Avatar m tn kidney stones can be very recurring and can start very young, although ive never heard of someone getting them in their early teens.. usually early 20s, but that doesnt mean it doesnt happen earlier. it sounds like you will have to sit in some pain until you get insurance again. you can try to seek out clinics, but theyre not very good at helping. get your insurance back and go to a dr, because if you have them so often, you might have something else going on.
Avatar n tn My 15 year old daughter had a CT scan to check for kidney stones. The doctor told me the results showed stones in both kidneys...more in the right than in the left. Also showed a 4cm by 4cm cyst on the right ovary. She put her on birth control pills for a couple of cycles to see if the cyst goes away. So we are starting month 1 with the birth control pills, and waiting for an ultrasound in a month or two. As for the kidney stones...

If so, check out hypercalcemia (high blood calcium)...I know quite a bit about hepatitis, but not about autoimmune hepatitis...Hepatitis is simply inflammation of the liver caused by a myriad of things..Usually viruses, but not always...
Avatar m tn What, if anything, can be done for a young man of 26 years of age with chronic pain and kidney stones that apparently are going to affect his health for quite some time?
15905440 tn?1443866928 Hello and Welcome, I'm very sorry to hear about your kidney stones, especially so as you are do young. They can be so very painful. First of all kidney stones are more apt to produce pain in your flank than in your abdominal area - however you can have both. My pain is always located in my flank and sometimes in my groin. I've passed too many stones to count. The last one that was measured (and I passed) was well over 6mm.
Avatar m tn Good question and unfortunately there is not a single reason. So many things seem to have a possible contributing factor towards artery disease and it's still unclear which combinations generate the greater risks. You have mentioned some important factors, but there are still a few more. Environmental/social stress. Research on chimps across various zoos have shown interesting results.
Avatar f tn This is my first time making a posting here, I found this website while doing searches on kidney stones. I guess I am looking for advice or any feedback at all - anyone else my age experiencing such discomfort with stones? Please read. I'm 26 years old and I have been suffering from multiple stones in both kidneys for quite some time. Since December I have had 3 CT Scans, numerous x-rays, ultrasounds, urine tests, bloodwork, and lithotripy during my multiple trips to the ER.

443757 tn?1217554790 The riba is known to be rough on your kidneys. Caffiene can cause kidney stones. Usually you have to drink it for many years, but the alkalines, inclusive of all forms od speed, have an irritating effect and change PH making stones more formable. Also your genetics and cholesterol levels determine if and when you will get stones and how resislient your kidneys are, so at any age there is risk to certain people, and certainly to those on Riba therapy.
Avatar f tn I passed my first kidney stone at age 20 ( probably had them before then but just Mia diagnosed) Passed about 2 a year since then. Have been going to urologist with no real preventative care, they only wanted to help when I had a stone. -roughly 4 stones in each kidney. -Calcium oxalate.
Avatar n tn Up to 20% of adults with kidney stones may have medullary sponge kidney; the corresponding figure in children is unknown. Among patients with kidney stones, hypercalciuria may occur in 40-50%, and recurrent gross hematuria may occur in 10-20%. Although no evidence indicates that risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) is higher in patients with medullary sponge kidney, up to 5% of males and 35% of females have a UTI.

Avatar f tn I got a CT scan last week and my report says I have 6 stones in my right kidney and 3 stones in the left. I also havea 1cm cyst in my right lower kidney. I am just 18 years of age and I hear it from everyone that I am too young for this to happen to me. I have had kidney stones in the past before since I can last remember. I have an appointment with a Urologist next week and I just can't wait to know of I should worry. I am worried that the cyst may be cancerous or something bad like that.

Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? There is no relation between varicocele and renal stones. Presence of renal stones at a younger age should warrant a complete work up for any metabolic disorders or dietary abnormalities which could promote the formation of stones in the urinary tract. Consult a urologist for further assistance. Best.
Avatar n tn I am going back to my Urologist on fri to discuss it again as before xmas he wanted to drain it, but in the end it was too risky. I was told Females of my age do not tend to suffer with kidney cysts alot. But I am seeing more and more cases of it online and thinking it cant be so rare after all. Hope your daughter gets sorted.
Avatar f tn Have you had an IVP test? This is an x-ray with contrast, and is the best test for kidney stones.
1120324 tn?1259238678 Now that he has a new pcp, we found out that his gfr was I think about 70 and we had absolutely no idea about this and he has had it for over a year so the new doc told us.
Avatar f tn A high count of red blood cells in the urine can indicate infection, trauma, tumors, or kidney stones. If red blood cells seen under microscopy look distorted, they suggest kidney as the possible source and may arise due to kidney inflammation (glomerulonephritis). Small amounts of red blood cells in the urine are sometimes seen young healthy people and usually are not indicative of any disease. What can the presence of white blood cells in the urine mean?

1832268 tn?1326819610 We brought him home and did twice daily under skin fluids plus standard recommended meds and kidney diet. We then took him to a kidney specialist who was trying to determine at what stage of Kidney disease he was at. Got his levels down a little more a week little later, things were looking promising and his energy levels were increasing dramatically. Less than a week later, he completely stopped eating. Took him to specialist after 2 days of not eating.
Avatar f tn I lost my very first dog, the dog I grew up with from age 8 to 24, from kidney failure. He was 16 when he died. It was only 3 1/2 months from diagnosis until when I took him to be euthanized. That was back in 1980. He was a happy boy until the end. He just stopped eating and drinking. I took him for his last walk before taking him to the vet. I could not stop crying for so long. My hormones were crazy as I was a month and a half from giving birth to my first born.
661200 tn?1225486613 I have just returned from the vet and fund out this morning that my 12 year old Golden Retriever-Lab called Topaz has an enlarged heart and Kidney stones. Because of the heart condition the vet doesnt want to put him under general anesthesia for kidney stone surgery. I live in New Delhi and the resources are limited. However, I am doing the best I can and praying for a healthy and happy dog.
1963554 tn?1325451090 He said that his right kidney is destroyed and that his left kidney has about 25% left. He has a tumor within his bladder and his urine cannot pass thru which goes into his kidney and damages it. When we had Shaggy checked out in May our vet said that it's UTI...because I mentioned to him that he'd pee and then go to other spots and nothing comes out. So he was given anti-biotics. This went on for several months.
1916673 tn?1420236870 I would have to be completely honest and say, given her age and her kidney failure, and given that she has had (presumably) good dental care up to two years ago - I would forget about the dental work. It is true that according to some sources, bad dental hygiene is a major contributor to kidney failure. However, once a dog is in kidney failure, stress can be even more damaging. And that's without the high risk that anaesthetic will introduce.
Avatar f tn Hi Christina. I think the peach stone wouldn't have caused the kidney disease. The stones do contain toxic substances, but in relatively small quantities. The swimming in stagnant water is a possibility, but quite honestly, I think this kidney disease began maybe 2 or 3 years ago, so again it may have adversely affected an already existing condition, but not necessarily caused it.
