Avatar m tn As far as I know, these are the only treatments - "Watchful waiting About 85 percent of the time, kidney stones are small enough to pass during urination. This occurs usually within 72 hours of the start of symptoms. The best treatment for these small stones is to drink plenty of water (as much as 2 to 3 quarts per day), stay physically active and wait to pass the stone.
Avatar f tn I have 2 stones in my pancreas. 4 years ago they misdiagnosed as a 2 cm Kidney stone. 2 years ago, they said it was a 4 cm pancreatic stone (or close to it) 5 months ago, they FINALLY took my word and did a amylase/liapase and it the amylase was up 10x normal level. Scans said a 8 cm stone. Now we are going down to Mayo Clinic. 2 months ago, EUS said 2 stones almost stuck together 6 cm in front in the head/neck region of pancreas. After 1 hr. 45 min.
Avatar f tn I am a poor water drinker which contributes to the formation of most kidney stones. I suggest that you have your stones analysed if you have not done that. I was told by 2 urologists that there is nothing that I can take or do that will change my situation. Both urologist told me the same as what yours said, my chronic back pain was not related to kidney stones. They were correct and I was diagnosed with other issues that was the cause of most of my chronic low back pain.
Avatar f tn I know how you feel, although I haven't had spasms everyday, I have experienced them on occasion. It is worse than kidney stones. Undescribible pain!! It could be a number of things. Your kidney could be floating, you could have hydronephrosis, your renal artery could be obstructed and the blood supply is cut off intermittantly, and of coarse the old kidney stone is a possiblity. You really need some test done to see what is going on. I know how hard it is to find a good urologist.
Avatar n tn I was not having any symptoms while at Mayo. I live in a rural area so the doctors here are not the greatest. Any ideas or suggestions.
Avatar f tn Looking for possible stones and see if they were working correctly. Right kidney slightly enlarged working at 40%, but told no sign of stones and maybe she was eating too many carbs and not enough fiber. In addition, plenty of people have worse kidney function and don’t feel pain, so the pain is not her kidney…And since blood pressure is low kidneys are probably not the problem. (I know she is not a high carb eater…but took it anyway.
Avatar m tn The best thing to do is find a different doctor Assess your personal history for trauma Assess your family history for allergies, diabetes, cancer Start a food diary to see whether certain things make it worse Get your blood sugar checked for diabetes Get a ultrasound for a Urinary stricture, enlarged prostate or kidney stones Id just like to add that since youre 20 years old, alcohol and caffeine can irritate the bladder or ureter lining In the meantime, try Ural sachets.
Avatar m tn People I know what I am talking about I have had kidney stones/kidney disease since 1965. Your doctor is wrong most kidney stones can be treated: the goal is to stop or slow down the formation of them. This is accomplished through metabolic testing... which many be done by a nephrologist in some parts of the US. Once it is determined what is causing the stones to form and the composition of them..
Avatar n tn If you didn't have the spine imaged, you should talk to your doc as MS can show up there too. Hypothyroidism can certainly be a cause of your symptoms. Once treated adequately, your symptoms may improve. Another test that may be helpful is an EMG to see if this a problem of your peripheral nerves. Laboratory workup such as ANA, sed rate, blood count and electrolye profile can also help rule out other potential problems such as lupus and other rheumatological disorders.
661200 tn?1225486613 Even worse, there isn't a darn thing to do for kidney failure other than treat the symptoms as best you can. Once kidney cells are destroyed, they cannot regenerate like other organs such as the liver can. When kidney failure reaches the last stages, you will notice a marked increase in nausea and vomiting and probably urinary accidents as well. The nausea is from the toxins remaining in the bloodstream that the kidneys can no longer filter out.
Avatar f tn I have 2 pains in the front directly under my rib cage about 2-3 inches down from my sternum. CT scan revealed 9 kidney stones all. 7 are 2mm and 2 are 1mm. I'm 5. Ft tall 109 lbs. the only experience I ever had with kidney stones was when I was pregnant. Passed a lot of blood then nothing, little cramping in low back and it was over. This pain has sent me to the ER twice. I was vomiting a lot back in June and lost 16 lbs so they took my gall bladder out.
