Common Questions and Answers about Knee injury clicking

Avatar n tn The pain was really bad, both the front and back of the knee. I never experienced clicking/popping in that knee prior. But suddenly it was happening all the time. As the pain subsided the clicking/popping got worse. It has been a couple months, the clicking/popping still very much there. I tried working out again for the first time in months last Wednesday, and felt nothing during the workout or afterwards.
Avatar n tn Hello all. I was playing football Sunday and although I didn't experience any injury while playing, I felt tightness later that night. I always stretch before and after. The next morning when I woke up I noticed some clicking behind my knee right above my calf. It's right in the center. Now a few days later, I'm feeling a lot of calf numbness and tingling. It's been tough falling asleep because of this. I've had previous problems with this leg before...
Avatar f tn I have this clicking or may I say popping sound when ever I put weight of my left knee, or even if I am laying in bed when I straighten out my leg, it seems to make this sound. It really doesn't hurt, just a little uncomfortable. If I place my hand on my knee and swing my leg forward a bit, I can actually feel the bones rubbing and clicking against each other.
1587585 tn?1309432260 If you hurt your knee doing side lunges, this may be a meniscal injury or to the MCL. Pain in the back of the knee may be local inflammation, or swelling. Continue the NSAID's, rest, and ice; if the pain persists, see an orthopedist.
Avatar m tn Orthopaedic surgeon did McMurray test - was not sure at first whether he heard the clicking sound in my right knee. He did this again and said "yes, i can hear the clicking sound" I did not hear the sound. 2. Bit of discomfort when I start running - Once warmed up it goes away I then saw a biokeniticist. Also recommended knee procedure. They also gave me strenthening exercises, which I am still doing. Run twice a week and some runs are better than others.
Avatar n tn Also, I just walked through the building here and after it loosened up enough, I noticed a lot of movement - clicking around. Not audible, but definitely happening in the upper knee behind the patella.
Avatar n tn oops I see that you said thumb now! Silly me I kept thinking knee! Either way it could be arthritis or purhaphs a old sports injury?
Avatar m tn A piece of torn cartilage may get caught between moving parts of the knee joint and causes the sound. A clicking sound may be heard when moving the knee. The pain may be worse when squatting. I hope this helps.
Avatar n tn I had arthroscopic surgery on my left knee almost 3 months ago. The medial and lateral meniscus were repaired along with scraping under patella for some arthritis. The medial was much more damaged than the lateral. Surgery seemed to go well. No pain at all. After some weeks with therapy the knee still feels unstable laterally. Front to back movement was very good, Pain developed on medial side of knee and the patella tendon when walking.
Avatar m tn upon leaving they gave me a foam knee brace and sent me on my way. When I got home and tried on the knee brace I found out it was way to large (XXL) to the point of it being almost comical (I'm 130 lbs., maybe if I was a NFL running back it would fit.
Avatar f tn HISTORY: Fell on a mountain skiing in March — immediate pain not too much swelling. After a couple of weeks went in for what I thought was a sprain from it. MRI showed microfracture of the femoral condyle, grade 2 meniscal tear among some other small things. I was put in a brace. Came back in two weeks, doc put me on crutches for 7 weeks. Started PT in May — made great improvement, but still limping and having pain.

Avatar m tn Hello! I'm an almost 57yo active male and just recently a small (silver dollar size) lump or protrusion, bony in appearance, has developed along the outside of my right leg located approximately 1" to 1-1/2" below the midline of my kneecap. In addition, I began to experience some "popping or clicking" sounds in this knee starting in my early 30's which have come and gone over the years without any noticeable pain or swelling.
Avatar n tn Go for a simple X-ray to find out about your chest bones ribs, sternum, clavicle and other bones. Sometimes it occurs due to some injury and also due to abnormal sleep position. If you have perfect X-rays and no infection there is no cause to worry. Take care!
Avatar n tn s on the front side of my lower leg, slightly to the right, directly between the knee and the ankle. It will crack pretty loudly simply from me tensing the muscles in my leg and pushing downward (like when I get up after sitting). What in the world is this? There's no joint there so I don't know what's making that noise.
Avatar f tn I just found out when I bend my knee in there is a small clicking sound. There is no pain but I can feel the click vibrating in the knee area. Should I be concerned?
Avatar m tn My Daughter 13y/o, weight 45kg, has right knee pain isolated to the lower outside area of the knee. This pain is preventing the use of the knee and is sever when the knee is bent. She has limited movement with out pain. Currently we are into the 9th week of pain. Other symptoms are numbness of the knee area, Limited swelling (not much) and currently in the last week she has started to get sharp stadding pain, ocassionally the knee gives way.. The injury happened during a jazz dancing fall.
Avatar n tn It could be carpal tunnel syndrome, but I don't know for sure. From the popping/clicking it sounds like it could be a ligament injury. You also could have dislocated your wrist. It may not help but try an ice pack for a bit and see if it helps at all. Obviously it'd be a good idea to see a doctor as well.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Osteochondritis Dissecans in my right knee with a focal cartilaginous defect within the posterior weightbearing 3rd of the lateral femoral condyle. The lesion is 1.7cm in anterior -posterior dimension x 0.7cm in transverse dimension.

16237877 tn?1446544835 I love doing squats but, for about a year and half, i have not been able to perform this exercise because my left knee hurts. Each time I try to squat, there's a clicking sound in my left knee and, it hurts bad. As a result, even when I try, my right leg carries all the weight and, i don't feel the impact of the exercise on my quads. What can i do to remedy this situation or, how can i train my quads without squats?
Avatar m tn The tendon would cause inflammation to surrounding tissue. Also, had an MRI on left knee, found a cyst/tear along the inner knee ligament.
Avatar n tn If its recent, then ti was probably some minor injury, possibly one too small to notice or even think twice about, which inflamed slightly. Thats usually what it is. should go away shortly.
