Avatar n tn I can sympathize! I got kidney stones while pregnant too! It was terrible. I though I was having a tubal pregnancy or something. I never dreamed being a 25 year old female, I was having a kidney stone! I finally passed it or get it settled after several days of hurting and had no other problems while pregnant. I got another one though after my baby was around 6 months old and it was terrible again!
Avatar f tn It's been three weeks since my diagnosis of having multiple kidney stones on the right side. The Radiologist who gave me my stat results said I would pass them and didnt think straining my urine was something I needed to do. I finally got in to see my urologist he was upset I wasn't straining and wanted me to have surgery since I will be undergoing IVF treatments in March. I agreed because I don't want to deal with flare up while pregnant.
Avatar m tn Hello, Since the kindey stone is 7 mm, so the symptoms seem unrelated to the kidney stones. Since you are having pedal or leg edema, hence your cardiac, liver and kidney functions need to be assessed for which I suggest you to consult a physician immediately. Abdominal causes like irritable bowel syndrome can also cause such symptoms. Common symptoms include abdominal cramping or pain, bloating and gassiness, and altered bowel habits(alternate constipation and loose stools).
409451 tn?1206900232 I've also been bloated for about 2 months. (Also, my dad has aweful kidney stones) I was referred to urologist, he thinks it's endo, ordered ct scan, but I haven't had it yet...does anyone have any suggestions or similar issues, I'm feeling really lost and confused!!??
Avatar n tn We know that its kidney stone because her doctor did a x ray and urine test positive as a kidney stone. Once in a while she fells pain and we just found out she is pregnant. I want to know how will the stone affect her and the pregnancy?
Avatar n tn I'm 22 years old, and have suffered with kidney stones for 2 years, ranging from 1 mm to one thats in me right now which is over 10mm! On two separate occasions, when being seen in the ER while in ridiculous amounts of pain, I have been told by doctors that I shouldn't be in pain because there is no obstructing stone. Bull, I say. Renal Colic is a very distinct type of pain, and believe me, there is no mistaking it. I had one doctor go so far as to tell me it must be muscular back pain..
Avatar f tn As long as you are open and honest with your OB about your medicine, you will not be in trouble. I had to take pain meds during both pregnancies ( i had kidney stones with my daughter and ended up having surgery at 34wks, and with my sonI had a weird neurological reaction to the pregnancy that ended up with me blind and numb in parts of my body but with horrific headaches). both of my children were both VERY healthy and without any sort of withdrawal/addiction issues.
Avatar n tn I had to take pain medicine during both pregnancies (for headaches and then later kidney stones with my daughter and for headaches and a lower back injury while pregnant with my son)....my OB prescribed the meds in both cases, they did extra ultrasounds, monitored my dose and health, and both of my children were both healthy, happy, and full-term. my daughter is about to turn 2-years-old and she can speak in 6-word sentences, and is tall and active for her age....
Avatar n tn I have had a problem controlling myself when it comes to prescription pain pills for years. I was clean for quite a while, but ironically when I called my neurologist (I have terrible chronic headaches) to tell him I'm pregnant, he told me to stop taking all my meds and that he would call something in that I could take while pregnant. Well, the "something" he called in was 90 vicodin with 4 refills!
Avatar f tn I've been having a lot of pain on my right side, front, back and side and the pain takes my breath away. I had CT scans and ultra sound to determine if I had kidney stones. Then they sent me for x-rays with contrast and I was told I had a floating Kidney. The nurse for his office said there was nothing that I could do for the pain. "Just deal with it". Wow how can I when the pain takes my breath away and the pain is so bad that I have to lay down in bed until it goes away.
Avatar f tn All ranging from 2-3mm, and all non obstructive. At that time I had not further symptoms. This past October while I was pregnant I developed the urinary frequency for a week . Placed on antibiotics with no relief. I then developed acute right flank pain, same side and feeling as in the past. I was admitted and given pain meds and iv fluids. Not once have I ever passed a stone that I am aware of. After having my daughter, about a week later I began to experience urinary frequency again.
Avatar f tn What hurts or bothers us doesn't often do anything to baby. Many women get kidney stones while pregnant, some even have surgery for them during pregnancy. Are you have an MRI done or ultrasound?
Avatar f tn yeah, UTIs and kidney infections can be extremely harmful while pregnant. I'd go just in case, even if they told you it was something else. You'd at least have that piece of mind and get it taken care of if it is a kidney infection.
