Avatar f tn It's been three weeks since my diagnosis of having multiple kidney stones on the right side. The Radiologist who gave me my stat results said I would pass them and didnt think straining my urine was something I needed to do. I finally got in to see my urologist he was upset I wasn't straining and wanted me to have surgery since I will be undergoing IVF treatments in March. I agreed because I don't want to deal with flare up while pregnant.
Avatar f tn She was very sick just over a week before she was diagnosed, and they don't know if she was sick from the kidney stones,or if she had the stomach flu,and getting dehydrated caused the kidney stones. However she never really got too "dehydrated" when she was so sick. She did vomit alot, but was still having plenty of urine. So who knows. Any experience on how long these things take to pass? Thanks again.
409451 tn?1206900232 I've also been bloated for about 2 months. (Also, my dad has aweful kidney stones) I was referred to urologist, he thinks it's endo, ordered ct scan, but I haven't had it yet...does anyone have any suggestions or similar issues, I'm feeling really lost and confused!!??
Avatar f tn One thing to consider it that in your case the large quick forming stones are a symptoms of an active infective stones. I believe and research supports that for many a biofilm infection actually set up with in the calcifications. Stones cause infection and infection cause stones. It is a vicous cycle. The key is getting the bacteria basically controlled. We can never kill it but by controlling it you can prevent new stone formation.
Avatar m tn It was found that my stone was calcium based and I was told to avoid all dairy products as well as some fruit and veg. There are 4 different types of kidney stones. Unfortunately, once you have had kidney stones the chances of getting another one are much higher.
Avatar f tn I am a poor water drinker which contributes to the formation of most kidney stones. I suggest that you have your stones analysed if you have not done that. I was told by 2 urologists that there is nothing that I can take or do that will change my situation. Both urologist told me the same as what yours said, my chronic back pain was not related to kidney stones. They were correct and I was diagnosed with other issues that was the cause of most of my chronic low back pain.
635114 tn?1222710503 The ER doctor then did a cat scan to search for kidney stones. He found no kidney stones but did say my atrophic kidney is completely shrived and did not think it was functioning. According to llab results my gfr has decreased by 10% in a year's time. As soon as they did not see infection or kidney stones I was quickly booted out. I reviewed my urinalysis and blood work results when I got home. My ph is 6 and chloride is high at 107.
Avatar f tn Hi, Hematuria or blood in the urine can be due to many conditions. such as trauma, stones, infections, viral infections, nonspecific inflammations of the kidney or obstructions of the urinary tract. The evaluation of hematuria requires that examining the entire urinary tract including the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. Management of blood in urine depends upon the underlying cause. It is good that your cytoscopy showed normal results.
Avatar f tn Ileocecal Valve Syndrome, has to be investigated thoroughly, as I think that is the main cause of your girl's issues. All her symptoms are TYPICAL of IVS, including the kidney issues. You see toxicity is normally handled by the liver, but with food rotting in the small intestine because of IVS with the ileocecal valve being closed most of the time, the build up of toxins and bacteria cannot be handled by an overworked liver.
Avatar f tn I didn't have any problems for awhile, when I was around 15 I occasionally got some pain. I'm 95% sure I get kidney stones and it always seems to be on the right side. Or maybe it's something else with the exact symptoms of stones. I get that kind of pain about once a year. On a daily basis though, I have discomfort now. I just turned 21. It's been gradual and I only started to really think about it recently.
Avatar f tn Pain in the side of abdomen is called flank pain. Usually flank pain is due to kidney stones. Ultrasound of abdomen should be done to rule this out. Other than this it can be due to a muscle pull or due to an irritated nerve. At times it is due to gas, cyst in ovary or due to appendicitis. It is difficult to diagnose this on net. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Take care!
192055 tn?1263559137 For the last 6-7 months, I have been dealing with 'kidney stones'. I say 'kidney stones' since the docs are unsure what is wrong with me. Last 6-7 months, I have had a varying amount of blood in my urine (varies from a little to a lot when I visited the doc 4-5 times)... but normal CT scans. I am going through further testing soon...
Avatar f tn When she was finally diagnosed previously, after days of intense pain, the stones were still in the kidney, so her original stones caused pain for her before they ever moved out of the kidney. She has had no other symptoms, and for now she is feeling great. She was a bit discouraged when we left the dr, wondering what in the world could "mimic" the stones, if it wasn't the stones.
