Avatar f tn as long as you have a normal kidney on the other side. Certainly the pain your having could be from ureteral stones, and ureteroscopy is preferred in lower ureteral stones in child-bearing age women because lithotripsy may bruise the ovaries if used for lower ureteral stones. Infection is unlikely as infection and an obstructing stone usually leads to a high fever and is an emergency.

Avatar f tn Hi and WELCOME to our Kidney Stone Community. I'm not a doctor, but do have too much experience with kidney stones. For me, I'd get pings and pangs in my kidney as well as microhematuria (blood you cannot see by eye) in my urine when I have stones. I've also had the flank pain you describe .. for me it's been in the lower back. I hope with lots of water your stones move out for you uneveventfully. Please keep in touch. From what I've read stones <5.

583644 tn?1221445546 My body tells me it is my kidneys. I have kidney stones, but my GP insists that the pain is not from my kidney stones because they are not obstructing the duct. I asked him if it was possible that my stones were moving around and he told me that kidney stones do not move around and they do not cause pain.
Avatar m tn We have an MSK support site here that might have info that can help you too since the biggest issues for us are stone, infection and chronic kidney pain even when there are no stones in the ureter or an infection showing on standard test. Does your pain always show stones on test or you catch them when they pass? Here is the link to that MSK support group here.
Avatar n tn Family history of stones. I have 1 family physician, 1 urologist, and 1 kidney stone specialist at UAB. I stopped counting # of stones a long time ago. I have had 3 lithos and 1 other procedure but I forget the name. I and an older brother are taking Urocit-K. In January a CT scan showed 12 stones. An ER trip in late April showed 1 stone. Another ER trip in May indicated blood in urine and CT scan showed 3 stones, no stone was evident outside the kidney.

Avatar n tn I feel like I have had it all! I'm 34 weeks along and have continued morning sickness, heartburn, vomiting, constipation, continued weight loss, hands and feet going numb, insomnia, mood swings, jaw pain, wrist pain, groin pain, swelling of hands and feet. I feel like I'm losing my mind and that my body is turning against me!! I feel like my doctor either thinks I'm crazy or making it all up.
Avatar f tn In the Spring of 2014 however I had an experience with misread cat scans and misdiagnosed kidney stones that caused me months of pain and a urine stream that at times was what looked like pure blood. All of that took place at a VA Hospital and I finally had enough! I did what I recommend you do and I CHANGED DOCTORS and got the proper treatment. In my case, I went to a civilian Urologist and had the necessary surgery to remove the THREE stones that were causing me those problems.

Avatar f tn If you also suffer with reoccurring kidney pain whether you are passing stones or not...please respond as I am relieved to know I am not the only one. Beginning to think that I would never find someone that can identify with me. I would like to exchange information with another woman that has been experincing similiar symptoms. Thanks for your time in advance.
Avatar m tn Is it normal for stones stuck in the kidney to cause so much pain?? Could the fact that I have pkd be making the pain from these stones worse...I guess I'll be headed back to er if pain doesn't let up before I run out of the few pills I have until I see my urologist. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn I meant to say that *in the past* I had kidney stones. I was just comparing the pain level. I did not have kidney stones at the same time as cellulitis.
4159057 tn?1350422784 Aside from the chronic pain, a cystinuric will often have severe breakthrough pain from passing stones. This type of severe pain, if not properly treated, will force the cystinuric to seek help in an Emergency Department or Urgent Care facility. Since most cystinurics pass stones monthly, weekly, or daily, and need ongoing care, this usually causes medical staff to label these patients as drug seekers or hypochondriacs.
Avatar f tn I wish I had some answers for you, but I don't. Your symptoms appear to mimic a kidney stone attack at times, but the lack of blood in your urine at this point would seem to show something else is going on. I am not a physician so I don't want to advise you of anything under these circumstances. Please let us know what you find out and our prayers are with you.
280736 tn?1294198374 Last summer, I had blood in my urine and the dr sent me to have ultrasounds, c scans all normal, few small kidney stones. I started having extreme pain and it ended up being shingles awful pain. Long story short.. I keep seeing blood in my urine more and more frequently. I have no pain, could this blood in urine have anything to do with the hep C? Thank you all.
