Avatar m tn I bought a knee brace for work, and sports. It is like elastaprene, or something. It works well keeping my knee stable (ACL injury). But it makes my skin have a rash. Is there another style material brace I could buy that would not make my skin have a rash?
Avatar m tn Hi! About 9 days ago I got a MCL (medial ligament) sprain on my left knee, doing sports, i'm in my mid 30s. Minor swelling and some pain to knee. The knee started feeling around 80% better about 3 days ago. I wore knee brace every day even to sleep, 2 days ago I changed to a more comfortable brace with those metal hinges on sides, also slept with it. My current issue/question, is 2 days ago I woke up with a swollen ankle and pain when putting leg down to walk.
Avatar f tn My son destroyed an ACL playing football -- he lives a normal life without one, but uses an orthopaedic knee brace when he runs or plays sports.
Avatar m tn i underwent left knee orthroscopy for miniscus tear (removal of broken minisci pieces) 5 years back and recently the same with right knee. i was wondering how will it effect knees in longer run. will it effect walking, running, exercising etc?will i be able to perform sports?during routine walking/running,my left knee gives clicking sounds(but theseare painless, the same which got miniscus removed 5 years back ) is it harming knee?
957414 tn?1246670050 I went down right away and felt pain in my left knee. Both sides of my knee were a little bit swollen, and I could not bend my knee all the way back. In addition, if I put pressure on the sides of my knee, it hurts and this was after swelling went down. I was able to bear my full weight on my injuried leg without pain at all. I have since then put on a brace to limit my knee movement with icing and elevation.
Avatar f tn the only thing to give it a glimmer of relief is the knee brace i have to wear now. the pain is on my right knee, it varies where it hurts but lately it's on the right outside part. sometimes when i'm sitting in the butterfly position the pain is in the same place but it extends to the front of my kneecap. i dont know what to do help!!
Avatar m tn s baseball season and had no other problems and the knee appears sound. Recently he dove for a ball and his knee swelled up over the weekend. From what I can gather it sounds like a contusion to the same knee. Is this type of swelling unusual and to be expected? He doesn't where any type of brace at the advise of the surgeon. What advise can you provide?
Avatar f tn The nurses at the hospital gave me a small knee brace and refused to listen to me because the brace was supposed to be tight enough to support the knee. After a week of wearing the brace I discovered just how correct I was about it being too tight because my foot started swelling due to the lack of blood flow the knee brace had created and made it a mission to walk with a painful knee and a painful swollen foot.
Avatar n tn I did something to my leg last Wednesday. That night, I went to urgent care and they x-rayed it, said that was fine, and told me that I had strained my hamstring and I should see a sports doctor the next day, so I did. On Thursday, the sports doctor also took a look at the x-rays, said they were fine, said I had a hamstring strain but it wasn't a big deal, to get a brace, and use crutches.
Avatar f tn That's a really good question for your orthopedist and physical therapist. I would definitely keep doing your routine used during recovery with hopes you eventually get to the normal point (grade A). Do you feel what the test is showing? Anything like limited range of motion? You just want to be very careful you don't get into a position of reinjuring it if so. I'd wear a knee brace at the very least for now. Here's info on the Lachman test https://www.healthline.
Avatar f tn In 2004, I injured my knee playing sports. They found it to be a large medial meniscus tear. I wore a brace for a long while and things seemed to be looking up, however it is now 5 years later and i don't particularly enjoy wearing my brace but i still have problems with it. Sometimes it will just lock up and i feel like i can't move my leg. What are my treatment options to prevent this from plaguing me forever?
Avatar m tn With restrictive movements and also by using a brace at your knee joint you can have an elective surgery after 4 months. It is not an emergency and you can explain your surgeon about this and take a suitable date and take the necessary tips from your orthopedician so that you do not damage it any further. Take care!
16237877 tn?1446544835 About 2 years ago, I started running for the reason to get fit. But suddenly I happened to get knee pain whenever I ran or just walked. I thought that it was a sign of me doing something wrong when I run. I tried changing my shoes, but that didn't work. Finally, I had to go for a knee pain treatment at Physio Now Mississauga. The therapist there evaluated my knee. I was asked to wear a custom knee brace for a while. That helped a lot with pain.
Avatar f tn You could use walking supports or knee brace for the time being. Also for starting exercises, it is better to consult a physiotherapist, to avoid movements that could worsen the condition. Hope this is useful. Take care!
Avatar m tn ), then obviously you need to see a doc about perhaps a brace or whatever it would take to help support that weak knee. A sports injury doc might be your best bet, they are so very good at diagnosing your sort of problem, they are always closely associated with physical therapy people, and they could order a brace, just everything you need. Or your own regular physicians could easily determine what is going on, a scan might reveal a joint problem, or just a regular exam of you.
Avatar m tn I am 15 and i am very active in sports i am an all star cheerleader, high school cheerleader, soccer player and softball player. I have been having knee pain for about 4 months now and my doctor told me i have patellofemoral syndrome and a bad case of patellar tendonitis, so he told me to go to physical therapy to build my thigh muscles .
Avatar f tn after physical therapy and lots of rest, i was cleared to play lacrosse again. My knee was feeling alot better and stronger. i still wear a brace while i play to try to prevent any further injury. however, i'm afraid its injured again. my knee clicks and pops alot no and there is a piece of what i'm guessing is cartilage that moves around when i'm walking or running etc. my knee feels very weak and stiff like it did before surgery.
Avatar m tn I am already able to walk (with the brace looked at 0) confidently and the last few days started to do calf raises and leg raises (with the brace on locked of course) I was wondering how many weeks it took for people to be comfortable to walk without the brace. Additionally, is there any younger athletes on here on who done an accelerated program? I am trying to respect the injury but for someone who lives sports and fitness it is really hard to be pretty much immobile.
Avatar f tn im 14 and ever since i fell about a year ago i began having real bad knee pain it started in my right knee, it was relly bad & i couldnt walk w/o crutches and a knee brace for about a week. then the pain went away for a while about 4 1/2 months and now its come back but this time on my left knee. i dont know if this has anything to do with my injury, it also could be my weight even though it shouldnt because im not too overweight just average.

Avatar n tn or will that hurt it more, i have a knee brace im gonna wear to try and help.
Avatar m tn and after that, consulting a orthopedic doctor I got a knee brace and on complete bed rest from that time, without keeping my leg down or putting any strain on it. But I am still not able to keep my leg down or stand(tried today morning with help of a stick). So, I am very concerned what should be the next step and whether I will be able to achieve complete recovery and in how much time? Attaching the MRI report with this.
Avatar f tn thanks for caring :), and yes i was in sports i was a gymnast and a dancer. All my knee pain started when i was in gymnastics with the cracking and swelling. So when i was 14 that's when i had my first knee surgery i had a plica i think that's how you spell it, and some cartilage damage.
