Avatar f tn I got my stones for the first time while pregnant. It was miserably painful! I guess I passed it because it settled off and the pain went away. Then when my baby was about 6 months old, I had one move in my other kidney. It was miserable again. After much running, walking, bouncing, and flooding my system with water, I finally passed it right before the urologist got his chance to fish it out! I was sooo relieved!

Avatar f tn It's been three weeks since my diagnosis of having multiple kidney stones on the right side. The Radiologist who gave me my stat results said I would pass them and didnt think straining my urine was something I needed to do. I finally got in to see my urologist he was upset I wasn't straining and wanted me to have surgery since I will be undergoing IVF treatments in March. I agreed because I don't want to deal with flare up while pregnant.
Avatar f tn Urologist performed cystocopy (normal), ultrasound (normal with R kidney hydronephrosis), CT scan showed no hydronephrosis but two 2mm non obstructing LEFT kidney stones. Avatar n tn I suffer from what is called Polycystic Kidney Disease (google it) which causes chronic kidney stones. Many people have this disease with no signs until they are much olde. When their kidneys begin to fail them. Diarrhea is related because when the stone is stuck in the ureter ( the tube leading down to your bladder from your kidney) this sends a message to your entire digestive tract to stop.

Those results suggest that over a year's time, among 10,000 postmenopausal women taking hormones, five would develop kidney stones who wouldn't have if they hadn't used the pills.
The risks were similar for women taking Prempro, pills containing estrogen plus progestin — or Premarin, estrogen-only pills.

Recent data suggest that overall, about 6 percent of postmenopausal women develop kidney stones.

Avatar m tn As far as wondering if you have kidney stones, all I can say is I hope you don't because they are the male equivalent to giving birth as far as pain goes and I've even heard some women say that it's worse than giving birth having experienced both. Not trying to scare you just trying to be honest and help you to be prepared if that's what it turns out to be is kidney stones. Hopefully if it's any of the 3 it's just a simple bladder infection that will clear up with a few days of antibiotics.
342647 tn?1291111533 I suffer from kidney stones... they suck, but I have a high pain tolerance and opt not to take anything. Yes, they hurt... but if you think about how the pain won't last forever, it helps. And, the stones would have to be pretty large for them to cause kidney damage. Just so you know, most of the time kidney stones resolve themselves. They will break down in the kidneys and most of the time you won't even know you are passing them.
Avatar m tn The doctor prescribed me a medicine called 'Blemaren' that supposedly dissolves kidney stones. Today (a month later) I went to another urologist. He took a look at my test results and said that he does not see any sign of inflammation. The ultrasound I did today showed 'sand' 3-4 mm. The doctor said that I have nothing to worry about, that these are just salt deposits that will go away if I drink enough water and take some pills for a month.
Avatar n tn My 15 year old daughter had a CT scan to check for kidney stones. The doctor told me the results showed stones in both kidneys...more in the right than in the left. Also showed a 4cm by 4cm cyst on the right ovary. She put her on birth control pills for a couple of cycles to see if the cyst goes away. So we are starting month 1 with the birth control pills, and waiting for an ultrasound in a month or two. As for the kidney stones...

Avatar f tn While I was pregnant I had kidney stones and a kidney infection. I ended up having a miscarriage at 8 weeks, and that was 2 weeks ago today. I went to the hospital last night with horrible kidney pain that went through to my abdomen and they did a CT scan and said I had kidney stones, a bladder infection and that the cyst on my ovaries from 4 months ago had grown to about 3.2. What is causing this? And what should I do about it? Are any of these things related? Should I worry about the cyst?
Avatar f tn Drink lots of warm water, and do kapalbhati pranayam for more than 20 minutes, twice a day. In a few weeks, the kidney stones will be flushed out. After the stones are out, let me know what other benefits you noticed, and I will suggest some techniques to stimulate the thyroid and parathyroid. Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute. Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second.
Avatar n tn I'm 22 years old, and have suffered with kidney stones for 2 years, ranging from 1 mm to one thats in me right now which is over 10mm! On two separate occasions, when being seen in the ER while in ridiculous amounts of pain, I have been told by doctors that I shouldn't be in pain because there is no obstructing stone. Bull, I say. Renal Colic is a very distinct type of pain, and believe me, there is no mistaking it. I had one doctor go so far as to tell me it must be muscular back pain..
Avatar n tn An utra sound found nothing unusual. The urologist thinks it is either kidney stones or the residual effects of a bad infection. He would like me to get a CT. I am concerned as I have had 3 CT scans after a PE in both lungs 2 years ago after delivery. What are your thoughts? He does not think it is IC because it came on so suddenly. He said that the urine cultures were tainted due to the antibiotics. I can go 2-3.5 hours between void but I am holding it. What are your thoughts?
Avatar n tn Hello, Recurrent urine infections could be due to various reasons. Most common cause is stones in kidney which is blocking urine pathway. Other causes are changing sexual partners frequently, pregnancy, diabetes and of course childhood infections. The urine can also be due to retention of urine anywhere in its flow due to obstruction. The obstruction can be due to abnormality of structures since birth, stones or diseases like tumors. Females are more prone to urine infections.

Avatar f tn I have a kidney disease which causes me to pass several kidney stones a month. Not only do I have the pain when passing a stone but due to the disease have constant chronic pain even when not passing a stone. My pain specialist, nephrologist and primary physician have me taking 2-15mg MS Contin and 4-7.5/325mg Percocet daily along with up to 4-50mg Demerol when needed for more severe pain. I've been taking these medications for approximately 6 plus years.
Avatar f tn I'm 30 weeks pregnant and have multiple kidney stones.. I just recently spent 2 weeks in the hospital in extreme pain trying to pass one that was stuck in my ueter tubes.
Avatar f tn Kidney stone pain is often associated with low back pain and abdominal pain. Kidney stones, especially those in the left kidney, can also cause significant amounts of nausea and even vomiting. As the stone moves further down the ureter toward the bladder, the pain often radiates in the groin and genital areas. In men, the pain may radiate to the scrotum. In women, the pain may radiate to the labia or even the vagina.
Avatar m tn It was found that my stone was calcium based and I was told to avoid all dairy products as well as some fruit and veg. There are 4 different types of kidney stones. Unfortunately, once you have had kidney stones the chances of getting another one are much higher.
