Avatar f tn What other symptoms are present? If a stone that is blocking urine flow is left untreated it can cause damage to the kidney or ureter. If the stone is relatively small (5 mm or less) pain medications and increased oral fluid intake may allow the stone to pass on its own. However, if the stone is large, or continues to cause problems or appears infected, a referral to a urologist who may elect to perform a procedure during which a small tube is placed in your ureter via a scope.
Avatar n tn urine flow can be comprimised if stone blocks ureter and kidney will swell causing back pain towards side. if left untreated can cause infection. go see a urologist or nephrologist as soon as you can or strain urine at home everytime you pee till pain is completely gone. some stones take forever to pass and others are quick. its good to know what kind of stone you have to try to prevent another. good luck.
Avatar n tn I suffer from what is called Polycystic Kidney Disease (google it) which causes chronic kidney stones. Many people have this disease with no signs until they are much olde. When their kidneys begin to fail them. Diarrhea is related because when the stone is stuck in the ureter ( the tube leading down to your bladder from your kidney) this sends a message to your entire digestive tract to stop.
Avatar n tn My 15 year old daughter had a CT scan to check for kidney stones. The doctor told me the results showed stones in both kidneys...more in the right than in the left. Also showed a 4cm by 4cm cyst on the right ovary. She put her on birth control pills for a couple of cycles to see if the cyst goes away. So we are starting month 1 with the birth control pills, and waiting for an ultrasound in a month or two. As for the kidney stones...
Avatar n tn Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL). This is a commonly used procedure for treating kidney stones. It uses shock waves to break the stones into tiny pieces that are then passed in your urine. In some cases, you may be partially submerged in a tub of water during the procedure. In others, you may lie on a soft cushion. You'll generally require sedation or light anesthesia due to moderate pain caused by the shock waves. Percutaneous nephrolithotomy.
Avatar f tn I saw a urologist and he told me that yes, there were several stones in my left kidney but they shouldn't be causing me that much pain because they were still in the kidney. Why do doctors tell you that what you have isn't painful when you KNOW and FEEL that the pain is REAL? I felt like someone was stabbing me witha butcher knife over and over again. It was paralizing pain. I couldn't walk, eat, play with my son...nothing.
Avatar f tn Hi Tee, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am very sorry to hear about your untreated pain. If you have kidney stones and they are not moving you should not have significant pain. However if you do not have kidney stones that are moving or partially blocking the passage of urine you need to have your pain diagnosed. I have a long history of stones and know how very extreme the pain can be. My heart goes out to you and anyone who passes kidney stones.
168348 tn?1379360675 that type you can get meds for ... so want to be sure it isn't uric acid left untreated! YOOO HOOO you are pain managing now with the meds!
136986 tn?1232403430 About 7 years ago I had a bad kidney infection. It started out as a UTI that I left untreated. I started getting pains in my lower abdomen that would radiate thru into my lower back. While this was all happening, I was still experiencing the same symptoms that go along with a UTI such as pain when I would urinate, the feeling that I had to still go, and only a little would come out because I was frequently going to the bathroom due to the urge.
694885 tn?1232653548 I also have had atypical colon polyp removed and I suffer from a kidney anomoly that causes me to contantly make kidney stones called MSK .. I also suffer from documented gallstones. I share this in reply to your history .. nothing stands out in your history or FNA that sounds like you don't have an EXCELLENT chance of moving on with your life 100% cancer free after treatment! I don't understand how a $ value can even play into a decision for life?
Avatar f tn ) nausea and fatigue. if left untreated it can result in scarring and kidney disease - take it from me, you dont want that!!!! stones will also cause similar symptoms but not the headaches - they suggest fever, especailly as white cell count up this confirms the cause.
Avatar f tn As you are complaining of discomfort in the kidney area for a couple of months and have to urinate more often and feel that you haven't emptied your bladder, could be a sign of a Urinary Tract Infection. If you have kidney stones moving - they can take months to come down if they are moving; you would experience pain in the kidney area, or have renal colic (like wind pains in the belly). As they come down they can scratch and aggravate the tubes and hence cause infections.
