Avatar m tn Hi, I have pain in the tibia of my left leg, which I think is below the knee cap. The pain started when I was 18, after I got an injury during a basketball game. Now I'm 20 and I still feel the pain only when I engage in physical activity. What's wrong with me. Could these by osgood schlatters disease?
Avatar f tn I had osgood-schlatter in my right knee. I have had it since I was in 6th grade. I played a lot of sports so I'm sure it was associated with that. I'm sure it is possible though even if you don't play sports. Right below the knee cap I have a knot that is about the size of a walnut. It has always caused some discomfort but I have never really felt anything in the shin area. I was even able to be in the Marine Corps.
Avatar m tn Osgood-Schlatter Disease - Behind the knee? My daughter (13) has major behind the knee/lower hammy pain when in goalie butterfly, deep squat? Physiotherapist said Osgood-Schlatter Disease... no website i can find says you get that behind the knee.. So...Thoughts? (Physio would have known if it was anything obvious?
Avatar f tn hi Thanks i will try all that stuff as it is really sore, The reason im worried is because there has never been any injury to the knee its just appeared, My Gp said my x ray is baffling as it is showing things that would appear in an elderly persons x ray not a girl in her early twenties.
Avatar m tn m down to 14) i also have some tendinitis in my left knee. After four hours of sports my knee swells and stiffens and is no longer mobile until i sleep it off. In the past year i have discovered a big bump on top of my right knee so much so that when i bend both knees it is very noticeable protruding from the front of my knee.
Avatar m tn It has been 6 years since I got my bone spurs and 5 years since I tore my ACL and meniscus. By continuing t0 skate you are risking a greater injury in your knee.
Avatar m tn I have been having knee pain for about 1 and a half months now and the doctor's said it's nothing with my bones. I still haven't had an MRI yet and my football coach thinks it's one of three things: Osgood-Schlatter's disease my growth plate is fractured. I forget the third one though. Right under my knee cap hurts when I do too much exercise. It almost feels like there is also a pressure in my knee. Can anybody tell me what they think is going on and if my coach is right?
Avatar f tn But the pediatrician said that Osgood Schlatter is more involved near the ligament below the knee that connects to the libia and that my son's was a bony growth on his bone just below this area. His symptoms are pain with actitivies, pain at night, and sometimes he limps. It is slightly swollen around the growth but is not hot to touch and he says that it does not hurt when pressure is applied and that is a general dull ache in the area but not directly on the bump.
203342 tn?1328737207 Hello, Three possibilities are there.First and foremost is chondromalacia patellae. This is a softening of the cartilage that lines the back of the kneecap.Diagnopsed by physical examination and MRI knee.Blood tests and x-rays are unhelpful since cartilage does not show up on x-rays. Other possibilities are of tibial apophysitis, or Osgood-Schlatter lesion and Jumper's knee (irritation and inflammation of the patellar tendon). Without clinical examination, diagnosis is tough.
Avatar f tn He was complaining of leg pain around the knee for a few days I thought he was pulling my leg after a day of school took him for an X-ray where they found he has osgood shlatters was reassured it was very common in sporty children and he will grow out of it was referred to the leads fracture clinic for a routine check up where the doctor said he has 2 things shown up on xray 1-osgood shlatters 2- a shadow in his feumer which he thinks is Benin (the word think is what worries me for he mentioned
3201003 tn?1345349318 my 6 yr old cries every night with knee pain but the knee dr and regular dr says she is ok she has been hurting since she was able to walk about 10 months old i dont know wat to do can you help me please
Avatar m tn Hi there! Well, without an evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the knee pain. Possibilities that may need to be considered include patellar dislocation, chondromalacia patellae, infections/ inflammations, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, cyst formation, iliotibial band syndrome, osgood schlatter disease, bone growths/ tumours, nerve impingement/ compression, fractures, injuries to the internal knee ligaments/ menisci etc; just to name a few.
Avatar m tn 30, with my gf and my knee got super tight and after another step a SHARP pain shot through it and I nearly fell. We had only gone about 4 miles and had warmed up properly and stretched, the weather was warm so I wasn't cold or tight when it happened. I have seen my medical department and they suspected ITB or Meniscus problems. However after about 2 months of aggressive icing, stretching, and physical therapy I can now run LESS and less before the pain comes back.
