1226479 tn?1267205690 In your case as kidney stones are present, so these definitely need evaluation as nephrolithiasis or kidney stones are known to cause hematuria. Moreover it can cause further complications. My sincere advice would be to consult a urologist. I hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Kind regards.

Avatar n tn I have had kidney stones since 2001. Currently (as of May 1) I have had a 15 mm and a 10 mm (as well as several of their babies) in my kidney. I have been scheduled for a systoscopy but when I went for my pre-op, I had extremely (dangerous) high blood pressure. I have never had this high blood pressure in my life (even when I went to the emergency room for kidney stone attacks).
Avatar n tn calcium oxalate stones, struvite stones, uric acid stones or cystine stones. Potassium citrate is used for the treatment of stones. Treatment modes include oral medicines, Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithrotripsy (ESWL), uteroscopic stone removal and percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Please discuss these treatment options with your urologist. Also take less calcium and oxalate rich foods and supplements like dairy products, colas, chocolate, peanuts, leafy vegetables, and tea. I hope it helps.
Avatar m tn I heard that both juices were supposed to be good, but that orange juice was actually the better of the two. But lemonaid was what the dr. recommended. After a year on the kidney stone anti-diet, I had more kidney stones. Told the dr. I had not had any tea, chocolate, collard greens, salad, almonds, beets, etc, etc, drank a gallon of water a day along with the lemonaid. What else could I do, doc.? He said, "We really don't know what causes kidney stones to form.
Avatar f tn the stones so they can analyze them) is the constituents of the stones. I believe a common kidney stone is made up of calcium oxylate. If your stone has some other makeup, it can be telling as to the cause of your condition. The majority of mine was not calcium oxylate, but the "lead" that gave the docs turned out to be a dead end, so I guess all my efforts to catch that little bugger were for naught. Ah well, at least I got to see my foe!! Sigh.
Avatar f tn I am new to this but I wanted to get on and figure out if anyone has had any symptoms like me.... I have had a pain in my right lower back since January. It started out only coming about once a month over my period...then it became more frequent. I went to the doctor and he sent me to a urologist. He said that I had kidney stones. But they were still in my kidney and they don't hurt while in the kidney. He did many cat scans, xrays, and a 24 hour urine test.
Avatar f tn * Calcium stones. To help prevent calcium stones from forming, your doctor may prescribe a thiazide diuretic or a phosphate-containing preparation. * Uric acid stones. Your doctor may prescribe allopurinol (Zyloprim, Aloprim) to reduce uric acid levels in your blood and urine and a medicine to keep your urine alkaline. In some cases, allopurinol and an alkalinizing agent may dissolve the uric acid stones. * Struvite stones.
Avatar m tn Hi, The prostate stones are usually asymptomatic and in case they are symptomatic like they produce any pain or are associated with any infection, the only remedy is the surgical removal. There are no medications to get rid of the stones. Please consult a urologist for the same. I sincerely hope that helps. Please do keep me posted. Take care.
Avatar m tn after few months he started having issue with his kidney, which then suspected by the doctor that there could be kidney stones which is causing problem. Doctor prescribed the medicine to break kidney stones and pass them through urine. Avatar m tn A recent article in our local paper has a dietician recommending a diet for minimizing the formation of kidney stones that is the exact opposite of what the diet my urologist has me on. His diet is based on what seemed logical: low calcium and low oxalates to prevent the combination of the two to form a stone in the kidney.
Avatar f tn Hi mommies and mommies to be, as of Saturday I was 22weeks and admitted to the hospital for a reoccurring kidney issue. ( about 2.5 years ago I almost died from ecoli in my left kidney and was in the hospital for 12 days with Iv anti biotics and 3 months out of work and on meds by mouth) I came in 3 weeks ago for kidney pain and was found to have a bacterial infection, was given bactrum in a very high dose for 3 days...
Avatar n tn My husband has a history of kidney stones (like his father who has suffered with them for over 30 years). This time however, he didn't experience the pain in his side, back or abdomen. Instead he has pain in the tip of his penis. He doesn't believe he has passed the stone yet but has not been straining his urine (strainer is lost - been a while since last stone). Is it possible he passed the stone and the pain is the remnants of this? He is not vomiting nor does he have fever.
Avatar n tn I have dealt with kidney stones for many years now some I've had to have surgery for others just had to deal with pain for weeks waiting for them to pass. I know that I have 5 dormant ones on my right side and 4 on my left side right now. They keep referring to them as dormant anyhow. I have been having some very bad days pain wise and having issues with being able to urinate much regardless of how much water I drink (I pretty much only drink water every day and my intake is high).
Avatar f tn For some people with mild infections, or who detect infections very early on, cranberry pills can help. Corn silk tea is a native American remedy which you can find in capsule form now. Some people swear that Oil or Oregano cures all of their infections. This can be found in capsule or liquid form at any natural store or select grocery stores. All of the herbs I mentioned range from 5 to 20 dollars.

Avatar f tn My father has kidney stones in both kidneys. He has undergone both laser surgery as well as actual removal surgery to take care of the bulk of them. As of his last ultrasounds/x-rays, there are still stones present, but they have not been causing any problems. As of yesterday, he has been presenting with blood in the urine. Is it likely that the stones could be causing this blood, even without pain?
Avatar f tn Yes it is!! I had kidney stones with my first... I was so miserable. I had them for two weeks. They put me on dilaudid though because the pain was so intense and nothing else touched the pain. My first will be 5 in October and is healthy as can be!

Avatar m tn I was born with a condition that causes my body to create kidney stones. I have been to the emergency room 4 or 5 times in the past 18 years for the large stones, small ones pass ok. My first stone caused bleeding and severe back pain also with pain in the lower abdomen area along with hot/cold flashes and vomiting. It may feel like someone is squeezing your kidney while at the same time stabbing it with an ice pick. I first though it was my appendix. I was wrong. Water, water, water.
