Avatar m tn I have bursitis of the knee that hasn't fully healed in over a year. If I exercise with the bursitis, including use of the leg extension machine, what kind of injury am I risking?
Avatar f tn I’ve been to see a physio and he seems to think I have bursitis, he has given me exercises and I’ve been stretching my muscles and rolling out but it doesn’t seem to be improving. Any tips or anyone suffered from this that could share how they recovered.
Avatar m tn Hi there! Well, without an evaluation it would be difficult to determine the cause of the knee pain. Possibilities that may need to be considered include patellar dislocation, chondromalacia patellae, infections/ inflammations, arthritis, bursitis, tendonitis, cyst formation, iliotibial band syndrome, osgood schlatter disease, bone growths/ tumours, nerve impingement/ compression, fractures, injuries to the internal knee ligaments/ menisci etc; just to name a few.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the prompt response! I generally don't do any exercises that require kneeling. I've found that knee issues tend to be quite difficult to accurately dx. For example, I was told my knee pain from a marathon was nothing after x-rays, PT, and an MRI. I was finally diagnosed almost a year later with pes anserinus bursitis. Is there anything else that it might be aside from Plica Syndrome? My podiatrist passed it off as a bursitis, which I don't think is an accurate dx.
Avatar f tn I am 51 years old with left knee pain for greater than a year. After having physical therapy for 4 weeks, continued exercises at home, ice, motrin I still have pain. Some days none, some days it can be bad. I finally had an MRI and the results were "Horizontal oblique tear of the body and posterior horn medial meniscus with 1.6x1.1x4.0cm parameniscal cyst extending inferiorly along the medial margin of the proximal tibial metaphysis.
Avatar f tn It seems the swelling is due to reactionary effusion or minor bleeding due to injury. Even patellar bursitis causes the same swelling in knee. Here are few links to get more information about the causes of knee swelling. http://www.sportsdoc.umn.edu/Patients_Folder/Patient%20Information%20Main/knee%20swelling/knee_swelling.htm http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/symptoms/knee_swelling/causes.
Avatar f tn So, in October - November 2021 I've had bursitis on my right knee for several weeks from prolonged kneeling possibly due to my old job which then turned into an abscess and was in hospital for a week on antibiotics with septic bursitis. The doctors were never sure how I developed it. If I remember correctly my doctor said it was gram positive cocci.
Avatar n tn My mother has been having shoulder pain and upper arm stiffness in both arms and shoulders now for months. Her arthritic doctor has done blood work and diagnosed her with bursitis, borderline RA, oesteoarthritis (from xrays) and put her on prednisone. She also sent her to a neurologist thinking it might be a pinched nerve. She has also been doing physical therapy 3 times a week for 4 weeks. Nothing is giving her relief.
Avatar m tn I am an athlete and have been taking it easy for months due to my hip bursitis. I am eager to get back to working out as this injury has taken a toll on my sports performance, however my hip just refuses to heal. I have taken tons of advil, stayed off my feet as much as possible, and avoided exercises that aggravate my hip, but nothing is really making a difference. How do I find an effective way to heal my hip for good?
Avatar m tn Last August I discovered a bubble on my left knee cap and was told it was bursitis. That went away with Ibuprofen. For the past few months, I have had a bad burning feeling in my left knee. It is there most of the time when I am at rest or up walking around. I am a Pharmacy Technician so I do not do a lot of physical work. I do sit at a desk most of the time.I do not recall injuring it. I went to my local Prompt care this past weekend and the doctor said it is not bursitis.
Avatar f tn This may be related to prepatellar bursitis, or "housemaids" knee". The bursa sits in front on the patella (kneecap) and protects the patella tendon as it glides. If you kneel on it for prolonged amonts of time it becomwes chronically thickened and inflamed. You may have a hemorrhagic form, where you are bleeding itno the bursa.
Avatar f tn can shoulder bursitis be cured? Had 3rd rotator cuff surgery and report says I have massive irratative bursitis. what exactly is that? Is it like arthritis?
Avatar m tn Most of the time when I am walking around it feels like normal, however there are times that I feel excruiating pain in and around the knee. I have noticed most times it occurs is when i am bending deep with my knee I.e. getting into my car, going down stairs fast, bending down to pick something off the ground. However it does not always happen when I am doing these activities. When the pain starts the only way I have seen to relief the pain is to straighten out my leg.
Avatar f tn I’m 52, have had left leg pain (hip area down to ankle) left hip is painful to touch, aching in left leg, pain in knee and stiffness in left knee ( low mobility in knee ). Doctor said my reflexes are overactive. I’ve had MRI cervical, MRI lumbar ( nothing conclusive ). Also having bladder issues. Recurring UTIs or what feels like UTI, bladder control issues and urinary frequency.
Avatar n tn Hello Tttyner, welcome to the pain management Forum of Medhelp. I am sorry to hear about your knee pain. "Bad" knees runs heavy in my family. I know how painful they can be. I have been lucky enough to avoid them. There are so many different reasons that could be the cause of your knee pain. Arthritis, Ligament issues, Cartilage or Meniscus tears, Chondromalacia Patella (knee cap) Bursitis and the list goes on.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for writing in. Bursitis of knee usually presents only with pain. Some amount of swelling and redness can also be present, but that is not the differentiating symptom. It is usually associated with significant pain when kneeling and can cause stiffness and pain with walking. Also, in contrast to problems within the knee joint, the range of motion of the knee is frequently preserved. Consult a orthopedician for further assistance. Best.
Avatar n tn Other possible conditions that can present with a lump on the knee include a prepatellar bursitis and infrapatellar bursitis. Both conditions can be secondary to repeated trauma to the tissue overlying the patella. It would be best to seek consult with your doctor. Take care.
Avatar m tn I am no expert, but it sounds trocanteric bursitis. You might have your ortho inject it for imflamation.
