Avatar f tn I am new to this but I wanted to get on and figure out if anyone has had any symptoms like me.... I have had a pain in my right lower back since January. It started out only coming about once a month over my period...then it became more frequent. I went to the doctor and he sent me to a urologist. He said that I had kidney stones. But they were still in my kidney and they don't hurt while in the kidney. He did many cat scans, xrays, and a 24 hour urine test.
Avatar m tn after few months he started having issue with his kidney, which then suspected by the doctor that there could be kidney stones which is causing problem. Doctor prescribed the medicine to break kidney stones and pass them through urine. Now, my friend is having issues with his male reproductive organ, he said, his organ is not properly working, just using it to pass urine, other than that he does not feel anything except the pain in testicles.

Avatar f tn i am used to the pain and can deal with it, what scares me is the kidney pain. normally i dont get kidney pain with the stones. i had to have only one stone removed surgically, it was stuck in the lining of my urethra, total pain on that episode before and after! Does anyone have any knowledge on preventing calcium oxalate stones that i havent tried already? i cant take diuretics because of a sulfa allergy, the potassium citrate does nothing, and i have slowed down on tea and cheese.
Avatar n tn lithrotripsy is a walk in the park ive had 2 of them and have kidney stones since 1995!!
Avatar n tn calcium oxalate stones, struvite stones, uric acid stones or cystine stones. Potassium citrate is used for the treatment of stones. Treatment modes include oral medicines, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithrotripsy (ESWL), uteroscopic stone removal and percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Please discuss these treatment options with your urologist. Also take less calcium and oxalate rich foods and supplements like dairy products, colas, chocolate, peanuts, leafy vegetables, and tea. I hope it helps.
Avatar n tn what is the common treatment for someone that has a history of kidney stones if entering the ER. shouldn't this pt get a stent?
Avatar m tn Hi, The prostate stones are usually asymptomatic and in case they are symptomatic like they produce any pain or are associated with any infection, the only remedy is the surgical removal. There are no medications to get rid of the stones. Please consult a urologist for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Take care.
Avatar n tn These agents aren't known to cause kidney stones. Most kidney stones in the US are caused by our diet which is rich in meat protein. Calcium supplementation does increase the risk of kidney stones. As far as the blood pressure goes, he should probably have his dose of the lisinopril reduced. Alternatively, there are other agents such as calcium channel blockers, beta blockers or Angiotensine receptor blockers that can also be tried. I would probably avoid diuretics at this point.
Avatar m tn 20 mm stone in my right kidney which was removed by lithotripsy and now as per ultrasound report the kidney is clear and now it is two month since the treatment. But after two months still i have now a different pressure like pain at the right side (back side) due to this pressure i always feel anxiety and tiredness. When i walk or move around there is no pressure (pain) but when i sit or lay down the pressure feeling starts.
Avatar n tn Small stones do not need to be treated and will be passed in the urine if you ensure good fluid intake so that it is passed out. Bigger stones will need other forms of treatment like surgery, lithotripsy, shock wave therapy etc.

For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. Treatment can be started only when the diagnosis is confirmed. I sincerely hope that helps.
Avatar n tn My husband has a history of kidney stones (like his father who has suffered with them for over 30 years). This time however, he didn't experience the pain in his side, back or abdomen. Instead he has pain in the tip of his penis. He doesn't believe he has passed the stone yet but has not been straining his urine (strainer is lost - been a while since last stone). Is it possible he passed the stone and the pain is the remnants of this? He is not vomiting nor does he have fever.
Avatar m tn calcium oxalate stones, struvite stones, uric acid stones or cystine stones. Potassium citrate is used for the treatment of stones. I would suggest you to get an evaluation done from a urologist to determine the type of stone. Treatment modes include Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithrotripsy (ESWL), uteroscopic stone removal and percutaneoud nephrolithotomy. For the echogenic mass, further investigations like kidney function tests and CT kidney, urinary bladder should be done.
Avatar f tn That's too bad. Can you be more specific for what you have tried so far? Are you working with a doctor? This article has ways to combat kidney stones. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/kidney-stones/diagnosis-treatment/drc-20355759 A 9mm kidney stone is big and those often don't pass on their own. This article gives some ways to remove it from having it surgically removed to using sound waves to break it up to using a scope to remove it, etc.
Avatar m tn 7 mm needs other methods of kidney stone treatment. I’ll suggest consulting a urologist for the same and seeking treatment depending on the size of the stone. If the size of the stone is small, it’s usually treated with ESWL in which shock waves are given from outside and stone breaks into small pieces. On the other hand, if the stone is quite big, then the surgical removal of the stone is a better option.
Avatar m tn sir , I have three stones in three different parts of my body first is in the gall-bladder {9mm} ,second in right kidney 7mm,third in distal part of left ureter 5mm ,is their any possibilty it can go with medicines or laser treatment ? but not open surgery .
Avatar m tn I am a 37 year old man. I had Kidney stones in 2002 which was treated by the laser treatment. Again this year in 2010, I had the same problem and was again treated by the same method. The analysis of the stone was found to be due to calcium. My job demands that I remain fit all the time due to lack of medical help. I do drink about 2 liters of water per day some times accompanied with lemon.
Avatar f tn I am a 60 yr old female with extensive history of kidney stones since 1978 (before lithotrypsy), recurrent infections & blood in urine. I am prone to both calcium stones & uric acid stones. First kidney stone was size of a walnut & could not pass so was removed by actual surgery. Over the yrs I experienced more stones that would not pass so more surgeries. Have developed scar tissue in both ureters & have had 2 stents. Extreme pain so stent removal.
