoulder popping in and out on it's own....I was not aware!! I did post info in the Health Pages in the chiari forums Hp's.....
192055 tn?1263559137 When I was 19, after basic training and AIT, I started having a lot of neck, shoulder, and upper back pain. I went to the doctor again... turns out the pain was coming from my collarbone- everytime it dislocated, it was irritating my muscles and nerves. I found an amazing heart surgeon that was willing to do my surgery- no if's and's or but's about it! When he first cut me open, the doc found the muscle just floating around (The muscle that held my joint together.
230262 tn?1316649534 Your shoulder symptoms could be caused from so many different conditions that my response is merely a guess. When I had a rotator cuff tear lifting my arm upward or doing a sweeping motion caused extreme pain. It didn't feel like it was falling out of my socket. The shoulder was always "sore." The only was to know what may be going on with your shoulder is to have some imaging done. It does seems strange that both began hurting at the same time. This not not sound like an injury.
Avatar f tn I have been experiencing hip pain for a couple of months now and it felt like it was my joint going out of the socket and back in like you said. However, it only happens if I do certain things. If I am going to stand up and lean to far to the left, if I bend down from a standing position and reach to the left I get this pain. It usually hurts for several hours and sometimes into the next day.
279234 tn?1363108849 Sorry I didn't get back here sooner (not that I would have had an answer). The area you describe is the exact location of the ball and socket joint of the hip. I asked because people tend to identify several different areas as the hip. It's pretty sad to get a statement of your problem from the doc but no direction about how to relieve the pain. I'm glad you finally got a script and hope it kicks in soon. I've found that I sometimes need heat to loosen the grip of a spasm.
Avatar f tn Well need to pick up house and get ready for work soon. that will help get me out of this awfull mood I am in. until i come home in pain at the end of the nite. take care. i am the the little engine that could, and i will keep going, but somedays just s....
Avatar n tn I have been having symptoms of dizziness, head pain, shakiness and a spaced out kind of foggy feeling like i am watching my life from the outside - all day every day. There are some times for a couple of hours during the day that the symptoms may lift and give me a few moments to live- but not much. I have been to about 30 doctors- including ENT's allergists, neurologists, chiropracters, opthamologists. psychologists, dentists and everything else u can think of.
Avatar m tn My knee cap produces a cracking sound as if its out of socket. these pain don’t last for more than 2 minutes, also i feel numbness on one side of my back. like i said it all started on the 4th of September and i went for test on the 6th of September and was tested negative on HIV rapid blood test but still very worried since they said muscle and joint pain is one of the major symptoms of early HIV. the other symptoms i am having is blurry vision and unable to maintain my balance.
Avatar n tn The most common cause of popping joints is joint friction. when two pieces of bone in a joint, such as a ball and socket, rub against one another as you move. Sometimes it is also cartilage rubbing on bone. According to yoga instructor Paul Grilley, writing for Yoga Journal, joint friction is usually no cause for concern. You might not want to go out of your way to do it, but in the normal course of life it is harmless.
Avatar m tn I can get out of bed and walk around for a few minutes the pain goes away then I go back to sleep again. When I was a child in grade school my legs hurt me setting at my class room desk I would bounce my legs up/down all day on my toes to keep my legs from hurting. Several people on my mothers side of the family have legs pain when they sleep.
Avatar f tn 12 years ago I had an MVI where the head of my femur was pushed out of the joint (left side). I was driving a stick shift and on impact, I was pushing the clutch in, the force caused the head of my femur to be dislocated. At the ER they had to sedate me so that they could hyperextend my leg to get it to "pop" back into the socket. Recently, I have experienced severe pain in the joint and it seems to run down the outside of my thigh to my knee.
Avatar n tn The pain I believe due to my hip injury goes from around the socket, into the groin area, and down the outside of my leg into my knee and continues down the outside of my calf. I have a lot of pain sitting, walking, and climbing stairs. Usually laying down gives me relief but often I cannot get relief. I have been prescribed 1/2 of 5mg Loritab at bedtime for the pain but it does not give me relief.
Avatar m tn Welcome...Sounds like "Luxating Patellas" to me.....Very common in small dogs...What happens is the knee caps floats in and out of socket....When it's "Out", it's very painful--When it's "In", it's fine.....Dogs normally can kick their leg around and pop it back into place after it pops out.....A human can do it, too... There are different grades of Patella Luxation--- I believe it's 1 (Being the least) through 4 (Being the worse)....
Avatar f tn Perhaps because of the construction of his hip joint it's possible for it to go in and out frequently, which is KIND of good because if it went out and stayed out he would absolutely have to have surgery to survive. In either the luxating patella or hip dysplasia, the ultimate outcome will be surgery, however since he is so small, it isn't as critical that he be operated on as immediately as it would be if he were a large dog.
Avatar n tn Hi John, Hoping you can lend some expertise...9 years ago I injured my left hip dancing (ballet.) Back then, I had x-rays done that did not show any damage to my bones so physical therapy was ordered. I completed six weeks of physical therapy but continued to have severe pain in my entire hip area all the way down to my knee. I also continued dancing, so I figured the pain was continuing because of that.
Avatar m tn If no answers come about, I would still have a dentist look at it, in case the joint has popped out of the socket. I had weak muscles for over a year and a half thinking I may have MS. But to my provail, my jaw had popped out of alignment. When one muscle is affected it could knock everything out. My legs were in agony, even though it was my jaw with the problem. And I had no pain with my jaw. Work that out? Good luck.
