Does anyone have any suggestions in Michigan or should I go to Mayo? I read that someone in Michigan went to someone in Grand Rapids and the doctor required the patient to commit to treatment with him before he would do a liver biospy....thats not acceptable to me...what if you do not like this doctor or the staff?
Avatar f tn The diagnosis of HP rather than UIP was determined by a team of patholigist and pulmonary specialist at the University of Michigan. My primary pulmonary doctor dismissed their diagnosis and said he felt I had UIP. My primary pulmonary doctor has been out of college about 3 years and was trained by the doctors who evaluated my case and he referred me to them, but refuses to accept their diagnosis.

The alternatives: Free weight squats, split squats, and lunges—performed with perfect form—are all better choices for working your quads and protecting your knees.
Avatar n tn Dear Dr., My question may or may not belong here but it was my only option and perhaps you can help. I'm a 34 year old female w/ a dual chamber pacemaker due to sinus node dysfunction (implanted 11/07) and have been suffering from refractory hypertension despite seeing a Hypertension Specialist at the University of Michigan. I've had the entire work up for secondary hypertension and nothing has been found thus far.
Avatar m tn Surgery was performed and I had a rod inserted just below the knee to the shin. I just had my three month follow up examination and the fracture still hasn't healed. I've been diligent with my physical therapy and I have full flexibility in the leg. I can bend the leg at the knee and I can fully extend it. I can put weight on the leg and the doctor no longer requires me to wear the surgical boot. I still need to use a cane or crutches to get around.
Avatar n tn Stretching the front and back or your leg to increase the flexibility in your knee. Perform stretching exercises at the end of your workout when your muscles are warm. Stretch the front of your leg in a standing position by bending your knee and raising your foot up toward your backside. Grasp the ankle with your hand to enhance the stretch. Stretch the back of your legs in a seated position with your legs extended on the floor. Fold forward over your straight legs to stretch your hamstrings.

It's often painful, and since it can occur while climbing stairs, sitting on the ground, or being in some other vulnerable position, it can be quite frightening. Usually, the locking is caused by a torn piece of cartilage, or possibly a loose bone fragment resulting from a bone disorder called osteochondritis dissecans.

Avatar f tn Both are recommended by the Arthritis Foundation as effective range-of-motion exercises, and both focus on slow, controlled movements. Yoga postures have variations to accommodate injuries or varying skill levels, and tai chi has been shown to reduce pain and impairment in people with knee problems. It is important to learn from a professional though, as injury can result from improper form.

Avatar f tn I too have patella femoral pain. I had a lot of physical therapy and most of the exercises made the pain worse. I now get my best and longest relief from my chiropractor. (Yes he treats my knee) Do you have chiropractors in Italy if so, see if you can find one that can treat knees.
Avatar m tn I had swelling on and off for months, and the knee still swells a bit sometimes, but I had full ROM and use of the knee within weeks of the surgery (before I could barely walk and could not put any weight on my knee, like kneeling on a car seat to reach something).
Avatar f tn I just had another type of MRI and another appointment with a neurosurgeon at University of Michigan. It sounds like I am going to get somewhere. I advise you to go to a neurosurgeon and get a MRI of the Brain and Spine to rule out these things. Also, go the Chiari Forum and search more about Chiari.
