Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
7019649 tn?1396796117 I'm on my last day of antibiotics, and they didn't clear up my symptoms. I have a history of kidney stones, and I'm afraid that's what is going on again. Anybody have any experiences with kidney stones during pregnancy? What did you do for them?
Avatar n tn but i sit here , on the toilet typing this , as for the last two days i have had horrific cramps and diahorra (sp) . Its heart warming to know that all my symptoms are of those relating to kidney stones .
Monkey I week ago I developurethratoms of what I thought was a UTI, just like in the past,I immediately started taking Azo and drinking cranberry juice, which using works or at least decreases the pain.
Avatar m tn my family lives by cranberry juice because we have such a bad history of kidney stones, and i really do believe it helps. but eat for optimum health, keep your body active, drink a LOT of fluids.. doing these things should help you get though, and may even improve your symptoms.. you never know..
Avatar n tn I have dealt with kidney stones for many years now some I've had to have surgery for others just had to deal with pain for weeks waiting for them to pass. I know that I have 5 dormant ones on my right side and 4 on my left side right now. They keep referring to them as dormant anyhow. I have been having some very bad days pain wise and having issues with being able to urinate much regardless of how much water I drink (I pretty much only drink water every day and my intake is high).
Avatar n tn Hello: Question about a kidney stone....I am 35 with a history of uric acid stones. Most have passed uneventfully without medical intervention. Pain is usually rather mild. As of 1 week ago I began passing a kidney stone. Syptoms stopped after 2-3 days, but I never noticed the stone pass. I have absolutely no symptoms now, no sign of infection. Just wondering if the stone could have passed, disolved or may be obstructive. Would I have any symptoms with a ureter obstruction?
Avatar m tn It was found that my stone was calcium based and I was told to avoid all dairy products as well as some fruit and veg. There are 4 different types of kidney stones. Unfortunately, once you have had kidney stones the chances of getting another one are much higher.
Avatar f tn A typical day's diet includes egg, onion, garlic, olive oil, salt, squash, cooked carrots, spinach, chicken or fish, lime juice in water, and unsweetened cranberry juice in water. You'd be surprised how many different ways you put those bits and pieces together. Ha. It worked for me, however, and I no longer crave sugar like I once did. I've dropped a good bit of weight (which I needed to do) and feel pretty good except when the Lyme bugs are bugging me.
Avatar m tn ive been drinking lots of cranberry juice and its helped to ease the pain of urination but still hurts when i've just finished urinating. Do I have kidney stones or a kidney infection or just a simple UTI? This discussion is related to Dull pain in right side and back.
Avatar f tn Yhe best thing u can do at this point is to drink tons of water. Also, ive found that drinking pure cranberry juice(not cocktail, only 100% cranberry) helps a lot and sometimes eliminates symptoms all together. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I also have kidney stones, I am looking to learn more about what kind of diet or foods are good and bad for the kidneys. I would like to eat healthier and avoid the foods that are not good for my kidneys. Does anyone know of a website or have information that could help me out. So far all I know is drink a lot of water, and spinach is not good for the kidneys... Thanks everyone!

Avatar n tn Also, stones present before the the bladder (in kidney and in promimal ureter) has less chance of expulsion than stones present in urethra or at the junction of bladder and urethra. Medications, such as a combination of tamsulosin and a corticosteroid are often given to help expel the stone. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Along with it you need to take plenty of fluids, cranberry juice, apple cider etc.
470425 tn?1246926200 I had surgery in 05, I had gallstones. If you have had gallstones, is there a greater risk of having kidney stones? Or vice versa?
Avatar n tn Drink plenty of fluids, try apple cider and cranberry juice. These tips may help to flush out small stones. Depending on the stone you have, you will need to avoid certain food items. For oxalate stones you need to restrict (not totally stop) foods which are high in oxalate like beans, legumes, dark green leaves, egg plant, spinach, beets, chocolates and fruit cake. Avoid Vitamin C as its metabolism produces oxalates in the body.
