Avatar f tn My cat Mini is a 6-year old male cat and has recently diagnosed CRF. Also kidney stones are found in the L kidney and one in the L ureter. The vet in Hong Kong said there's nothing we can do to get rid of the stone in the ureter, only surgery of removing the L kidney, but since his R kidney is not healthy as well (calcium deposits found in the R kidney), complication rate is very high, death rate is like 60%.
Avatar m tn is now in the ureter, it’s better to just let it pass on its own - just a guess. Maybe kidney damage is not a concern, since it’s now in the ureter, unless there are add’l stones lodged in the kidney. Back to ultrasonic therapy - I’m still thinking that could break the stone into smaller pieces to help it pass thru a little easier.
Avatar m tn Im sorry, i don't have much specific info to provide. Just that stones in the ureter can be treated. I just had a procedure called a lithotripsy for instance. I had stones in both the ureter and the kidney. The dr said before the procedure that he may have to remove the the uretel stones first with a "basket" before the litho. I can't remember the actual name of that procedure though. But I also know that lithotripsy can be done for ureterel stones as well.
Avatar n tn In Dec, ultrasound showed hydronephrosis and hydroureter with stones again in the lower pole of the kidney. Nothing was done other than observation. In Jan, a bunch of small stones passed naturally. Last week, Feb, a mag3 renal scan and ultrasound were done that showed hydronephrosis and hydroureter still present but no stones in the kidney. The uptake and washout of urine from the kidney was slow compared to the other kidney (about 70% vs 30% function for good and bad kidney instead of 50-50).
Avatar m tn m figuring that kidney stones take a while to form and that, if I have kidney stones and possibly an infection, it's likely that I had the kidney stones first and they contributed to the infection, rather that having an infection first that contributed to the kidney stones (sorry if this sounds confusing).
Avatar f tn I went in to have my stones removed on 2/15/13.when I woke up I was told I had a stent and removal of the stones wasn't possible at that time because my ureter was too small. The stent will make my ureter larger so the doctor can remove the stones in 10-14 days. In the meantime I'm having horrible pain in what feels like my bladder. Is what's being done with me standard protocol? Is it normally this painful?
Avatar f tn i have groin pain, addo pain and pain in my back all on left side i also suffer from severe case of bile acid malabsorption, doctors think kidney stones awaiting ultra sound. im in agony.
Avatar n tn Hi, Renal calculi can vary in size from as small as grains of sand to as large as a golf ball. Kidney stones typically leave the body by passage in the urine stream, and many stones are formed and passed without causing symptoms. If stones grow to sufficient size before passage—on the order of at least 2-3 millimeters—they can cause obstruction of the ureter.
Avatar m tn Hi there. Most kidney stones less than 6mm in size can be treated conservatively. If pain, nausea and vomiting can be controlled, most of these stones will pass spontaneously. one must be well hydrated while trying to pass stone. Pain can be controlled with NSAIDs and narcotics on prescription if the pain is very distressing. the stone can be kept track of for weeks to months if there is no significant obstruction and if nausea and vomiting are tolerable and there is no active infection.
Avatar f tn In February I underwent two surgeries to get rid of 10 stones. Stones sitting in your kidney can cause kidney infections. Your best bet is to see the urologist and take care of those stones. Good luck to you!
Avatar m tn Do you have any other abnormal symptoms? The reason I ask about what kind of scan was used to make the assessment, is that not all types of stones show up on X-rays. Cystine kidney-stones, for instance, won't show up on an X-ray/KUB and can only been seen with a CT or ultrasound.
Avatar m tn sir , I have three stones in three different parts of my body first is in the gall-bladder {9mm} ,second in right kidney 7mm,third in distal part of left ureter 5mm ,is their any possibilty it can go with medicines or laser treatment ? but not open surgery .
6042653 tn?1378605512 I have passed my 9th kidney stone in 25 years. Most of the stones I have passed were years apart but this one was only 2 months after I passed a 3.5mm on the same side. I had not had one for 5 years before that. I used pain meds to get through these last two but after passed the last one I developed a large bulge just under the lower rib on my right side. The bulge looked as if a softball was in my abdomen and protruding out about an inch.
