Avatar f tn There is a question of whether my mother has men or not. There are 9 kids in our family, plus our children. I so far have had a single parathyroid adenoma and small goiter. I do have multiple medical problems that being treated, which include kidney stones. My labs are good except my K+, which is low. Do you think that there is any risk in genetic testing and do you think that there is any need to test?

Avatar m tn Testicular pain can be due to injury, infection (Epididymitis or Orchitis) or inflammation, testicular torsion -- most common in young men between 10 and 20 years old, excessive bicycle riding, hernia or kidney or ureteric stones. Are you having painful, red or swollen scrotum along with testicular pain. It can be epididymitis or orchitis.

Your symptoms highly suggest kidney stones but I recommend that you have this evaluated further by your doctor. Diagnosis is through an x ray or ultrasound. The results of these tests help determine the proper treatment. Furthermore, the chance of recurring stones is high. That is why it is also important to determine which type of stone is formed to prevent the formation.

Lab investigations like complete blood examination, urine examination, ultrasound lower abdomen and sometimes a urethral swab will help in diagnosis. Avatar f tn I am new to kidney stones. I passed my first kidney stone about 2 months ago and I know I have two more. A 2mm on one side and a 4 on the other side. The first one I had happened at night, so I woke up in pain. I am just wondering is there symptoms you can feel when you are awake. Just 4 days ago, I had 4 very sharp pains in the right side my back over a 2 hour period. Today I am hit with a wave of nausea.

However if it is Kidney Stones be prepared for that pain to become extreme and possible send you to seek immediate medical attention. It's been several days since you posted how are you doing today? Avatar n tn Hi, Hematuria or blood in the urine may be a symptom of recurrent kidney stones. Are there other signs or symptoms present? There is an increased chance of stone recurrence with patients with history of stone formation. A urinalysis and ultrasound of the KUB may be able to help with the diagnosis. Avatar n tn Causes for the formation of renal colic can be inadequate hydration, diet comprising of animal fats and too much calcium, infections, errors in metabolism which lead to accumulation of some salts preparing a ground for the formation of stones in the kidney, malfunctioning of the kidney etc. It is advised to get a ultrasound of abdomen done along with DMSA scan of both kidneys which would reveal the functioning capacity of the kidneys.

The doctors said that they think it was just kidney stones because after I left the emergency room it did hurt at the end of me going pee. But if it was kidney stones I feel like they would have shown up on a ct scan and I also feel like the blood would be gone by now since I passed it. He can provide support to the scrotum by wearing an athletic supporter, apply ice to the scrotum, take warm baths if there are signs of inflammation, while lying down, place a rolled towel under his scrotum or try over-the-counter pain relievers, like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.

First time was the excruciating consistent pain for about 5 hours resulting in a stone being passed. Second time was off and on pain, but pain was mild in comparison to the first, resulting in a stone being passed days later which looked completely different then the last one.
Avatar f tn In February I underwent two surgeries to get rid of 10 stones. Stones sitting in your kidney can cause kidney infections. Your best bet is to see the urologist and take care of those stones. Good luck to you!
Avatar n tn Hi, It does seem to me like you are having stones in the kidney. The symptom of pain you have described is very typical of it trying to be expelled from the body. Symptoms of kidney stones include colicky pain: "loin to groin". Often described as "the worst pain ever experienced." Other symptoms could be blood in the urine, due to minor damage to inside wall of kidney, ureter and/or urethra. Pyuria: pus in the urine. Dysuria: burning on urination when passing stones.
