knee

Avatar n tn I get a burning pain in my upper calf neer the back of my knee. Is there any reason it took so long to bruise and should Is it possible I tore a tendon?
Avatar m tn This condition is called meralgia paraesthetica which manifests itself as pain, tingling or burning sensation of outer thigh. It may occur due to injury to nerve either due to spinal deformity or along its path to thigh by any ligament or tendon stretch, excessive tight clothing (therefore it is also called "jeans disease"), diabetic neuropathy or damage to nerve after surgery etc. Another nerve which may cause pain in legs is sciatic nerve compression.
Avatar f tn Popping or clicking with pain can happen due to anterior cruciate ligament injury (ACL) or discoid lateral meniscus. The ACL injury is a problem because this instability can make sudden, pivoting movements difficult, and it may make the knee more prone to developing arthritis and cartigae tears. Symptoms which you have mentioned do not seem to be significant and can be considered as normal.

Avatar n tn I can sit for about 5 or 10 min and when I get up I feel like I am going to fall. When I lay in bed it aches. Its just the back of my right knee and I can feel that it is swollen. Can anyone help me with this pain. I have tried icy hot cream and bengay hot towels.
Avatar f tn I should differentiate between a knee INJURY, involving a blow to the knee and a RUGBURN, which is due to a scrape. Generally, if you fall on a knee or twist an ankle the drill is cold packs and wrap with circumferential ACE bandages immediately, before swelling takes place.
Avatar n tn You might have had some ligament tears due to the fall and subsequent injury so these symptoms. Get an MRI done and also rule out any bony damage by an X-ray. Only after a proper diagnosis you can consider the right kind of treatment, you should go ahead to an orthopedician as it is already 15 days from the accident. Apply ice packs, take pain killers and rest till properly diagnosed. Take care!
Avatar f tn Three weeks ago I had a terrible fall. Landed prone on my left knee and left hand. Swelling began immediately and the pain was intense. I made it home spent the evening taking NSAIDs and icing. It was no better in the morning thus I went to er. X-rays showed no bone involvement and although my knee was huge showed only a small effusion. Fast forward two weeks..regularly taking antiinflammatories and taking it easy. The horrendous bruising began to subside as did the edema.
Avatar n tn Fell hard on left knee. It became bruised in color and pain, numbness, warm feeling, and burning got worse and worse. The injured area is at the very top of the knee leaving like a crease at the top and across from side to side. It was not in the meniscus area (as I know where that pain radiates since I toreit several years ago and had sursery on it). This does not feel like what I'm I felt previously.
Avatar m tn If your knee is locked it would be manipulated under anesthesia till the knee relaxes and then the torn menisci will fall into its place and the knee is unlocked. The knee is immobilized in compression bandage for 2-3 weeks and this is followed by physiotherapy. If you orthopedician wants to excise the torn menisci microscopically you can go for arthroscopic surgery. You should visit an orthopedician to go for the best course of treatment: conservative or surgical. Take care!
Avatar f tn Swelling is still there and according to doctor it is due to raw space created when blood was taken to check fat level after 1 week of injury. It is my personal opinion that may be due to swelling on upper part of knee am not able to bend knee completely. Doc. has also advised that this swelling will go when at raw space blood start flowing swiftly and this will happen with pace of time. I can perform exercise without pain to the level knee bends.
5245618 tn?1365687749 Pain in the front portion of the knee can be caused by bursitis (inflammation of the lining of the joint, possible due to injury while playing), arthritis, or injury to the patella cartilage (front portion of the knee). Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. Pain in the back of the knee can be caused by arthritis or Bakers cysts (cystic accumulation of synovial fluid, also causes a swelling).
Avatar f tn A little background.... I'm a 46yo fem skier symptoms of joint line pain and stiffness in the right knee. No locking or serious instability although the knee has given a couple of times. 18years prior I had a broken tibial plateau that required bone graft (freeze dried cadaver bone) with 2 screws and meniscus repair on the lateral side. Screws were taken out and the plateau had to be reshaped on both the lateral and medial sides to due excess bone growth from the repair.
Avatar f tn My question is can the cartilage and the knee cap be from that one injury? I never had problems with my knee prior! Workers Comp is saying that it is a genetic defect and I was born with this.
1587585 tn?1309432260 If you hurt your knee doing side lunges, this may be a meniscal injury or to the MCL. Pain in the back of the knee may be local inflammation, or swelling. Continue the NSAID's, rest, and ice; if the pain persists, see an orthopedist.
Avatar m tn t see any swelling since that day but my right knees is still paining. Please tell me what to do is that i am having any injury. If there is any injury than how to know it. Please suggest me what ever you feel right. I am really waiting for your reply . I really be thankful to who ever gives me the right suggestions. Thanks in advance.
Avatar n tn Well it is treatable and if you injured some peripheral nevers due to injury it takes some regeneration time. Do not worry and your Physician will diagnose this after an examination.
