Avatar n tn Up to 20% of adults with kidney stones may have medullary sponge kidney; the corresponding figure in children is unknown. Among patients with kidney stones, hypercalciuria may occur in 40-50%, and recurrent gross hematuria may occur in 10-20%. Although no evidence indicates that risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) is higher in patients with medullary sponge kidney, up to 5% of males and 35% of females have a UTI.
Avatar f tn Aside from infection or stone, hematuria or blood in the urine may be attributed to enlarged prostate in males, kidney disease such as glomerulonephritis, possible cancer, inherited disorders such as sickle cell anemia, kidney injury, medication side effect or even from strenuous exercise. Further evaluation or diagnostic tests may need to be done to determine the underlying cause. Take care and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn Now I am having left flank pain and tenderness (without any of the other hallmark symptoms of an acute kidney infection). My Internet obsessive searching indicates this could be a sign of chronic kidney infection. Does anyone here have chronic kidney infection (chronic pyelonephritis) as it relates to MS? The whole kidney damage/failure issue scares the snot out of me. I am a self-cather and thought that would keep me from getting this.
Avatar f tn In october 09 i foolishly engaged in unprotected oral sex with a prostitute. I am in a long term relationship and that was my sole indiscretion. After two days i went to a sexual health clinic where they swabbed me, took blood and urine samples. I was diagnosed there and then with ngu and given antibiotics and was told to refrain from unprotected sex with my girlfriend. All tests for hiv, chlamydia and ghonnorhea came back negative.
969276 tn?1257886004 Its great LOL Dizziness, physical exercision like walking up 5 steps gives me a headrush. Vertigo, though only when I am laying down, dont know if thats truly vertigo. *Kidney stones (5 at once, and kidneys full of 'sand') no prior problems with kidneys, no family history, healthy diet and exercise. Constant headache, dull, throbbing pain that worsens when I cough, bend down, put my head down, etc.
Avatar m tn So according to test results, I have no kidney infection and no kidney stones because according to my doctor, kidney stones will show some trace of blood in my detailed urine exam. Also note that during the episode of my back/kidney ache, my chest pain was very little to almost gone. Although they came back a little bit but not to the point that i would go crazy.
Avatar f tn Causes include lesions of the urinary tract, Kidney pathologies, trauma, tumors, malaria or stones in the urinary tract. In your case UTI needs to be probed thoroughly as to whether it is responsible for causing such symptoms. I feel that without clinical examination, pinpointing a diagnosis is tough. Also a complete urine examination and culture may be required. Please consult a urologist for confirming the diagnosis. I hope that helps. Kind regards.
Avatar n tn 17 Several years ago it was discovered that I have a horseshoe kidney. Each urinalysis for the past 10 years has indicated blood in my urine. Is this to be expected with this congential condition? Also, recently, I had a urinary tract infection that was successfully treated with Bactrim DS. This is the first infection I have had in ten years. One additional question, will diuretics such as Bumetanide or Hydrochlorothiazide have a harmful effect with horseshoe kidney?

Avatar m tn But this is usually presenting with lumbar pain and urinary symptoms as well. In young males, often excessive bicycle riding and prostatic infection can cause such kind of testicular pain. Sometimes sitting on an inadequately padded surface or for prolonged periods of time is causing transient irritation to the prostate which is already inflamed. This could be appearing as the pain in testicles. Hence it is mandatory to get a few investigations done.
2015481 tn?1328280715 The hair on my upper arms now grows in sparse patches, with individual hairs being thick, dark and long. I have kidney patches and the hair on the back of my neck and the upper part of my back also grows thick and long. I also have a dark patch of skin on the back of my leg where hair grows especially thick and long. When I was 28 my abdomen began to feel sensitive. I suffered from clostridium(sp?) which went away with antibiotics, but after that my abdomen became even more sensitive.
Avatar m tn Be careful with the vitamin c suppliments. They can cause kidney stones in males. You do not want this.
