Avatar n tn Hi, How are you? Kidney stones usually pass out through the urine stream with in 48hours. But this depends upon the size of the stone. A 4mm stone has 80% chances of coming out spontaneously, where as 5mm stone has 20% chances. Stones more than this size usually require treatment. Medical management includes calcium channel blockers, alpha blockers etc. Surgical treatment involves shock wave lithotripsy or percutaneous nephrolithotomy or open surgery.
Avatar n tn But i do have 1 question. Does anyone know if this can lead to increased chance of Kidney Stones? I dont have any kidney stone issues, but I just wanted to see if anyone knows if Phosphaturia can lead to any kidney issues. Thanks!
Avatar f tn These infections we get are not the usual garden variety UTI's and can become quite serious very fast because the organism is usually embedded deep in the stone that sits in our kidney or does it's thing as it passes out. Just my two cents.
168348 tn?1379360675 magnesium for the prevention of calcium oxalate kidney stones. I cannot take Urocit K because of terrible GI side effects, so my Urologist suggested this to help disuade them from forming. My calcium levels are normal. I have a condition called MSK (Medullary Sponge Kidney) that predisposes me to producing calcium oxalate or calcium oxalate/phosphorous stones. I avoid all oxalate containing foods and don't take any extra calcium supplements or antacids containing calcium Thanks.
Avatar m tn It was found that my stone was calcium based and I was told to avoid all dairy products as well as some fruit and veg. There are 4 different types of kidney stones. Unfortunately, once you have had kidney stones the chances of getting another one are much higher.
Avatar f tn Should some of these enter the blood stream, the ONLY other organ that comes to the rescue is the kidney, that constantly filters the blood and this explains the dehydration, as the kidney now is working overtime filtering out the toxins using extra water. Water is the best detoxifying agent! Also another function of the kidneys is water regulation. When chronic conditions cause the kidney to overwork, kidney dysfunction is inevitable.
Avatar f tn Hi, My suggestion is to go the hospital. Kidney stones are not something that is easily managed even on narcotics. The longer you wait the worse it gets. How do you know he has a kidney stone?

I hurt all the time, urologists thinks im in there for the narcotics, what is someone supposed to do? Hurt?

1660289 tn?1302560398 I have a Shih Tzu who is going in for surgery soon to have two large bladder stones removed. He also has two small ones in his kidney. The vet keeps talking about getting him started on Hill's diet. I have no intention of buying this food from them. I have reminded her three times that he needs to be on a grain free food. I will not risk the chance of switching foods & having him go through the miserable itchiness, hair loss & yeast infection again.

Avatar n tn It is good at helping the liver and kidneys eliminate toxins, helps with muscle and joint problems, and it can help precipitate crystals in joints (from arthritis), as well as help disolve gall stones and kidney stones. I have a few books on it, including one with a lot of recipes, and it is widely talked about on the web (using a web search). The best kind is the unpasteurized, raw ACV with the "mother" (enzymes). It is safe to drink as it kills bacteria and many viruses.

1916673 tn?1420236870 Higher than normal potassium is not very unusual in kidney disease, but it is important to discount other potential causes - including kidney or urinary tract stones. An ultra-sound and white blood cell (WBC) count will help identify if stones are a problem. Phosphorus is also too high. Dogs acquire phosphorus directly from food, and normally (in healthy dogs) any excess is excreted through the kidneys.

Be careful if you are on medication as things such as Diabetes etc. can be affected in a negative way because of vinegar so seek medical advice but otherwise try it in moderation and you'll notice the difference.
Avatar f tn I know I've flushed out kidney stones. I've figured out that the cause of my kidney stones is high fructose corn syrup in some of my favorite foods like fig bars which I've given up. I would not be surprised if that had something to do with my gall stones.

Avatar f tn I have dealt with kidney stones since I was 14 years old (1999) and have passed around 300 since then. My last CT scan showed about 20 stones in my kidneys and I also know I have at least 5 stuck in both ureters that they can't see on imaging. October 1st, I passed one of the large stones that has been stuck since March. I have seen 3 different urologists over the years.

Avatar f tn For years I tried everything from taking daily vinegar to taking a product called Kidney sp. It did nothing for my stones but did a job on helping my bladder to become in flamed! I now also have Interstitial Cystitis, too! However, my stones have not dramatically increased in 10 years either! Recently I have found info on a surgery that can clear out all the stones and so far none had reoccuring stones after 3.8 years! I am checking into this myself and will keep you posted!
Avatar f tn In reading many articles, I have also found that various and numerous physicians state that neither will do any good with regard to kidney stones. I guess if it works for you then it is good and if it doesn't work, it's definitely not that good. As I said, for me neither one has any positive affects but neither one can hurt you either so I can't see where it would hurt anyone to try one or both of those, in moderation of course.
949222 tn?1266838507 I couldn't take tums or any other of the calcium-based antacids because I have semi-chronic calcium kidney stones and they ARE chronic when I'm pregnant due to the different calcium absorption rates while you're pregnant...at any rate, I suffered for a long time before I was told to take zantac and it really made a difference, but ask your pharmacist and they can advise you about it until you can see your GP monday.

Avatar n tn But does anyone know if there are any long term problems it can cause? Like Kidney problems, such as stones, or in many years, kidney failure? Does anyone know if i am losing calcium which could lead to bone problems as I age? Or is Phosphaturia really harmless? Thanks!