Avatar n tn I am a medical officer from Sri Lanka. My child is 2 year old girl. She started regressing her mile stones of development since an ahe of 18 months; up to which she was developmentally healthy. She started to have frequent falls was ataxic and deteriorated rapidly. Now she cann't satnd with out support. She has a marked action tremor. And I find a difficulty in her verbalization and feeding due to incordination in the pharyngeal muscles.
Avatar f tn I have been lucky most have not been kidney infections. But from what I understand -- the stones are so porous that the bacteria easily is trapped in them. I wonder if the calcification works the same way ? Anybody know? Also I believe that we always have some type of stone activity going on but not all shows up on tests, leaving us wide open for infection. Just my two cents.
1522652 tn?1291241954 I know that there is a link beginning with my chronic uti's as a child, to my severe pms as an adolecent into adulthood, and then on to my chronic kidney stones and infections as an adult, and then the loss of my kidney, as well as the problems I'm experiencing now. My question is what specific tests do I need to request to accurately check my thyroid, parathyroid, and my calcium levels? Also, are there any specific questions that I need to ask.
Avatar f tn Cold like symptoms? etc? If it is kidney stones any explanation to why the pain is only so bad at night and just dull aches off and on during the day? Would kidney stones have shown up on the MRI?
136986 tn?1232403430 Not even the pain meds that they shot in me many times stopped the pain. They told me the only pain worse than a kindey infection of my seriousness was kidney stones....not even child labor is as painful...well according to the nurse. I would have it checked out before it gets any worse.
Avatar f tn I had issues with high blood calcium levels that messed up my female hormones (hot flashes, irreg periods, frequent urination and urinary tract infections, and later, kidney stones.) After the problem was corrected, life was good! (Now that I'm the ripe old age of 45, the perimenopause stuff is for real...sigh...) hang in there. Be an advocate for yourself and educate yourself about your condition.
Avatar f tn The symptoms could be due to viral fever with stomach flu and acidity. Kidney stones too can present with similar symptoms and so also colitis. It could also be symptoms of an irritable bowel. Stool and urine should be tested for infection to start with. Chest pain could be due to acidity. The enumerated the possibilities can be investigated or ruled out one by one by your physician. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn (My father suffers from kidney stones). I have been drinking lots of water and herbal teas. One doctor I spoke with over the phone suggested Bactrim antibiotic for 8 days. When I drink lots of water, it feels somewhat better. So I've been on bactrim for 2 days now, but I see no difference. According to you can this irritation be due to those crystals in urine, provoking this problem? Can antibiotics make it all worse if not bacteria was the cause of the irritation?
Avatar n tn Have you been checked for kidney stones? They could cause blood in your urine (visible or not).I was misdiagnosed with UTI's before my stones were discovered. Ask for an IVP. They inject dye into you, and x-ray your kidneys as it passes through. Also a 24 hour urine test is a good idea. They can find all kinds of stuff that way. As far as you Dr. goes, be blunt with him about your concerns, and ideas.
Avatar m tn Your test has nothing to do with HIV and your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV. If you had unprotected sex you test 3 months post exposure and use the right test.
Avatar f tn I still have no other symptoms and feel fine. I wonder if I might have a kidney stone that has moved in to the ureter and lodged, and is perhaps small enough to not cause further discomfort. I think it's odd for just the leukocytes and no nitrates for this length of time. Please advise.
Avatar n tn If you didn't have the spine imaged, you should talk to your doc as MS can show up there too. Hypothyroidism can certainly be a cause of your symptoms. Once treated adequately, your symptoms may improve. Another test that may be helpful is an EMG to see if this a problem of your peripheral nerves. Laboratory workup such as ANA, sed rate, blood count and electrolye profile can also help rule out other potential problems such as lupus and other rheumatological disorders.
168348 tn?1379360675 they think it is hereditary and I crinched when they asked my history as mine should have been removed 9 yrs ago when I threw a stone during a C-Section delivery and they said they couldn't go back in so soon and I played the diet game since then and have been no symptoms for 2 yrs but next time OUT IT COMES and my dd will be MY ADVOCATE LOL! 1963554 tn?1325451090 He said that his right kidney is destroyed and that his left kidney has about 25% left. He has a tumor within his bladder and his urine cannot pass thru which goes into his kidney and damages it. When we had Shaggy checked out in May our vet said that it's UTI...because I mentioned to him that he'd pee and then go to other spots and nothing comes out. So he was given anti-biotics. This went on for several months.
