Avatar f tn With the low complement, is it safe to assume this is NOT stones? How could it be stones if her urine is only showing pre-cursor to stones? We don't go back for several weeks, as he is buying us time to decide on the biopsy while we wait for the immune tests as well. Also, can she be vaccinated with low complement? Are there any risks to her taking probiotics? Thanks!
Avatar n tn The uptake and washout of urine from the kidney was slow compared to the other kidney (about 70% vs 30% function for good and bad kidney instead of 50-50). So clearly there is a ureter obstruction. Now the urologist wants to do a retrograde pyelography to really determine the cause of the obstruction, whether it's a stone or stricture. My question is that, what's the likelihood it is a stone or a stricture?
Avatar f tn I have had blood in my urine for 2 months now and I have had stomach cramps similar to menstrual cramps lately. I also have a history of kidney stones. I go next week for my cat scan and see if I have stones or something that may show up. I am worried but I always do, but this time I haven't been in pain like I was the other times I had stones it just seems different. I also worried about Bladder cancer or kidney cancer, but the symptoms doesn't exactly fit there either.
540521 tn?1221699706 s a urinary tract infection, or it could be kidney stones as well. The kidney stones could be hiding, i have heard of that. Has your doctor given you anything for the pain? I hope everything goes well on Wednesday and hopefully they will have more answers for you. I know it's frustrating, and i am frustrated as well but i just take it one day at a time and i would tell your doctor just how much pain you are in, maybe he can help or give you a stronger medication.

Avatar f tn At first the plan was to drain the kidney and break up the huge stones. After having a kidney function test, well it was discovered that my rt kidney had no function at all and needed to be removed. It was described as a huge beachball about to explode. I had kidney removed along with gall bladder. They actually removed over 7 liters of pus and fluid. It was over 30lbs lost.
192055 tn?1263555537 Kidney stones meant that I don't think they did a thorough test either, so they just generalized it. She had pains in her back, but no pain urinating. She had recurring UTI'sI wouldn't worry too much about cancer, but it's a good idea to get checked out anyway. We had to go out of town to get her final diagnosis. It was called UPJ obstruction. Her kidney was unable to drain, therefore, it swelled up and caused the pain.It was most likely a congenital defect.

684133 tn?1289591585 I just had 15 stones removed from my left kidney after having an additional 2 stones over 10mm stuck in ureter. I still have the same dull aching pain that feels as if someone has hit me in the flank with a baseball bat. My left kidney has at least 10 more stones and my right about 20. Years ago the pain was intermittent and I could tough it out, this last year I am taking ibuprofin, aspirin, or a prescribed pain med daily.

Avatar f tn As you have had/still have calcium oxalate stones, your risk of getting more kidney stones is much increased. Avoid the foods mentioned and browse the web for more information on oxalate rich foods that you should avoid or eat less of. It is also very important to always stay well hydrated. Your urologist may have advised you to drink 2 litres of fluids (4 pints) during the day, more if you are doing exercises that make you sweat or perspiring in hot weather.

Avatar m tn My wife has been having extreme kidney pain (left) after kidney stones and the doctors don't seem to agree on what is happening. Ultrasound - Slightly bulky upper pole on right kidney with subtle altered echopattern and early loss of cortio-medullary differentiation. no focal lesion on either side. Normal colour flow on doppler. CT scan - no contrast shows nothing abnormal. Contrast - Both kidneys show hypodense lesions that are ill defined in the superior poles involving the cortical.
Avatar f tn s only considered pre-existing if you have been treated for an ongoing problem with your kidney. Individual kidney stones cannot be considered pre-existing. Get a ct scan from a doctor then talk to a urologist if it is a kidney stone. I was born with a condition that causes my body to create kidney stones. I have been to the emergency room 4 or 5 times in the past 18 years for the large stones, small ones pass ok.
Avatar n tn also calcium oxylate was in my urine, what i believe are kidney stones, could they have caused the infection and the blockage of urine?
2059648 tn?1439766665 Kidney stones are likely to cause blockage to flow and if large enough may compromise kidney function. But they are also likely to increase the chances of infections and can cause pain. Based on the clinical symptoms and the kidney functioning, therapy is planned. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
