Avatar n tn Hurt my knee 2 weeks before my junior high school volleyball tryouts (august of 2009)... was told i had a partial tear in my patellar tendon in the right knee & the left one was starting to do the same. He instructed me to sit out for 6 weeks to give time to heal or i might end up rupturing it. Sat out for my 6 weeks, then went back to playing and finishing my season. After the season was over (november of 2009), still had very bad knee pain...
722310 tn?1234762137 My husband has been suffering from severe knee pain after playing gym volleyball. This pain has peristed for more than 3 months now. Our biggest problem is, we do not have health insurance and we are living on his unemployment and my job, which isn't nearly enough for our large family of 7. We know he needs to be checked out, however we are concerned that it will become a pre-existing condiditon, when he is able to get insurance.
Avatar m tn I read "I bought a knee brace for work, and sports. It is like elastaprene, or something. It works well keeping my knee stable (ACL injury). But it makes my skin have a rash. Is there another style material brace I could buy that would not make my skin have a rash? " But no answer. Is there any solution?

Avatar m tn hello, I play volleyball, which is hard on the knees from diving to jumping all the time... a few months ago I dove and hit my knee on the groung very hard. My knee pain went away and it recently has come back. It feels like a knife goes into my knee right below my knee cap every time i jump or put a lot of pressure on it like trying to stand up. I have been icing it, but it won't go away....Does anyone 1. Know what is wrong? or 2. Know how to fix it?
999692 tn?1250637950 d need surgery to fix it. I need a knee brace and to do strengthening exercises so I can still hike, bike, and run. Any suggestions on braces that can withstand such abuse?
Avatar f tn Now I wear an ankle brace during my sports that I play. Now where my ankle brace is, I get this weird bumpy rash. Sometimes it shows up like a whole bunch of pimples in on little collage. And sometimes it's just a big red bump. It is all over my ankle and it itches. I have talked to a dermatologist and the doctor gave me this fluocinonide ointment and at first it really worked and now it does not work hardly at all.
Avatar f tn Is it o.k. to wear a knee brace that also covers the vaiacose vein in my shin. without the brace I have pain in my knee cap & not sure if any pain is from the varicose vein. it does feel better with the brace on But will it do harm to the varicose vein?
Avatar n tn I did something to my leg last Wednesday. That night, I went to urgent care and they x-rayed it, said that was fine, and told me that I had strained my hamstring and I should see a sports doctor the next day, so I did. On Thursday, the sports doctor also took a look at the x-rays, said they were fine, said I had a hamstring strain but it wasn't a big deal, to get a brace, and use crutches.
Avatar f tn Knee braces can provide support, stability, and pain relief for various knee issues, including meniscus tears. By wearing a knee brace, you can alleviate some of the stress on your knee and promote healing.
Avatar m tn I was recently playing volleyball about 2 weeks ago and i was diving for a ball hitting the same part of my knee on the ground (lateral side of knee). Ever since the 3rd time hitting it on the ground i noticed swelling in the spot and a little bit of pain, then 2 weeks later i am playing again and still landing on the same part of my knee, instantly after my knee feels stiff and very painful to move and walk.
Avatar m tn He also suggested waiting as long as possible for knee replacement so hopefully the brace helps- he did say there were more specialized Patella support braces available also- Can you recommend any if this one seems to help the situation???
645800 tn?1466860955 Yesterday I finally got my new foot brace for my right foot ( called a toe off) . Right from the start it felt so weird walking with it on. Probably mostly because my foot has been dropping and turning in for such a long time that I had gotten somewhat use to it. It is made of carbon fiber material and goes all the way up my shin to just below my knee.
Avatar m tn I was playing volleyball and jumped and landed on my knee, the first few days my knee hurt too bad to walk on. It has been about a month now and I can walk with no problem but if I turn or back up or go down or up hills it still hurts sometimes. It also feels like something is moving when I turn sometime .Could this be serious? Should I see a doctor?
Avatar n tn m extremely active and I play volleyball around 3 hours every day and I plan to play in college. My hamstrings are not tight, most doctors are amazed at my flexibility, and have suggested I'm hyperflexible. I have tried a medrol dose pack, muscle relexers, a tens unit, a back brace, 7 months of physical therapy three times a week which included electrical stimulation, ultrasound, massage, joint mobes, strength excersizes, stretching, traction, and yoga moves.
Avatar m tn The knee started feeling around 80% better about 3 days ago. I wore knee brace every day even to sleep, 2 days ago I changed to a more comfortable brace with those metal hinges on sides, also slept with it. My current issue/question, is 2 days ago I woke up with a swollen ankle and pain when putting leg down to walk. I don't remember any sprain in ankle at all, I had just walked a theme park the night before with no ankle issue or even the knee felt great.
Avatar f tn thanks for your reply, I was also wondering do you think they would follow the same steps as last time regarding the surgery?? like six weeks on crutches again but no knee brace again or would they maybe change it?
Avatar f tn See your chiropractor, seriously, I have a knee that does that, he works on it and it is fine. In the mean time, try wearing a knee brace to give it support.
486038 tn?1300063367 Wha is THAT? Sounds like an alien to me. The NYU doctor said I needed one on my foot to help with my walking... and so I said "ok". This is a brace right? Because he was talking about a brace too. Just making sure!
Avatar f tn I am 17 years old and I've been having chronic knee pain for almost 5 years now. It started in my left knee and for the past 2 years it has been in both of my knees. I am an athlete and have played basketball, volleyball, and softball in the past 5 years and am currently just playing softball. My knee click and pop and lock in place on a daily basis. I have gotten multiple x rays and MRIs and they have all come back with nothing obviously wrong.
Avatar f tn I have no reflex in my right knee and I was thinking about getting a brace for it. Anyone have similar problems and used a brace?
957414 tn?1246670050 I went down right away and felt pain in my left knee. Both sides of my knee were a little bit swollen, and I could not bend my knee all the way back. In addition, if I put pressure on the sides of my knee, it hurts and this was after swelling went down. I was able to bear my full weight on my injuried leg without pain at all. I have since then put on a brace to limit my knee movement with icing and elevation.
Avatar n tn Got all the pills and drained right knee. If its not better he has to cut.