136986 tn?1232403430 I drank a lot today, I had 4 bowls of soup, lots of cranberry juice, well lots of liquids. And I haven't gone to the bathroom yet and its going on 8:00 p.m. And when I do try to go, my side hurts really bad, barely anything comes out. Even when I just go to sit down my side pulls. A long time ago my urine was very cloudy, and my bladder would hurt when I went to the bathroom. But that was a few weeks ago. Could it have been a bladder infection and its now a kidney infection?
284738 tn?1283110419 If you are having blood in your urine, I would talk to the doctor and see if they can do a UA to see if you have a kidney infection!! Cranberry juice will help to prevent bladder infections but not get rid of them. The acid in Blueberries will help to alleviate symptoms of a bladder infections, but neither will help a kidney stone! I would definately talk to the doctor again to let him know of the blood in your urine!
Avatar n tn I would suggest that you go ahead and consult your urologist who can perform an evaluation and order therapy like tamsulosin (which is an alpha blocker) and order investigations like a computerised tomography (CT) urogram which would provide vital clues to your ailment and its treatment. Till then, I would suggest that you drink plenty of cranberry juice which has been shown to fight urinary tract infections. I hope I have answered your query.
Avatar f tn Well, I have not had any issues or symptoms since I passed the last 2 stones and right now, for about the last week and a half, almost 2 weeks, my BF started having those same symptoms as before only this time, he went out and got Cranberry juice and has been adding a glass of it to his liquids daily. He says every day seems to get a little better, but he is still having the symptoms. Now, I need to add in here also...
Avatar n tn Last year EWSL was attempted 3X to remove small, stubborn stones in my right kidney. Stones were not blocking the ureter but were causing pain for months. After 3rd attempt at EWSL it was decided to try laser treatment cystoscopically. This was "partially" successful. Some of the stones were removed, some he was not able to reach. I was left with a stint which came out before I made it home from the hospital.
Avatar m tn Im not sure if your have them where you are but you get them from chemists and theyre to relieve symptoms or urinary discomfort. Also up your cranberry juice intake and monitor your water intake :) I hope this helps!
Avatar m tn I have been drinking plenty of water and added cranberry juice into my diet to see whether I could clear this up myself. No luck so far. I appreciate any responses. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I have an 18-year history with kidney stones with about 2 dozen episodes. The symptoms did not match the typical kidney stones, so I thought it was an infection that anti-biotics would cure. Still I drank lots of water trying to flush the system. My stream was getting gradually getting weaker with each urination. Finally, just after midnight, the stream was at a trickle, I could not sit there all night, so I gave a good push. Like a champagne cork, 2 stones shot out.
Avatar f tn I stayed up all night and drank gallons of water as well as several Acphildous probitoic pills, cranberry pills, cranberry juice, etc. The next day symptoms were gone. That was last week. This past Saturday night, I had a very very sudden onset of flank pain, burning/frequent urination. Again, I took 1,000mg ofAcphildous probitoic pills, cranberry pills, AZO Maximum strength urinary relief (6 pills in 24 hours) and was up all night sleeping next to the toilet.
Avatar m tn Cranberry juice is known to help if you have a bladder infection (Cystitis). I have not heard of cranberry juice helping to dissolve or get rid of stones. I would suggest that you stop drinking the cranberry juice and stick to plain water. Some time ago on the kidney stone forum someone did mention drinking lemon juice to help dissolve the stones.
Avatar m tn Since the onset of these symptoms, I have been drinking as much water as I can to flush my system. I have also been drinking cranberry juice, and I have been taking pro-biotic pills. This has helped, but the problems have not completely gone away. I suspect that this may be a kidney or bladder infection. The other possibility is that I have chlamydia from what I have read online. I have had a few partners since I last got tested, so it is possible that one of them passed something along.
326590 tn?1296066049 Could be kidney stones...I've also seen where a urine test came back neg for an infection because people drink to much water before they give their sample and its too diluted.
Avatar n tn The next day follow with cranberry juice one 6 oz glass, then 2 6 oz glasses of water. Alternate cranberry juice and water every 2 hours.