Avatar m tn Factors that can cause urinary blood (hematuria) include urinary tract infections, enlarged prostate, cancerous and noncancerous tumors, kidney cysts, long-distance running, and kidney or bladder stones. Foods. Beets, blackberries and rhubarb can turn urine red or pink. Medications.
Avatar f tn ekg, event monitor, halter monitor, chest xrays, alot of blood tests, urine tests... I also have kidney stones all the time, vitamin d deficiency, Urine tests show + metanephrines and + catecholamines but a CT scan was negative so he doesn't want to "jump to a diagnoses of pheochromocytoma" because its rare.I have done different doses or propanalol and labetolol none of which have reduce blood pressure or helped the tachycardia...
389797 tn?1200693362 Constant nagging abdominal pain ULQ whether I eat or don't, I also have anxiety, sweats (no fever), tremors, and lower back pain. Symptoms were occasional at first but are now almost daily. I wake up in a sweat (which seems different from a hot flash) and fell sick until I have a stool. First stool may be semi-solid, about an hour after eating throughout the day, stools are watery and yellow. I force myself to eat as I have NO appetite.
1216899 tn?1288573925 With all the sites out there that have info on Vitamin D, their just doesn't seem to be one that has all the symptoms that can accompany vitamin d deficiency. I'm going to list my symptoms, so that others may have some insight, in layman's terms. I hope anyone else with the deficiency would also post theirs.
Avatar n tn I have been to a GYN, Urologists, primary care physicians, you name it I have seen them. I have had kidney stones removed, laproscopic surgery (nothing abnormal) and a cystopy (spelling). I was actually hoping that the Lap would indicate that they had found something wrong so they could fix it. My GYN seems to think our next step is to remove the uterus, I just don't see how this can help.
758424 tn?1234032069 I have had multiple ultrasounds, multiple abdomon MRI's, no gallstones, no kidney stones, not pregnant, have had 2 full colonoscopies, and a stomach scope. Avatar f tn I have been suffering with headache 24 hours a day, fatigue, multiple kidney stones, hypertension, that all started 2 years ago. The kidney stones I have had 7 total, 3 in the last 1.5 years. I have PTH of 146, Vitamin D of 25 and Calcium of 9.2. 3 endo's in my area say that it is in no way, shape, or form hyperparathyroidism but went to Mayo and the doctor says maybe but wants more proof. They also tell me that my symptoms can not be caused by it because my calcium is normal.
Avatar f tn Things were fine for abt 10 days, then nausea, terrible lower GI cramps and watery green diarrhea began. The next day, the flank pain recurred, and although just like previous kidney stones, the pain was VERY intermittent. This is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from prior attacks. Finally, I went to the ER for pain mgmnt. CT showed NO STONES. Normal CBC. No fever. They sent me home, still groggy from morphine, 2 nites ago, saying "there's nothing seriously wrong.
Avatar f tn All pretty minor annoyances in retrospect to many conditions..ovarian cysts, gallstones,,kidney stones, kidney infections, gastrointestinal issues, About 2 years ago, I began having crazy bad pain in my right side. I was hospitalized because my right kidney was swollen and a couple of stones. They found that there was a section of my ureter tube that was fused together, or dead or something, causing a kink in the ureter..had an exploratory to find the cause of the kink.
Avatar m tn At the same web address, there is a menu that will take you to the symptoms and treatments, too. The Mayo Clinic is a respected hospital that has many branches throughout the United States, but if you contact them via their website or by telephoning, they may be able to refer you to a hospital in the Ukraine or Europe that you could perhaps visit and get quality treatment.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with MSK six years ago. I am 38. At first it was just the kidney stones but about three years ago, I started having chronic right flank pain (which of course they say is only possible if i am passing a stone except i never seem to pass it because it doesnt peak and go away). I didn't start having infections until about a year ago, which I haven't been able to get rid of, despite long periods of antibiotic therapy ( thinking its time to go on continuous antibiotics).

Avatar n tn The calcium is high and the most common cause is primary hyperparathyroidism - it could cause some of these symptoms and also lead to kidney stones and bone loss. Best to have an endocrine check for hyperparathyroidism. This is not thought to be autoimmune, while hypoparathyroid (the opposite problem) could be. Not sure about autonomic system causing parathyroid problems.
Avatar n tn The raised area is about as big as baseball. 3-4 on pain scale.36 year old man, 7-8 years ago i passed kidney stones, but none of the pain is the same.
