Common Questions and Answers about Knee exercises ligament injuries

Avatar m tn Hi there. You need to consult the orthopaedician again since tissue injury would have subsided with this much of time and supportive care. It appears to be a ligament or menisceal tear and needs to be checked up properly clinically and with an MRI. Anterior cruciate ligament tears and medial menisceal injuries would require surgical management, arthroscopy and ACL reconstruction and menisectomy respectively. Hope this helps. Take care.

Tylenol/ OTC NSAIDS may be helpful for pain relief. If the symptoms continue, I would suggest a review with your orthopedician. Hope this is helpful. Take care!

Avatar n tn A tear in the ACL or a lax ACL leads to small tears in the posterior horns of the menisci. Do you have any previous knee injuries, especially the cruciate ligament tears? http://www.easyfizzy.co.il/image/users/46789/ftp/my_files/meniscal.gif This figure shows types of a tear in the meniscus. If there was no previous injury, yur small tears in the menisci could be degenerative.

Avatar n tn Top NYC Orthopedic Surgeon felt loose peroneal nerve in knee. Doctor has never heard of this condition and has referred me to Giants top knee doc. Had MRI, showed thinning of posterior ligament. Should mention the the injury is most likely sports related. I am collegiate wrestler. Has anyone ever heard of a LOOSE PERONEAL NERVE?
Avatar n tn Hello, Arthroscopic surgery or open surgery may be performed for anterior cruciate ligament injuries. Surgery involves reconstruction of the damaged ligament using a strip of tendon from the patient's knee (patellar tendon) or hamstring muscle(autografts). In some cases, allograft, xenograft and artificial ligaments may be used. It is followed by an exercise and rehabilitation program to strengthen the muscles and restore full joint mobility Hope it helps.
Avatar n tn The report describes a partial tear in one of the ligaments of the knee joint (ACL), with minor injuries in others. Hope this information helps. Take care!
Avatar m tn Now about a month back i had fallen while snowboarding and it bent my knee inwards the pain at the time wasnt too bad but its worsening and also is making my ankle hurt more. Im only 21 years old 140 lbs any type of reason for the constant ankle pain would be appreciated.
Avatar f tn Possibilities that may need to be considered include fractures, dislocations, injuries to internal knee structures, injuries to tendons/ ligaments, inflammation etc. I would suggest getting this evaluated by a primary care physician or an orthopedician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Meanwhile I would suggest resting the knee and avoid weight bearing. Ice-packs and tylenol may be helpful for pain relief. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar m tn Pain on either sides of the knee is usually related to meniscal tears, injuries to the collateral ligaments, and even to arthritis. Ligament injury causes pain to worsen on walking, bending and stretching the knee. Meniscii too if torn or injured cause pain worsening on walking and result in joint instability—that is you are not confident the knee joint will take your weight. Often the person feels a popping sensation on moving the joint.
Avatar m tn and was given a few strecthes and leg strengthening exercises to help with my knee problems. Well, after a solid two weeks of performing these exercises, my knee feels strong and well. But whenever i have to stretch and put my left knee into my buttox the entire knee feels an incredible amount of pain. Also, whenever I try and sit on my ankles, I am in HUGE amounts of pain just in the left knee.
Avatar f tn The pain is below the knee cap on the left and right side and ontop of the knee cap on the right side and on the inside of the knee from above the knee to below the knee. For the last week and a half I've been getting sharp pains on the right inside of the knee and above the knee while walking or turning from right to left. When this happens the pain is so bad that I can hardly walk. I've also been getting needle type pain below the knee cap in the center.
Avatar f tn Since your blood tests are normal and so is probably X-ray, you need to get a MRI of knee joint to look for ligament or meniscal tears and injuries, patella displacement etc. It may also be a pinched nerve or a muscle injury. So and EMG/NCV may help in diagnosis. Please discuss these aspects with your doctor. Also, find out if physiotherapy will help relieve the pain. Take care!