Avatar n tn I had several kidney stones and hydronephrosis while pregnant (mostly due to improper or inability of the kidney to drain), but at that time my nephroptosis hadn't been diagnosed. If you have a good doctor (OB/GYN and Urologist) you should have minimal issues during pregnancy. If the docs are watching you closely this should avoid serious complication. Good luck!
Avatar f tn It took doctors a little while to figure out the cause, I have a duplex kidney system on the right with double ureters. They told my mom I have one ureter inside the other which is apparently very rare. They didn't give my mom very much information, whether I had and reflux or any other concerns other than telling her I have a lot of scar tissue from the infections. I was on antibiotics for a long time, I don't remember how long because I was young.
Avatar f tn I thought this was all part of being almost 36 weeks pregnant... Until I passed three kidney stones this weekend. The symptoms are different while pregnant due to all organs being shifted. I'm a nurse and had kidney stones last year not pregnant then. I never would have thought this was the issue....so ladies just be aware that pains and tiredness isnt always related to pregnancy.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had an uti or kidney infection while pregnant? I'm having cramps on the right side of my uterus and a burning/Sharp pain on my right side of my back. it's very painful so called my ob's nurse. I had to do a u.a. I'm patiently waiting for the results. Is there anything I can do to relieve the pain?
Avatar f tn I am 24, a mother of one, pregnant with number 2, and I currently have 7 stones in my left kidney, and 5 in my right (and it could be more, those were just the ones they could see with an ultrasound, because I obviously cant have a CT or anything better) I also have had chronic pain since 2004 when I had my first stone.
Avatar f tn I have been lucky most have not been kidney infections. But from what I understand -- the stones are so porous that the bacteria easily is trapped in them. I wonder if the calcification works the same way ? Anybody know? Also I believe that we always have some type of stone activity going on but not all shows up on tests, leaving us wide open for infection. Just my two cents.
Avatar f tn Cold like symptoms? etc? If it is kidney stones any explanation to why the pain is only so bad at night and just dull aches off and on during the day? Would kidney stones have shown up on the MRI?
470425 tn?1246926200 In the last two years, I have had five kidney infections, one of which I was hospitalized. I was pregnant that time. It seems like my infections are getting closer together, and I am getting them more often. Are there any diseases that could possible have those symptoms. Do you think this is more of a Urinary problem, or is there possbily something wrong with my kidneys? I am very worried, and I appreciate any help you can give.
Avatar f tn But all test would come back negative with no bacteria! After I had my son the symptoms went away for a few years until I got pregnant with my second son then the symptoms returned and stayed for my whole pregnancy again! After I had my youngest son the symptoms went away for a short while and then returned! I've now had this reacuring problem every month for the last 2 and half years!
Avatar f tn I do have a dr appt this week but they don't like to touch us pregnant people regarding kidney stone issues. I just really don't want to deal a this stone for another 2 1/2 months till baby.
Avatar f tn As you are complaining of discomfort in the kidney area for a couple of months and have to urinate more often and feel that you haven't emptied your bladder, could be a sign of a Urinary Tract Infection. If you have kidney stones moving - they can take months to come down if they are moving; you would experience pain in the kidney area, or have renal colic (like wind pains in the belly). As they come down they can scratch and aggravate the tubes and hence cause infections.
Avatar n tn Although I joined MedHelp in 2008 I have not been active in this community until recently. As I read these SX some leap out to me as possible kidney stones, others seem to be spine related - or some may be a kidney dysfunction/disease. Another thought that comes to my mind is SIJ (Sacroiliac Joint) or SIJD (Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction).
481119 tn?1208276891 Hi, my father always complain about the pain in his lower back and we dont know whats the cause of it. He had his Ultrasound yesterday to see if theres a problem inside his body. The result shows that he has a "simple cortical cyst in his right kidney". Now I dont know what does it means?? Whats the cause of it and what are the treatments need to be done??
Avatar f tn I had 4 kidney stones and chronic UTI's while I was pregnant with my daughter and the symptoms were similar to what you described, but my daughter also used to plant her feet in my kidneys and cause excruciating pain. When do you go to get monitored again? Ask them to do an ultrasound of your kidneys if you want, and they'll be able to see for sure if you're suffering from an enlarged (infected) kidney by u/s.