18533109 tn?1465640552 OK, first off stones start off in the kidneys, most are formed from oxalate, not from a urinary infection. Now, kidney stones can make you feel like you have in infection, or may indeed cause an infection in the area (ureter) they are, if they are in the ureter, that is one of two tubes that come from the kidneys, one tube for each kidney about 6m or so in diameter, in females they are about 50-70mm long each one empties urine in the bladder and then pass through the larger diameter urethra.
Avatar m tn I am diagnosed with two stones in my left kidney 7 days before. 5 mm is in the lower ureter and 3 mm in the left kidney. Since then I am drinking lots of water. I am taking Alfuzosin since last two days. For the last week I am having no pain and I am not taking any painkiller. My Dr says he will wait for ten days for the stone to fall else it has to be removed. Has the stone passed the ureter as I am not having any pain ? Can I wait more before removing it ?
Avatar n tn I just wandered if anyone has had kidney stones or bladder stones with NO symptoms, and also whether it is commonplace for people to have crystals in urine - does this necessarily mean stones? Should I be worried that this could signal something worse (like cancer), or would the blood work up have hinted at this? I'm erring on whether to wait patiently for an NHS urologist (could take up to 6 weeks), or whether to investigate this privately, which would mean borrowing money.
Avatar f tn If there were kidney stones, then together with other symptoms, you'd experience burning during urination. Kidney stone can cause really strong and sharp colic pain on one side of abdomen (going elswhere from the kidney area in the back or by (usually) one side of abdomen down to the groin. This pain usually causes constipation. Gas, bloating, diarrhea...this goes more with diverticulitis. Temperature means infection, you should get antibiotics (probably according to stool culture).
1243347 tn?1268424070 I am a 42 year old male. 8 years ago I had kidney stones that I passed on my own. Recently I had a 4 mm stone with a 3 mm stone sitting on top of that. These were blocking my right kidney which had urine in it. In addition I had several other smaller stones (left & right sides). I was unable to pass any of them on my own so on Tue. I had a ureteroscopy with laser (outpatient). My Urologist said the ureter (not uretha) was perforated.
Avatar n tn Hi, It does seem to me like you are having stones in the kidney. The symptom of pain you have described is very typical of it trying to be expelled from the body. Symptoms of kidney stones include colicky pain: "loin to groin". Often described as "the worst pain ever experienced." Other symptoms could be blood in the urine, due to minor damage to inside wall of kidney, ureter and/or urethra. Pyuria: pus in the urine. Dysuria: burning on urination when passing stones.
Avatar n tn m not sure which is best, it probably depends on your specific case. I had two surgeries for kidney stones in Feb and my urologist pulled them out but a few of them need to be broken up because of their size and I have an unusually small ureter. I ended up having 11 kidney stones removed. I hope you get your taken care of soon!
Avatar f tn I do not agree with your doctor that kidney stones are not life threatening. If they get lodged in the ureter or block the flow of urine this is an emergency. In fact at the age of 39 a piece of stone got lodged in my ureter and I was extremely ill. The surgeon said that I was operated in time because there was a build up of pressure that had built up in the kidney due to the blockage. Had they waited any longer, he told me, I would have had to have had my kidney removed.
Avatar n tn I have had half a dozen kidney stones in the last year or so. This definitely sounds like it could be a stone. The pain generally happens as the stone goes into the ureter and travels to the bladder. Once in the bladder, it doesn't usually hurt too much but may cause frequent urination, etc. If you don't have anymore pain, i would just strain your urine for awhile and wait to pass the stone. If you have more pain, you can go to the ER and have a scan done.
Avatar f tn It is a natural herbal product that really works. Believe me, as one with kidney stones, including one stuck in my right ureter, Renavive really works~! It works naturally to dissolve the stones and also stops the related pain. I had sharp right flank pain, accompanied by fever, chills and lower back pain on my right back side. Within 30 minutes of taking Renavive, my pain started to ease. This is an incredible, effective product.
Avatar f tn Thx for your response I have passed one of the stones in the hospital a few days ago still have another in my right ureter and a 7mm in my right kidney and several small stones 35 wks pg now and they are going to induce me in two weeks due to the kidney stones causing contractions and wanting me to have lithotripsy after her birth. I was told I wouldn't be able to pass the 7mm stone without intervention what are my chances with that they said its in the middle of the kidney.
