Avatar f tn It's been three weeks since my diagnosis of having multiple kidney stones on the right side. The Radiologist who gave me my stat results said I would pass them and didnt think straining my urine was something I needed to do. I finally got in to see my urologist he was upset I wasn't straining and wanted me to have surgery since I will be undergoing IVF treatments in March. I agreed because I don't want to deal with flare up while pregnant.

Avatar f tn Hi and WELCOME to our Kidney Stone Community. I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.
4321198 tn?1426545874 I had sever kidney stones from mid-1980's until about 2008. I also had my share of lithotripsy's, both wet and dry. In 2008 I questioned my urologist about ridding my self of stones. she told me my stones were of low oxalate and that if I cut back on about 19 food sources, I should see relief. On the 19 food sources I cut back about 70% or more. Since 2009 I have not had ONE bout of kidney stones. I asked why the devil did the urologist NOT tell me about those 19 foods.
Avatar m tn I finally broke down and went to ER. They did a CT scan and stated I have bilateral kidney stones. The MD said they were still in my kidneys and had not started their journey yet. Avatar f tn Hi, My suggestion is to go the hospital. Kidney stones are not something that is easily managed even on narcotics. The longer you wait the worse it gets. How do you know he has a kidney stone?
284738 tn?1283106819 You should call your doc's office today and let them know. They need to rule out kidney stones to make sure that is truly what is wrong with you. And then they may have some alternatives to give you in regards to pain relief.
Avatar n tn Family history of stones. I have 1 family physician, 1 urologist, and 1 kidney stone specialist at UAB. I stopped counting # of stones a long time ago. I have had 3 lithos and 1 other procedure but I forget the name. I and an older brother are taking Urocit-K. In January a CT scan showed 12 stones. An ER trip in late April showed 1 stone. Another ER trip in May indicated blood in urine and CT scan showed 3 stones, no stone was evident outside the kidney.
Avatar n tn ve been through 4 rounds of kidney stones,(one requiring removal) constipation, plecenta previa, anemia, restless leg syndrome, migrains, pelvic pain, limbs going numb, acid reflux, heart trouble, and my most recent diagnosis of gestational diabetes... pregnancy is not always a walk in the park. Avatar f tn Hi everyone... Okay,so for the 7th time this year I have kidney stones again - I am a 20yr old female (and I live a healthy life) ... Doc put a stent in my right ureter cause my kidney is PACKED with stones! I had a UTI but that was treated in hospital when the stent was inserted... Avatar f tn I am a 60 yr old female with extensive history of kidney stones since 1978 (before lithotrypsy), recurrent infections & blood in urine. I am prone to both calcium stones & uric acid stones. First kidney stone was size of a walnut & could not pass so was removed by actual surgery. Over the yrs I experienced more stones that would not pass so more surgeries. Have developed scar tissue in both ureters & have had 2 stents. Extreme pain so stent removal.
4159057 tn?1350422784 Cystinuria is a cause of persistent kidney stones. It is a disease involving the defective transepithelial transport of cystine and dibasic amino acids in the kidney and intestine, and is one of many causes of kidney stones. If not treated properly, the disease could cause serious damage to the kidneys and surrounding organs, and in some rare cases death. The stones may be identified by a positive nitroprusside cyanide test. The crystals are usually hexagonal, translucent, white.

280736 tn?1294198374 Last summer, I had blood in my urine and the dr sent me to have ultrasounds, c scans all normal, few small kidney stones. I started having extreme pain and it ended up being shingles awful pain. Long story short.. I keep seeing blood in my urine more and more frequently. Avatar n tn The size, configuration, and location affect the spontaneous passage of these stones. However, these may recur. There are different of types of kidney stones and calcium oxalate is the most common stone that forms. To prevent them from forming regularly, drink plenty of water and have a proper diet. Take care and best regards.
Avatar m tn Is it normal for stones stuck in the kidney to cause so much pain?? Could the fact that I have pkd be making the pain from these stones worse...I guess I'll be headed back to er if pain doesn't let up before I run out of the few pills I have until I see my urologist. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Avatar f tn I think this is One of the reasons why people have the need to go out and find pain relief wherever and however they can. Passing these kidney stones over and over again rank up there with having a natural childbirth. So any of you men out there reading this, you would be stuck in the hospital trying to pass those stones constantly. Imagine the pain men go through with small stones and then having them constantly getting larger and larger .
