kidney-stones

Avatar n tn It does not get rid of the kidney stone. The kidney stone will cause you problems with urinary infections as it moves, or travels down. This is because it scratches as it moves and then when bacteria enters the wounds, infection sets in. You will know when the stone is moving because you will feel discomfort or pain in one or the two kidneys (depends where the stone is). You may also experience what is called renal colic which is wind like pain in your belly.
Avatar f tn HI all -- I am SO glad to have found a forum about MSK -- I started having kidney stones when I was 25 and I have now, at the age of 34, had 30 of them. 4 years ago I was diagnosed with MSK. I'm wondering if anyone knows if running (as exercise) has an adverse affect on sponge kidneys? Someone once told me that the impact from hitting the pavement caused sponge kidneys to bleed easily, but I haven't been able to substantiate it.
Avatar m tn UTI (took the treatment strictly, didn't work); Kidney sand(? - don't know for sure if thats the English term, but you get the idea); the treatment for it helped for a while but still no permanent effect and can't remember what I took either); psychological induced problem (which is only 30% accurate since I also have this problem at home where I don't even bother realizing nor remembering when I go; also have pains).
Avatar f tn now about three months ago i went to the hospital again for pain in my kidneys and was told i had kidney stones and have had them ever since and when i dont my kidneys still hurt and i feel nauseated i went back to my doctor again and asked how often i can get them and all she said was often and sent me for a ct.
Avatar n tn I've been told that everyone should drink a gallon of water every day. That's 128 ounces. This is because kidney stones are on the rise, and believe me, you don't want to experience kidney stones. It's one of the most painful things you can experience. The ER doctors told me that in the summer, when it's hot out and people lose water through perspiration, the number of people who come in to ER with kidney stones increases dramatically, and all because they don't drink enough water.
4522800 tn?1470329434 These times brought on many Heartaches but it was also the time when many bands like Motown music and the Beatles, Rolling stones and so many more brought out the BEST Music ever. Those were the Time that the Hippies, Flower-power, Communes, Woodstock, Martin Luther, Peace, Love and all above came in & SO much more. We (hub & I) come from a small creek/canyon in CA. Everybody knew everybody and the old & young partied together.
Avatar m tn If you have not had an ultrasound scan done of your kidney and urinary tact (including the bladder), it may be a good idea to have that done. You may have kidney stones. Kidney stones can vary in size from as small as a grain of sand. They don't cause any problems until they start to move. Some of the symptoms you mentioned earlier did point to kidney problems and even though there was no urinary infection detected, it does no mean that there is not a problem there.

239164 tn?1207266607 I started taking these drugs for legitimate pain (I have systemic lupus and was having kidney involvement - debilitating joing and muscle pain, recurrent kidney stones). During this period, my father was diagnosed with terminal cancer and I had just moved half way across the U.S. from home. I was, understandably, depressed and found that the pills that I hated to take all of a sudden made me feel "better" emotionally.
Avatar f tn My fiance of 5 yrs is addicted to hydrocodone. He has a history of kidney stones. He was given it by his dr to manage his pain in the begining. He likes the way it makes him feel and now the only way he function is if he has some to take. His mom used to send him her rx of 90 per month for 3 months straight and he would blow right thru them. He now goes from hospital to hospital so that he always has some sort of pain medicine. He has been to about 6 hospitals in our area.
Avatar n tn I have a lot of diffrent illnesses such as fibramalagia arthritis under active thyroid, a degenarative spine, siatica and ibs. I have had kidney stones. I about every 6 weeks i get a severe pain going from back to front of my left rib cage,it hurts when i breath. The last bout i had i could,nt move my left arm as it hurt to do so. Avatar n tn I should add that I got introduced to percs because of kidney stones. I get a stone every few months. Have had kidney stones for about 12 years, but it was only the last 2 years that I started using every day.
Avatar n tn Wow, that kind of scares me. I have had kidney stones twice. Just a week ago and then about 11 years ago. It seems I am missing something that breaks down calcium in the kidney. Nothing life threatening, my Dr. knows and never said anything but now I am worried will tx cause stones as I have read on many threads if you already have an existing problem tx will increase it. Other than the 2 stones I have never had any other kidney issues.
611067 tn?1458595083 I got thru all those bouts of kidney stones and COULD HAVE gotten thru the last time...but I had a weak moment. Not sure if you're religious...I myself am Christian but NEVER push religion/God/prayer on anyone...however, that has helped me tremendously, so just another suggesstion, but I'm in no way pushing religion on ya! Good luck, and again.....CONGRATS on getting thru yesterday and so far today!!!
233616 tn?1312790796 Cola beverages have been associated with kidney changes that promote kidney stones, which may be a result of the phosphoric acid in colas. My advise is moderation for everything.
1349676 tn?1277916049 I also have legitimate pain issues (I get kidney-stones like you wouldn't believe), but because I am an addict, I cannot be in control of my own medication. If you are in control of administering your own medication, you will end up short every time. Not because of tolerance mind you, but because you are an addict. I'm brutally honest, if nothing else. Love me or hate me, I really thought this place was for being honest, not for coddling.
Avatar m tn Dermatologic symptoms include dermatitis, alopecia, and achromotrichia (absence or loss of pigment in the hair. Perosis (a shortening and thickening of bones) is seen in the skeleton. FLKS (fatty liver and kidney syndrome) and hepatic steatosis also can occur.” H-pylori: β€œIt causes a chronic low-level inflammation of the stomach lining and is strongly linked to the development of duodenal and gastric ulcers and stomach cancer.” However this is just the reading of the report.
Avatar n tn Someone said they thought distilled water can cause kidney stones. They were wrong. Hard water is the cause of kidney stones and cataracts and distilled water is the cure. My cousin had cataracts at 50 yr of age because he only drank tap water because some bimbo told him distilled water was bad for him. He had to have cataracts removed from both eyes at 50 because he was so blind he could not see the the biggest letter on the eye chart.
Avatar m tn It did make me feel good. Bailey may have kidney stones AGAIN. He's on medication for a urinary infection so it might be that but he almost DIED last time from the urine backing up (we had no idea of course he had the stones)...he's only going to be 3 it's like why why why does he think the more things I get he has to as well? Oh maybe so he can snuggle me. Makes me so sad. And what's up with you???????????????????????????????????????
Avatar f tn sooo many people take this while pregnant (and I understand everyone is diffrent) but think about it if it wasn't safe what kind of extream pain would a women with kidney stones or who was in an accident or who had arthrisits go through and like they said it's about moderation. Just because maybe most of you didn't have pain (lucky) doesn't mean not everyone is just happy and can deal with it..now that I talked to y dr.

