Avatar n tn Other possibilities are irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis(inflammation of the liver), kidney stones, pneumonia, musculoskeletal pain, lower rib fracture and malignancy. Irritation of the nerves supplying this area can also cause pain. Irritation can be due to nerve compression or pinching due to any spine related pathology. In females, ovarian pathology can cause such symptoms. You should get an ultrasound right upper abdominal area done to confirm the diagnosis.
Avatar f tn It's been three weeks since my diagnosis of having multiple kidney stones on the right side. The Radiologist who gave me my stat results said I would pass them and didnt think straining my urine was something I needed to do. I finally got in to see my urologist he was upset I wasn't straining and wanted me to have surgery since I will be undergoing IVF treatments in March. I agreed because I don't want to deal with flare up while pregnant.
Avatar f tn t see any stones but they could have been vry small and in my ureter{not sure of spelling} he also said he saw some diverticulitis in my colon and to make appointment with family doctor. He rleased me with official diagnosis of kidney stones, motrin for pain.My family doctor isn't in for another 6 days,he's away. All week the pain in my abdomen has gotten increasingly worse,it hurts from the top of my ribcage all the way down.
Avatar f tn s easier to pass them when you are pregnant because the eariter opens wider so alot of women when they are pregnant have there first stones. Did you have one or are you hyaving one?
Avatar f tn Had anyone had kidney stones? This is my 3rd child I'm 12+1 weeks.I'm healthy.but in the last 2 weeks I have had 4 kidney stones(on top of being really sick with"morning sickness"). Avatar f tn I am new to kidney stones. I passed my first kidney stone about 2 months ago and I know I have two more. A 2mm on one side and a 4 on the other side. The first one I had happened at night, so I woke up in pain. I am just wondering is there symptoms you can feel when you are awake. Just 4 days ago, I had 4 very sharp pains in the right side my back over a 2 hour period. Today I am hit with a wave of nausea.
Avatar m tn The symptoms that you are describing are basically those of a person with a 5 mm kidney stone. I've had many stones over the years and those are the symptoms that I have every time with smaller and larger stones, with the possible exception of a POSSIBLE bladder wall thickening and that certainly not a definite. Don't worry yourself to death about anything until you have this additional test done.
18533109 tn?1465640552 Get It but ,Usually, an imaging test and an analysis of urine are done to diagnose stones. Tiny stones may cause no symptoms, but larger stones can cause pain in the area between the ribs and hips in the back. Sometimes stone formation can be prevented by changing the diet or increasing fluid intake.
Avatar m tn The simple and quickest answer I can give you after years of having stones and numerous stones in all those years is...YES. As a matter of fact, I just experienced somewhat of the same thing earlier this year. As it turned out I had 3 different stones at the same time while expereiencing the discolored urine. I did however have a great deal of pain that was on and off for several months due to a misdiagnosis of "no stones" from first cat scan.
Avatar f tn I am having a lithroscopy to break up kidney stones a stent may have to be put in place in order that the stones can pass. I have read and heard how uncomfortable this can be and are there other options to having a stent put in place.
Avatar m tn Hello, Since the kindey stone is 7 mm, so the symptoms seem unrelated to the kidney stones. Since you are having pedal or leg edema, hence your cardiac, liver and kidney functions need to be assessed for which I suggest you to consult a physician immediately. Abdominal causes like irritable bowel syndrome can also cause such symptoms. Common symptoms include abdominal cramping or pain, bloating and gassiness, and altered bowel habits(alternate constipation and loose stools).
Avatar f tn He has theorized that I’m making stones because of infection in the kidney (I have a history of chronic UTI’s, but all of my cultures in the last year have come back negative), a condition like RTA, or my kidneys began hyperfiltrating due to pregnancy. Do these causes sound reasonable? What other tests should I be asking for? How unusual is it for the stones to be in this meaty part of my kidney and since they are still in my kidney aren’t they just going to continue to grow larger?
Avatar f tn Hyperparathyroidism is the number one cause of kidney stones. Every person with a kidney stone should be tested for a problem with their parathyroid glands. Nearly half of all people with kidney stones have a parathyroid tumor in their neck that must be removed or the kidney stones will return.
Avatar f tn The folks that do have symptoms include flu-like symptoms, jaundice (yellowing of the skin/eyes), nausea, pale colored stools, etc. Wikipedia lists these symptoms for acute HCV: “Symptoms of acute hepatitis C infection include decreased appetite, fatigue, abdominal pain, jaundice, itching, and flu-like symptoms.” http://en.wikipedia.

200198 tn?1259887597 they got worse until I ended up with a kidney stone at 24wks, and then 3 more at 33-35wks. Kidney stones are actually not all that rare for pregnant women, especially if you have a higher blood volume than most pregnant women (i.e. twins :) ) because your kidneys are being so overtaxed...apparently mine was caused by an extra large placenta, so I was pumping nearly double the blood and it affected my kidneys...Drink Lots and lots of water....
Avatar f tn The treatment of renal stones would need surgery or lithotripsy based on the size of the stone. Smaller sized stones are preferably treated with lithotripsy. Drink plenty of fluied that would help in the flushing out of the stones. Take care.
Avatar f tn Medullary sponge kidney disease may be asymptomatic in most people .Few people may have a UTI or kidney stone. UTIs and kidney stones share many of the same symptoms.MSK is suspected in patients with repeated UTIs or kidney stones. An x ray called an intravenous pyelogram can help confirm the diagnosis. No treatment can get rid of cysts in the affected kidneys.

409451 tn?1206896632 I have been having increasingly worse periods the last year (ever since I had my daughter), but especially the last 3-6 months. Then noticed I was extremely tired, have almost constant lower back pain, and had off and on abdominal pain some extremely sharp-took my breathe away (during period) others just random off and on pain. Also noticed a swollen gland in groin that's been there almost 2 months (no pain there).