Avatar m tn Such as it's caught in a blazing fire or something! The evident symptoms imply this may be some sort of STD. But this isn't the case at all, as I've never engaged in sexual intercourse before. The negative effects of masturbation shouldn't consist of: chronic pain in the tip of penis, consistent burning and having a constant urge to urinate, nor should I have to suffer and pray to GOD for 45 minutes... LOL.
Avatar n tn do you know what stds are associated to my symptoms? i have never heard of blood in the sperm and in the urine after ejaculation being related to an std.
Avatar f tn The causes can be urinary tract infection, kidney stones, urethral strictures, cystitis, urethritis, sexually transmitted diseases, vaginitis, endometriosis in females, and prostatitis in males. I will advise you to drink plenty of water so that if there is any infection the bacteria get flushed out. Void the bladder fully while urination. Seek medical help. You may need tests like urine microscopy, urine culture and ultrasound kidney ureter baldder.Treatment will depend on the cause.
Avatar n tn If you recently underwent a CCK- assessment of gall bladder contraction, then you had a test which is very sensitive for the diagnosis of gall bladder disease, even in the absence of gall stones. If the CCK test is normal but you still beleive that the problem is the gall bladder, then removal of the gall bladder would be needed. If the pain persisted , then a problem in the gall bladder was not the cause.
Avatar n tn Anyone else experience the above symptoms (emphasis on the sexually/masterbatory related symptoms)?? I've heard that kidney stones can mimic Epididymitus symptoms, I'm gonna make an appointment with a Urologist and have an ultrasound to see if that may be it. I'll keep you guys posted. I'm gonna go take a dump now.
Avatar m tn I am going to get a Catscan and MRI to rule out kidney stones. I thought herpes at first, but I have no lesions or bumps or anything on my genitals. If the MRI rules out kidney stones, I will be going to a urologist after to try and help my situation.
Avatar n tn I too use a laptop directly on my lap if I am working in bed. My symptoms started in my leg about 3 months ago, exactly where my cell phone is kept when it is in my pocket. Then recently, about 3 weeks ago, I started feeling the same sensation in my penis. No pain, just a little vibration. Everything seems to be functioning normally, but still, me no likey.

Avatar m tn Hello, Without examination confirmation of a diagnosis is tough but such symptoms can be due to glomerulonephritis, pyelonephritis(inflammation of the kidneys),urinary tract infection, hypercalcemia, hypokalemia(low potassium),hyperthyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, diuretic drugs and benign hyperplasia of the prostate(in males).
Avatar m tn It has been observed that early treatment may not be needed because the symptoms of BPH clear up in almost one-third of all mild cases without treatment. In such cases regular checkups to watch for early problems are advised. It is said that if you have intercourse frequently the ejaculation will remove prostatic fluid and shrink the prostate. But the best treatment is to see a doctor before the problem worsens. Only a doctor can tell you what treatment is best for you.
Avatar f tn Spent the rest of her life, until 1994, in a wheelchair or in bed. Died of heart attack in her sleep at age 80. In my late teen's, early 20's, I was having episodes of what my mother and I call "the shift". I'd be driving and I'd say turn my head to check traffic for a merge to my left and suddenly the whole world picture would "shift" to the right. Just a quick thing.. wasn't a spin or a vertigo, just a "shift". I'd also get "the drop".
Avatar n tn slight burning sensation when peeing, involuntary cloudy/yellow discharge or pee dribble into his underwear throughout the day, occasional groin soreness and lower back soreness. Each time he was diagnosed with a UTI they gave him anti-biotics that seemed to temporarily clear up the symptoms until the UTI would return a few months later.
Avatar m tn A syndrome of cerebral palsy, mental deficiency, self-mutilation and hyperuricemia may be suggestive of Lesch-Nyhan syndrome—a condition that lacks hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase [HGPRT], the enzyme responsible for uric acid metabolism. In all males suspected with cerebral palsy, HGPRT deficiency must be ruled out, preferably by measuring the ratio of uric acid to creatinine in a random urine specimen.
