Common Questions and Answers about Kidney stones while pregnancy

Avatar n tn Does anyone have or had kidney stones or kidney infection during pregnancy? How was your experience? Any natural way to feel better? I was admitted 3 days at the hospital, had the worst pain ever. Still feeling some pain and lots of diarrhea. Sorry for the Tmi.

Less sever then the previous ones but i do fear it becoming more question is, does anyone know what they do for them during pregnancy? Befor they just threw a script of percs at me and idpass it on my own.
Avatar f tn I feel for you dear! I before pregnancy is prone to kidney stones...which puts me s high risk! I know kidney stones are painful enough but to add pregnancy on top of it...its so much worse! I do hope the best for you and a fast recovery!
Avatar f tn With my last pregnancy i had such bad kidney stones that they were blocking my ureter (the tube going from your kidney to your bladder) which caused all the urine on my left side to be stuck in my kidney i got really bad hydronephrosis (excessive swelling of the kidney) and had to have a stent placed 4 times while pregnant to let the urine flow correctly again!
Avatar n tn Since having kidney stones currently and knowing what they feel like not being pregnant, I can safely say that I have had stones at least 3 other times between the ages of 17 and 27 (pain at that time was diagnosed as most likely a cyst -- when pain was severe - shortly thereafter went away - they said cyst burst - i am confident that the pain was kidney stones). With that being said, I'm tired of getting the kidney stones (as well as the tiredness, soreness and moodiness).
5900973 tn?1396067991 I found out monday I have kidney stones for the 2nd time this pregnancy... :( I am going in friday for my csection and just hoping the pain eases up for me or that I just pass the dang stone... I dont want to be dealing with that after the birth. It just seems like bad timing, not that there is a good time for these things... Tmi but my urine looks like cranberry juice, kinda scary but I know its from the stone. I have been drinking tons of water.
Avatar f tn Any moms have experience with kidney stones while pregnant. Were you induced early or allowed to go as normal??
Avatar n tn And honestly percocet and dilaudid both carry the same risks (although really the biggest risk is the baby being born dependent and since you're only 14wks that's really not an issue unless you continue to have kidney stones throughout the pregnancy like I did with my firstborn). But truly pain medicine under the care of a doctor can be done quite safely. The bigger concern is your kidney function while you're.
Avatar f tn I'm 20 weeks pregnant and have really bad kidney stones my doctor prescribed me antibiotics and pain pills :-( I don't like taking the pain pill they make me sick and I don't feel like it is healthy for my baby.. Has any one been through this while pregnant?? I go back to work in 3 weeks and there's no way I can work with this much kidney pain!!
Avatar f tn I have been through tons of pregnancy kidney stones and that is all you can do.. mine got bad enough I almost lost my kidneys. And after my last baby was born I got septic and was hard headed and waited out going to the hospital being away from my new baby I almost did not make it... water is your best friend... drink drink drink... Good luck hun.... I hope you pass it...
Avatar f tn I'm 25 weeks and have history of kidney stones prior to pregnancy. I currently have them, yes plural. They're awful and no one should experience them, especially during pregnancy. I'm sure you're on flomax and an antibiotic? Also, the only thing that seems to remotely help are hot baths. My doctor informed me that if we can make it through this, labors a breeze.
Avatar f tn I'm 33 w and have passed four stones since 10 wks. I still have one in my ureter (stuck) which caused my kidney to not pass urine to my bladder... causing it too swell. At this point the pain is causing me to have pre term labor but the drs don't feel comfortable doing surgery as it could put me into labor. So I am coping with pain meds. Most of the time there is very little they can do when pregnant!
342647 tn?1291111533 I suffer from kidney stones... they suck, but I have a high pain tolerance and opt not to take anything. Yes, they hurt... but if you think about how the pain won't last forever, it helps. And, the stones would have to be pretty large for them to cause kidney damage. Just so you know, most of the time kidney stones resolve themselves. They will break down in the kidneys and most of the time you won't even know you are passing them.
463595 tn?1334000822 I feel your pain. With my second pregnancy I had horrible kidney stones. I ended up in the hospital numerous times. I had numerous kidney stones and one that was too big to pass. I ended up having to have a stent put in (while pregnant). I was in horrible pain for the remaining 11 weeks of pregnancy. Drinking lots of water is supposed to help. I am pregnant again now and pray I do not get any this time. Good luck.
9358102 tn?1418676967 I get kidney stones each time I get pregnant. Mine are caused by the xtra calcium that I consume while taking prenatals. I normally stop getting them about 6 months after giving birth. It's annoying and super painful but I want to give my babies the nutrients they need so I continue to take them.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone... Okay,so for the 7th time this year I have kidney stones again - I am a 20yr old female (and I live a healthy life) ... Doc put a stent in my right ureter cause my kidney is PACKED with stones! I had a UTI but that was treated in hospital when the stent was inserted... I am battling with my period, its like it just ran away or something... Can it just disappear? Like for 2months or longer?
Avatar f tn I suffer from recurrent kidney stones as well. Have in both my pregnancies. First pregnancy i had to have surgery for it at 25weeks. Now Im 24weeks with my second child and i have already passed 3 stones since 20weeks. Im so done with stones. I hope i don't have anymore.
Avatar f tn In august i started having unexplainable urinary problems. Peeing so much blood my pee was completely red, flank pain. No fever, no infection, no kidney stones nothing. Dr still doesnt know why this happened. I have trouble going pee some days where i have to strain like i am super constipated to pee. Some days i dont ever get the urge to go and have to remind myself to go pee every 45 minutes or so. Other times my bladder gets so full that it physically hurts.
1028300 tn?1252093974 I am almost 18 weeks pregnant and have kidney stones! They are supposed to be putting a stint in next Wed. The Dr. said that I might have complications such as kidney failure or contractions if I DON'T put the stint in, but I have heard that the stint is VERY painful, sometimes more so than just having kidney stones! He will change the stint every month until the stone(s) pass or the end of the pregnancy. The Dr. gave me phenegren and demerol for the pain. I am scared!
