Common Questions and Answers about Kidney stones in obese

Avatar n tn Called an ambulance, said it sounded like kidney stones. Took an ambulance, plane and another ambulance to a hospital in the city-I live in the jungle in Costa Rica. The x-rays and ultrasound show a kidney stone. On the other side it also shows some white spots that may be calcium or other small stones. The doctor said the diarreah was unrelated. I stayed in the hospital overnight-no diarreah. Came home yeaterday and last night severe diarreah all night again.
Avatar m tn When I got up from the table the pain was gone, and they told me I had passed one stone and a second was still in my left Kidney. Fast forward to present day. I have been having pain in the same area off and on, nothing serious but enough to make me notice. Early this past Monday morning I woke up with the same nausea and pain as before, from a year ago when I had to go to the ER. It would come and go in waves or surges for about two hours, with nausea increasing.
Avatar f tn Hi I'm asking this for my mother. She was diagnosed with kidney stones around 2 years back and straight after had the surgery to have them removed. Afterwards she noticed her stomach had somehow 'inflated' and now it is 3 times the size it was before the surgery. The doctor she had seen about this hasn't really helped so i'd like to know the reasons why this could have happened and if possible are there any ways she could treat this?

Avatar f tn The one for years turns out is my gallbladder, I was morbidly obese before and they couldn't detect the stones. I have lost over 100 lbs and had an ultrasound a week ago. The results showed something with my gallbladder (no surprise) and lower left kidney, which is where I have been experiencing pain for a few months. I only know the results because the receptionist told me, but I don't get in to see the doctor until monday to find out more details.
1033121 tn?1270191046 i had nagging lower back pain/more in the kidney area for about a year and a half before some really big stones decided to move and rock my world big time i would advise your cousin: a scan is good but a simple xray can reveal large stones
Avatar n tn However, my ALT from last week's blood ead 63. The blood work in April (ALT of 57) and last week (ALT of 63) were done in different labs for whatever it is worth. BTW, I looked at the only other blood report I have in my file which was from march of last year. My ALT then was 37. I mentioned this to the GI as well. So, to summarize: March 05: ALT = 37 April 06: ALT = 57 May 06: ALT = 63. Hep B is negative. As far as I can tell ALL other blood numbers are well within normal range.
Avatar n tn I do know, however, that I have diverticulosis or Diverticulitis, I forget.. (I found out when I was in high school and had a kidney stone-- 9 years ago). I don't know if this has anything to do with it.
Avatar n tn If you recently underwent a CCK- assessment of gall bladder contraction, then you had a test which is very sensitive for the diagnosis of gall bladder disease, even in the absence of gall stones. If the CCK test is normal but you still beleive that the problem is the gall bladder, then removal of the gall bladder would be needed. If the pain persisted , then a problem in the gall bladder was not the cause.
Avatar f tn He also started me on HTZC this week so I haven't had an official reading on that yet. I do have chronic kidney stones but other then that I am pretty healthy. All my ekgs and ultrasounds came back normal and so do all my blood work... any ideas??
320576 tn?1204087293 We went to see the GI doc and he said that looking at a copy of a CT scan or MRI of his abdomen that they took when he had kidney stones in November that his liver looked good. They did some bloodtests to check for geno type and viral load etc and told him to check back after the first of the year to talk about treatment as the CDC recommends most undergo treatment. I called once to get the results, but they never called me back, I just left them another message.
Avatar n tn About 48 hours ago, I noticed this heat sensation in my left shin. At first I thought I was standing too close to a heat vent in the floor at work! It is a warm, sort of tingly sensation that lasts 5 seconds and occurs, I don't know, 10 times throughout the day. I wonder if I slept on the leg funny?? Stress?? I am 43 and in reasonably good health but seem to be a hypochondriac (spelling?) at times.
1358341 tn?1282213443 As far as what to order or get, try to wean your cat off of dry (dry is the worst thing for a cat especially with kidney problems), it might take a while, you can slowly mix in a little can in your cat's dry food ... Opus might have a good suggestion for this as I had no problem with this for my cat. The prescription kidney diet at the vets is generally too LOW in protein and I feel does not help your cat..
16860298 tn?1451981602 I currently have a 14 mm in the north pole of the right kidney. I have had a total of 4 stone removals, with stints a total of 8 surgeries. I have no idea what to do next. Avatar m tn This pain is the 2nd time I felt this year, the last time I felt this pain was 2 years ago, it seems a recurring pain, although irregularly. I have tried Gaviscon indigestion tablets, but that doesn't help. Male. 25 years old. Non drinker. Non Smoker. Slightly obese/overweight.

646318 tn?1261185094 There are many types of kidney stones. Most kidney stones are not uric acid stones. If you have a kidney stone you need to make it pass. To do that the best thing to do is drink plenty of water. So much that you are not even thirsty and your sick of water. Keep a water bottle with you all the time a sip it from time to time. The other thing to do is to stay active. Walk around keep moving. That will get the stone to move. Do you have a history in your family of kidney stones?
Avatar n tn I finally went to the ER and CT was taken and Ultrsound. Findings was lesion in my liver, coupling with kidney stones.