738333 tn?1232971075 Other risk factors include diabetes mellitus, pregnancy, chronic bladder infections, a history of analgesic abuse, paralysis from spinal cord injury, or tumors. If left untreated or unresolved, it can progress to a chronic condition that lasts for months or years, leading to scarring and possible loss of kidney function. This is why it is important that you have the infection treated. Urinate frequently, and drink plenty of fluids at the first sign of infection.
Avatar m tn If it is relevant at all (in case of possible kidney infection or something), I have had what I believe to be a minor sinus infection for quite some time that I have left untreated. I have been drinking plenty of water and added cranberry juice into my diet to see whether I could clear this up myself. No luck so far. I appreciate any responses. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Many people are able to pass kidney stones on their own if the stone is small. If you have a sudden increase in pain that is unbearable, or a large amount of blood in your urine though, you'd better go to the ER. Do you qualify for any state program like medicaid? Some hospitals also have income based fee scales, but you may have to call around.

1963554 tn?1325451090 He said that his right kidney is destroyed and that his left kidney has about 25% left. He has a tumor within his bladder and his urine cannot pass thru which goes into his kidney and damages it. When we had Shaggy checked out in May our vet said that it's UTI...because I mentioned to him that he'd pee and then go to other spots and nothing comes out. So he was given anti-biotics. This went on for several months.
Avatar f tn Renal colic is painful and occurs when you pass a kidney stone or gravel. Stones can be ever so small, develop and move very quickly leaving traces behind for only a few hours which explains why a urologist would see nothing days or a weeks later. Please don't misunderstand me. I am not a diagnostician nor am I saying that your pain is related to your urinary tract system. I just think it is worth looking into again.
Avatar n tn My question to you since my doctors have come up with no valid reason (infection, epidyimitis, STD's, ect.) are these symptoms of any kind of cancer or kidney/urinary stones? Should I pursue these issues by getting an IVP or any other type of test? I also have experienced some involuntary weight lose (9 lbs.). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Avatar m tn You’re going to want to go get it treated as thisncauses infection and kidney failure if left untreated
Avatar n tn No kiddney stones, no std's, no hernias. Just a lower left abdomen disconfort that radiates into my left testicle and leg. Like if someone is squeezing the testicle. The pain also comes and goes, and it get's worst when I'm laying down for a long period of time. Please anyone let me know if you find what this is!
Avatar m tn I have had Ultrasound to check if there are any kidney stones and then had spine Xray but both are fine and had various tests from my urine and stool samples but they were also fine . Can someone help me. ========== My above question is similar to this below one which i found in this same forum : Approximately four years ago I began to experience some mild discomfort or tightness at the base of my penis on the right hand side.
Avatar n tn It happens about 2x a day, lasts a few seconds and it has moved around my body. Started in the left wrist, went to the left knee, then ankle, and the over to the right knee. Now it's been happening behind my right thigh for about 2 weeks. Very strange.
Avatar m tn 1) To rule out diverticulitis or similar as well as kidney stones, I had an abdominal CT scan. This was negative on the diverticulitis but I did have a kidney stone (but it was on the wrong side from the pain - guess I have something to look forward to some day). 2) Then, I was treated with two different antibiotics sequentially /Cipro was the second one to rule out epididymitis. Negative, symptoms persisted. 3) With each doc visit, no sign of a hernia by digital examination.
Avatar f tn it could have turned to a kidney infection or even kidney stones which is what i have right now.. o would give them a call they may wantyou to get checked out.
Avatar n tn I suggest you see a dr asap, severe pain is usually a sign that something is wrong. Given it's location, it sounds like a kidney problem such as kidney stones is possible.. and those can get nasty if left untreated.
Avatar f tn Blood in the urine can be caused by a number of things including a urinary tract infection, a kidney infection, kidney stones, a vaginal infection, among other things. This really needs to be checked out since if left untreated, these things can cause permenant damage to the urinary tract. Take her to see her doctor ASAP or if you don't have a doctor, take her to the emergency room for treatment. Good luck.
243097 tn?1233759599 The UTI itself cannot hurt baby. BUT... left untreated you could lose the baby as the UTI will spread and could cause kidney failure, stones, etc. Are you taking antibiotics and drinking cranberry juice?
Avatar f tn They stopped them with a shot. They also found small kidney stones but none were in the way so they just left them alone. I delivered at 38+3. I still get kidney pain but I'm just guessing the stones are trying to pass or get bigger. Good luck momma!