Avatar m tn Hello! I'm 14 and I've been having knee pain for 2 years. One doctor told me it's growing pains but I don't really believe it, becuase I don't grow much anymore. The second doctor told me it's because I don't have enough synovial fluid in my knee joints and he offered me injections. I don't know what to do. What if there's something else that causes this pain? I've also got knock knees. Can this be the problem? Please help me!
Avatar m tn my brother 26 yrs old is suffering from both knee joint pain since two years.he has consulted orthopeditian and rheumatologist, what they said is everything is normal(non specific arthritis).even his blood parameters and xray are normal.but he cant stand more than two hours or cant walk even one kilometer.can you suggest the probable diagnosis.
Avatar n tn My 5 years old daughter has severe pain(cramp like) behind the knee for 4-6 seconds, then relieve for 3 secs & then repeat the same scenario few times. All this will be over within about 2mins the most. What I did is to lie her down & push her toes toward her body with her leg flat on the couch. Just like how I do if there is leg cramps. At the same time, I'll put some camphor oil around the knee area & gently rub to keep warm.
Avatar f tn I have had the bump on my knee since I was an adolescent. I've been wanting the bump gone as well I do light yoga my bump touches the ground where it shouldn't and it's bothersome. Is it possible to have it surgically removed?
Avatar m tn I have knee pain in my right knee when I kneel down on it.About a year ago the same knee for some reason unknown to me got very swollen & had to use crutches for about a week. Anyway when I kneel down it is like kneeling on a tack. Then it has a sensation of a rug burn to the touch. After about five times of this happening I looked more closely. On the right lower outer edge of knee cap it gets a swell pocket. It does not swell up the entire knee just this oval like shaped pocket.
Avatar f tn He has had pain in both his knees for a few weeks now. The pain has gradually got worse, and he says it is under his knee cap and when pressing the back of his leg in the knee area, it is very painful. He has seen the GP but he has just given him ibuprofen, and told us to keep an eye on him! The other day he could not walk because of the pain and I am very worried about what this could be? The pain is constant, and the ibuprofen is just masking this a little. Can anyone advise? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I was an athlete (tennis, basketball, softball (catcher), long jump/track) and always had knee problems- doc diagnosed chondomalacia and osgood schlatters (talk about spelling) when I was in junior high. The next morning, I went to the doctor who thought it might be a meniscus tear, but come to find out about two and a half weeks later, the xrays and MRIs would come back all clear. (I have the MRI results in detail here, but I do not have the xray results other than hear-say.
545408 tn?1219873125 My son wakes up at night with his knee hurting. I have notices sometimes it is with the weather changes. But it looks kind of funny. Several trips to the dr and x-rays twice and blood work to see if anything is wrong. They did not find anything. It is off and on, only at night usually. His knees kind of look enlarged..swollen I am not sure. I do not think it is just growing pains. I need help too...I am going Friday to see if we can go to a specialist. I want to make sure it is nothing serious!
Avatar m tn My son has pain in his knees and feet, and the knees are Osgood-Schlaters, which requires that if he is having pain, he must stop what he is doing. The result of not stopping results in bone changes to the knee.
Avatar f tn I twisted my knee and when it happen I heard and felt a pop on the inside of my knee. Also, now when I walk, I have pain and crackling on the outside, under the knee. When I am walking and I have to turn or piviot, I get a pain that runs the inside of my knee. And now I can just be standing there and my knee feels like it is really loose and feels like I hyperextended in, the knee pushes back. How ling should I wait to go to the doctor or should I continue to try and heal it myself.
Avatar n tn Hi! I'm sorry to hear about your knee. It sounds to me like either a ligament or possibly cartilage. Does it feel unstable or is it still giving out on you? Does it ache after sitting for long amounts of time? Is your pain off to the side of the knee or under your knee cap? These answers may help me know better.
Avatar f tn You need to know I have arthritis in both knees and no cartilage left under knee caps. My knee instantly was hurting but mostly when trying to walk normal. I can walk stiff legged and it doesn't hurt too bad but flex the knee and it has sharp pain like i have walking up and down stairs because of the knee caps. I sit in a normal position but lifting foot causing lots of pain around knee cap. I'm guessing I probably pulled something. Have put ice on it and taken ibu.
1587585 tn?1309432260 If you hurt your knee doing side lunges, this may be a meniscal injury or to the MCL. Pain in the back of the knee may be local inflammation, or swelling. Continue the NSAID's, rest, and ice; if the pain persists, see an orthopedist.
