Avatar n tn Still, no issues during those activities. However, last weekend I noticed my left knee started clicking when I walked. I could hear it inside and first thought it was my back or hip. Finally found it was my knee. I can make it click by extending and contracting it. Walking normally does it every time. Going up and down steps does not (since it's a different range of motion). 7148253 tn?1388534921 Now I would notice that the symptoms are getting worse my knee is unstable like it is giving way every time I walk, there is pain on the outter/inner and back of my knee, I would hear a crunching/clicking/popping noise, I can feel a pop/snap/clicking, my knee is burning and I m limping everyday. I have went to a doctor he didn't said anything much except for giving me anti inflammatory and I have been to a physio for a month and got given a knee support.
Avatar f tn a year and 1/2 ago I fell down some stairs and landed on cement causing a left knee injury, after a few weeks of physical therapy the swelling and general soreness was better but I had a burning feeling under my knee cap, clicking and grinding, the Dr told me it was normal.
Avatar m tn The various causes of knee locking are torn medial meniscus, mis-aligned knee cap, osteoarthritis, knee arthritis, torn lateral meniscus, osteochondritis dissecans, recurrent patella dislocation - may cause knee locking or knee collapse, chondromalacia patella - occasional locking or knee collapse, knee alignment problem, knee fragment or knee cartilage disorder.
Avatar f tn Whenever I walk up stairs my left knee makes a clicking noise and if I touch and feel my knee it feels like a grinding sensation inside my knee. I've been icing my knee after each game and the next few days following. It is uncomfortable to walk on it at times but not necessarily painful or impossible. I have started going to the gym again.
1587585 tn?1309435860 If you hurt your knee doing side lunges, this may be a meniscal injury or to the MCL. Pain in the back of the knee may be local inflammation, or swelling. Continue the NSAID's, rest, and ice; if the pain persists, see an orthopedist.
Avatar f tn I have this clicking or may I say popping sound when ever I put weight of my left knee, or even if I am laying in bed when I straighten out my leg, it seems to make this sound. It really doesn't hurt, just a little uncomfortable. If I place my hand on my knee and swing my leg forward a bit, I can actually feel the bones rubbing and clicking against each other.
Avatar n tn Hi all, I came upon this forum and got similar symptoms too- leg clicking whenever i bend my knee back n forth and feel the rupture of the bone goin on inside that gives off discomfort. Also whenever i exercise, like running, swimming the right knee gets more sore than the other as well. The doc says its a acl tear but the mri scan shows it to be fine, suspect its loose ligaments and previous falls i had to have weak knee.
Avatar n tn hi red-alert, yes you need further investigations and if this problem is not managed at proper time, you might end up in unrepairable damaged knee. You might be having meniscus damage and / or knee arthritis. Take your knee X-ray and upload them on this website, so that i can comment on it.
Avatar n tn Hi, Congratulation's that you are pregnant again. Keep yourself relaxed and enjoy our pregnancy. When any patient complains of “knee pain,” the initial differential diagnosis in most of the cases includes: Osteoarthritis, Ligament damage, Meniscus damage or Patello-femoral disorder. I think what you are having is either a ligament injury or a Patello-femoral disorder. When did your pain begin, what were you doing at the time, and what were the initial symptoms?
Avatar m tn upon leaving they gave me a foam knee brace and sent me on my way. When I got home and tried on the knee brace I found out it was way to large (XXL) to the point of it being almost comical (I'm 130 lbs., maybe if I was a NFL running back it would fit.
Avatar n tn Go for a simple X-ray to find out about your chest bones ribs, sternum, clavicle and other bones. Sometimes it occurs due to some injury and also due to abnormal sleep position. If you have perfect X-rays and no infection there is no cause to worry. Take care!
Avatar n tn I'm 16, and about a month ago, I went from standing to sprinting very suddenly and felt a pop in my left knee. Immediately afterward, my knee felt somewhat weaker than my right one. In the days and after, I began to experience some pain. A week or closer to two later, I went to the doctor, who told me to wear a brace and ice it and come back in a week. I still played soccer, but I told my coach what was wrong and he told me to keep playing even though I was in pain.