Avatar n tn Im 29 now but when it first started i used to drink quite a lot - rum coke, jd coke etc. I figured my liver was on its way out so i stopped drinking for 6 months and the pain subdued. Then all of a sudden it came back..i had an ultrasiund which showed normal liver and gall bladder. I figured it might be ibs so started watching my diet more to see if anything was causing it. Things ive found - caffiene definately brings it on. If i drink coffee at work i get the paid later that day.
Avatar n tn I had my left kidney removed in 1997. I had sufferred from Kidney stones for years and often thought it was my kidney. As I got older and more familiar with my body i knew and the doctors knew it had nothing to do with my kidney. My Gallbladder has been checked and I have had numerous tests. At this point I just deal with it. Except today I decided to look once again on my own to see if i found anything new.
Avatar m tn Beside stones, there may be a "biliary sludge" in the gb, which is a kind of pre-stones bile - stones will eventually develop from it. Ultrasound often can't detect this sludge. CT is much better for detecting sludge, but even this is not entirely reliable. HIDA is most reliable, but it actually doesn't show stones, but only gb function. So, it is possible that someone have lowered gb function due to stress or "unknown reason".
Avatar n tn Mine was diagnosed as fibromyalgia, with s-1 thru l5 degenerative disc disease and also had 2 kidney stones. I am going to have lithotripsy done on the 15th. I also have titanium in my back now. still having the same pains though!! Mine r not stopping thru the day sometimes til early morning then stopping. Tests after test show nothing else! We need a qualified Dr. not someone to come in for 5 mins and give out candy meds to cover this!!
29837 tn?1414538248 I was treated in Las Vegas for 14 years by a doctor who treated me through all my treatment nightmares and was instrumental in warning me when to get on the transplant list when I was near death. I am still in touch with him, as he wants to know my progress. A couple of weeks ago, I saw my transplant doctor at UCLA Medical Center in L.A. and asked if I could have a glass of wine with dinner. He said "no".
Avatar n tn I have been to a GYN, Urologists, primary care physicians, you name it I have seen them. I have had kidney stones removed, laproscopic surgery (nothing abnormal) and a cystopy (spelling). I was actually hoping that the Lap would indicate that they had found something wrong so they could fix it. My GYN seems to think our next step is to remove the uterus, I just don't see how this can help.
1035252 tn?1427231433 THank you Sudie and Sara - you guys are a great part of my cheerleading team! Vicki - your righteous indignation on my part warms my heart....hehe. I'm doing alright. I started the taper today...I know we can't do specifics but I am taking a slightly smaller amount (I have a pill cutter) a slightly longer time apart. I'm going to take 1/4 of a .
Avatar n tn Lately his kidneys have starting hurting him again and he has been passing kidney stones at least twice a month for the past couple of months. When he starts hurting, his first solution is to get some pills off the street...oxycontin, perkiset, vicodin, anything to help the pain. It has gotten to where he needs the pills to kill the pain every week. When he starts hurting he also tends to have cold sweats with out the medication. Are these signs of addiction? Or what would you think?
