I can move them around with my finger. It is right on my knee cap. I have had runners knee and had a few falls on my knee in my life. It does not hurt that bad unless I stand or walk for a while. Im assuming its loose bodies/cartilage but im not sure if you can have those by the surface of your skin above the kneecap? What do you think this is and should I see a doctor for treatment? I hope this makes sense!
There are options available, but some are really not good for a young person. My advice is to go to the athletic department at your college and ask who does their knee reconstructions for them. Then, go see that orthopedic surgeon. He will get x-rays, do an exam, and then tell you what surgical options are best. Sorry I cannot be more specific.
I am now 51 years old, and despite still having beebees in the knee area and a missing knee cap I have been fairly active, but now have arthritis surrounding the area and my knee occasionally pops out of alignment. I build livestock fence on hilly terrain and rope riding my horses.
I would like to know what knee brace I could use to give it the best support possible (without being too hot when wearing) while doing these activities?

I only took a week off of work & started PT 9 days after surgery. I am walking better & the bending is getting easier.
My question is (my PT guy could not answer) why do I still have fluid on the top of my knee (left side) if the holes are at the bottom sides of the knee cap.
Hello, thanks for responding the pain has not gone away and it has been almost three weeks, the area of the pain feels to be a little under my knee cap in front and slightly moving to the left side of the knee cap area. When I bend it and try to put weight the pain is a instant sharp shooting pain and it looks a tiny bit puffy on the left side of the knee cap but I put ice and it don't go down. Had xrays done and I was told by ER dont look bad, should I not listen and get a MRI?
This time around, i have been having a very sharp pain under my knee, inside the knee cap and on the side of my knee (laterally) Its like its locking, catching and occurs mostly when i walk, i cannot straighten the knee fully. It also happens either after walking awhile like 5-10 miniutes or right away. Sometimes i dont have a pain occurrence at all until the end of the day after overuse.
Did I tear something this time hurting my knee?
But no use, then had advised me to wear knee cap for few days. I was feeling better with knee cap. I removed it after 25 days, it was little better for 2 days, then again the pain is back. After few days, went to orthopedic, he said no problems and advised me to do some exercises. Then also no use.
I have still have the pain in my knee and following parts....couldn't talk for more than 10 mins. Could you please advise me how to solve this and become normal.
x-rays show obvious knee cap deteriation ( less than 50 % of the other knee in size ) and an old MRI report said slight sublexation- I have two questions untill I get a different referral from my PCP ( although the doc stated the obvious about the knee cap he did not even bother to allow me to show him what happens when I bend my knee and it wobbles and crunchs and did not even offer a brace solution to my falls )

Every so often, if I slightly turn my body in one direction but my leg doesnt follow quick enough and even just slightly puts a twist on my knee, I get this stabbing right in the center of my knee cap if I try to put my weight on the leg. I have to keep it slightly bent and no pressure on it at all. If I have no pressure on it, the stabbing isnt there, just with pressure. And sore if I try to straighten the knee.
Summer 2016 I also noticed when I would be sitting in the sun with my knee bent it would cause a burning sensation only in the right knee which was painful. Just wondering if you think it's bad enough to go see an orthopaedic doctor or will I just have to live with it?
I'm moving to Canada soon and because I'll be going skiing/snow boarding I'm a little nervous with it, also it would be nice to be able to kneel.
I was told that I have patella feminel pain, I am use to having trouble kneeling and walking after a shift at work and and my knee being weak and the knee cap moving around, but lately even when I am not doing anything it feels as though something is push up on my knee cap, and extremely painful and I cant get the pain to go away. At time it feels as though something is being wedged under my knee cap.
A month or so ago, I turned on my chair to raise up from my office desk and bumped my knee cap sharply on the drawer handle. The pain of that contact brought immediate tears and very nearly caused me to pass out. I was able to catch myself and focus enough to remind myself to breathe and had to reamain seated for some time.
Since then, I have had difficulty bearing weight on that (right) knee and cannot fully flex or contract that joint at all.

I had left knee surgery in November of 2013 because my knee would swell from time to time from too much activity so it would hurt and be really stiff for a couple days then the pain would go entirely away with little rest. My surgeon said the only thing he could find was that my knee cap shows some wear and he cleaned up a few things but really was nothing for him to fix! Well, from the day I got out of surgery till today (8 months) my knee has been hurting non stop 24-7!

i started to get a jolting sharp pain on my left knee i think coming from the knee cap or around the sides of the knee cap. it went away the next day but came back again few days later...... it seems to come when i just walk on the knee not every step but a certain pressure of my steps. I had my IM surgery (two screws in the hip, one above my knee) on jan 1st (yes New years) and I cant even sit in a chair yet. It's now the 3.5 weeks out and I cant bend my knee yet! When I try, below my knee cap/sides of knee have very painful pressure and I get this unreal cramp-like sensation in my quad that feels like a rock and pretty much paralyzes my leg until it loosens up (very painful).
I have pains in my right knee. When touching around the cap in the soft spots it hurts. When pushing centre of the cap it hurts also further up top of cap hurts. Getting shooting pains up thigh and numbness when sitting, a cold feeling. It's been 2 days now yesterday it was hard to walk around without a limp to keep off of it. In the past I have hit it on a couple things fairly hard as I am a labourer.
After the numbing agent wore off, it felt as if someone has taken a wedge and shoved it between my knee cap and shin ever since. I cannot put much pressure on my right knee as I feel like my knee will break upward. The actual knee cap is very sore on the opposite side of the injection site and it's terribly uncomfortable to straighten it out as it feels like my knee cap is going into my thigh. There is also a massive amount of swelling that radiates up to my thigh and down towards my shin.
I work in a convenience store and have to kneel down to get into certain places so I feel this pain every time I kneel on my left knee. The pain is the bottom of my knee cap on the left side of my left knee. I did karate for years and I do not know if it is an injury I didn't know I had that is just acting up now.