Avatar n tn It could be carpal tunnel syndrome, but I don't know for sure. From the popping/clicking it sounds like it could be a ligament injury. You also could have dislocated your wrist. It may not help but try an ice pack for a bit and see if it helps at all. Obviously it'd be a good idea to see a doctor as well.
Avatar n tn hi - i'm a 22yr old female and i just wondered if anyone out there has any idea to why i get (which i can only describe as..) clicking noises when i take a deep breath. It doesnt happen all the time, but when it does its very uncomfortable - i've had it now for about 7yrs, and it has got worse as i've aged.
Avatar f tn I fell a few weeks ago onto my knee (full weight) the knee swelled and went very black and blue. I was told by the Hospital that i have just got a sprain. However the knee is now clicking/grinding and i am finding it hard to walk far. I am also getting a sharp pain every so often up my leg. I had an operation over 10 years ago for a lateral release on the same knee. I just want to know what this could be as it just keep getting worse.
Avatar m tn Hi there! Clicking sensation around the knee can be caused due to loose bodies, patellar displacement, meniscal tears, ligamental injury, degenerative arthritis etc. Without a physical examination it would be difficult to point out a single cause; though if there are no other symptoms or discomfort it is unlikely to be anything serious. However, it is still advised to get this evaluated by an orthopedician to rule out possible secondary causes.
Avatar m tn However, I know I didn't give the cortizone shot enough time yet, but the inflammation is absent from the shot, but I can still feel the pain come and go, and I know it takes 3-5 days for the shot to fully work, but he stated that my activity is limited to what my knee can handle. Wouldn't this define a permanent injury?
Avatar n tn Pain and swelling and clicking in right knee for more than a year. PT no help. In Feb 2012, twisted bad knee and tore menicus through and through.
Avatar n tn I would usually just stay off of it and it should get better but that hasn't happened. It is a clicking in my right knee pit and it gets sore with continued use. It would be great if somebody could tell me what the problem is and what I need to do about it. I've looked at diagrams of the rear portion of a knee but there are so many pieces back there I don't know where to start. Oh yeah, it really only bothers me when I'm walking and swimming. If I'm running or jumping it never clicks.
Avatar f tn I thought that I fell directly down on the knee, I have a 'goose egg' that feels like a knot and is very tender with red dots and a light greenish bruise on the side, left, lower portion of my knee, away from the kneecap. There is some pain and aching when I am not using, I can fully bend and straighten the knee. I have some pain when walking so I have a slight limp and it is more comfortable to lean on the right side of my foot while walking.
Avatar f tn Hi! Generally sudden onset knee swelling is due to injury to menisci or due to inflammation of the bursa or a soft cushion on the joint. Initially there may be no pain. However, you must not strain the knee by exercising. Ideally you should see a doctor, but since you do not have insurance try this: Give the leg complete rest. Apply ice pack 2-3 times a day for 15-20 minutes. Take an over the counter anti-inflammatory. Use leg for only daily activities for a week or two.
Avatar n tn The next morning when I woke up I noticed some clicking behind my knee right above my calf. It's right in the center. Now a few days later, I'm feeling a lot of calf numbness and tingling. It's been tough falling asleep because of this. I've had previous problems with this leg before...groin strain and also a bad hamstring strain with bruising that was right below the bend of my knee. The hamstring injury also tingled after a couple days but not as bad.
1521115 tn?1305271162 I've had it all my life as did my father, mostly without pain. Now that my knee is bad the clicking is unchanged but it hurts more often and "grinds" according to my Orthro Surgeon. I hope you'll be able to obtain some pain relief and meet your goals. Avatar f tn My knee is stiff and painful today underneath the knee cap where the pes anserine tendon inserts and to the inside of the knee cap (medially). I also have pain in the middle of the back of the knee, is especially sharp if I push into it. In terms of comfort and daily activities, I am having no trouble walking except that my knee will get a little swollen (very slight) and stiff if I walk a lot.
